I’m not quite sure what Rebecca Wilson supports. She claims to be a massive rugby league fan, but lines up for the first kick anytime something goes wrong.

She loses the plot any time Australian football is mentioned.

A soccer game is apparantly as dangerous as a nuclear war.

Haha, I don’t read the paper. I was reading a forum when soneone posted his tweets, and people had posted articles from all the columnists. They all seemed eerily similar so I decided to do a write up.

There has been some criticism, and rightly so, but the Fairfax papers have a balance of viewpoints, and attribute the affair to directional change, falling out, etc. They address the issue in depth.

My issue is that there is a clear editorial line being followed, which is highly vitriolic, and not the slightest effort made to address the clear conflict of interest.

Rebecca Wilson’s partner is the one who demanded Gallop be guven a four year tenure for crying out loud.

It really is a wider problem than sports media, and as much as we like to dig the journalists involved (rightly so), the fault lies with the wider public as consumers as much as the suppliers.

I’d love to see media literacy become a part of a high school curriculum.
