Dude, Im happy not to play them again until finals time. Our tough draw is working in our favour.. young players have had to step up and the coaching staff are coming up with new solutions , like Oscar Allen, Im staggered at how well he is going. Hes barely played 10 games but is really holding his end up.

Nobody plays champagne football for 6 solid months, (well its rare, maybe the Bombers in 2000) so staying in games and clawing victories is how you actually win a flag.

Cats are streets above everyone else no question, if the GF was played tomorrow they would win it… but thats the point.. it isnt. 😉

Numbers game: Which teams will rise and fall in the second half of 2019?

Because of this banning no team in the world will sign him, the NRL just said they dont want him, Hes got every right to sue the ARU for ten million.

BREAKING: Israel Folau takes legal action against Rugby Australia

Plenty of No 1 draft picks have never even played a single game. Every club has a story of overlooking a future champion for some guy who turns out to be just OK.

Silgvani had a plan, the club has committed to it, maybe it will work, maybe it wont, at least he has had a go. He hasnt disgraced the club like some at the club who deliberately threw games. How those people never got lifetime bans is beyond me.

Lets see how the new coach goes, if the blues win 5 games before the end of the year we will all be saying what a genius Sigvani is.

Fasolo is a great player by the way… plenty of clubs would have been happy to pick him up. Ditto McGovern so its not all doom and gloom.

Brendon Bolton was crucified to save SOS's sins

Would have made a better finale than the one we got 😉

Bolton booted: Carlton sack third senior coach in eight years

I posted this somewhere else but the guy clubs should be looking at very closely is Peter Sumich. He has had very good results with young players.

Theres an interview of him on youtube somewhere discussing his career (on the couch?) and the guy knows his stuff.

Hiring and firing in the AFL: what to do with Brendon Bolton?

”Fremantle are clearly a long way off the worst team in the competition. ”

I guess thats one way of putting it.. they were 8th last time I checked…. thats great given how theyve gone the last couple of years. They have lot of upside methinks.

As for the Dees.. they were going to get the harder draw and lost a 60 goal per year player in Hogan… I was a bit bemused about why so many people were bullish on them.

Everyone else seems to be doing about what we anticipated except the Cats who are on fire, Port have lost a couple more games than I predicted and the Lions have won a few more.

AFL preseason: We should have paid more attention

Fair comments.. but it was only 18 months ago the Eagles went into a home final as huge favorites against the Dogs and got rolled… so it was a relief to get a good win over them and kick 15 goals in the second half or whatever it was.

Its only been the last couple of weeks they’ve had their full forward line available, Barras is still out down back and Naitanui is waiting in the wings.

They are on track to win 6 of the last 12… which might be enough for top 4, if they win 7-8 they are looking at top two…. they have slowly worked their way back into contention. Its a big turnaround from where they were 6 weeks ago……so I think its ok to get a bit excited 😉

Five talking points from AFL Round 11

Remarkable analysis by the author actually…”dont sack Brendon Bolton and a few lines later Rhys Shaw might be just what the Swans need”. Does anyone really believe he will coach beyond this year? If the answer is ”No” it might be easier to pay him out and let him go on his way.

Five talking points from AFL Round 11

Everybody in the land calls the umpires the white maggots… if thats offensive you may as well play the games behind closed doors. Did the umpire actually complain? Crikey its a gladiatorial contest, emotions run high, people have a lot of stress to get out of their system , thats why they go to the footy to yell cheer and curse.

You have derogatory nicknames for your opponents, the Umpires and opposition supporters… dont like it dont go to the footy. Im not talking about racial abuse, just the regular banter fans get up to.

Five talking points from AFL Round 11

Wallabies were given a rare Wednesday off on a tour of Europe recently. Instead of doing yoga or meditating they all went to an Irish pub and had a good old fashioned bonding session over a few beers.

The media absolutely lambasted them 6 months later… completely ignored the fact they actually played the best game of their season and thrashed the Scots.

Maybe players should be allowed to have a few quite beers in their own time. 😉

and in Carltons case maybe it should be compulsory, at least they would have a decent excuse for playing like they do.

Media assaults on AFL players are over the top

Im an AFL fan living in Asia. One of my buddies was a SAFFA who lived in Melbourne who was a mad keen Collingwood supporter, when I asked him why he didnt support the Rebels he said ”because nobody goes” he said if you wanted a good day out with friends and have a few beers you would go to the AFL.

Hes back in Durban now watching the Sharks.

'Almost insolvent' Rebels may be unable to afford Super Rugby final

Yes agreed, my uncle was at that game and went home at 3/4 time so he missed the whole thing.

He was coping abuse non stop up until that point, spat the dummy and took his toys home.

But specifically against the Crows in Adelaide, has anyone come from that far back and beaten them?? It must be close to best comeback ever against them by a visiting team not called Port Adelaide 😉

Is that a ”baby in the bathwater” reference?.

2019 AFL Power Rankings: Round 10

Anyone who says I’ll just go and watch …(insert local NRL or ARU team) probably has never had to sit through 80 minutes of the dross they call football.

The beer van is the only thing that makes it bearable. 😉

2019 AFL Power Rankings: Round 10

I get nervous when everyone picks the Eagles at home and just says ”Eagles at home no chance Dogs”…. the Dees played great a few weeks ago, I expect the Dogs to do something similar. Theyve lost to the bottom 3 sides and beaten some of the guns, if they get it right they will nick this one… and this is a game they really cant afford to lose…top 4 is starting to take shape..and with their poor percentage they will need to finish a game ahead of whoever finishes 5th

Eagles need to treat it the same as they would if they were playing a top 8 opponent.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 11

Christ mate really? You have no idea about football if you cannot see what a big part of flag Scott Lyett was. He was the third best tall in the comp last year and Vardy did a great job as his side kick.

Lycett now plays for Port Adelaide and Gawn gave our boys a bath a couple of weeks ago… or did you miss that as well?

You’re a pretty good example of Voltaire’s famous quote. … feel free to google it.

Richmond rising off a potent mix of youth and chemistry

Well in fairness, have a look at the players from 2017 who are unavailable or moved on.

They dont just grow on trees, you cant just say ”yatzee” and some 3rd round draft pick you’ve had on the list for four years suddenly becomes a Brownlow contender.

The reality is He might have to rebuild the list.. and some of his gun players havent delivered this year.

The pressure is now on Don Pyke

Ah yes, I think this will be the game of the season and likely the two sides who will meet on that last day in September.

Mind you , nobody would have tipped the Pies or Eagles to be playing each other this time last year either so nothing is set in stone. 😉

Richmond rising off a potent mix of youth and chemistry

Yes they are looking very good the Tigers and are currently a real threat to the Cats.

The Eagles and Pies are not without their chances either, so its all shaping up very nicely for the second half of the year.

Eagles will really need Naitanui to be able to find some form prior to finals time, I dont think they will go far in Sept if the opposition ruckman continues to destroy them at stoppages the way Max Gawn did a couple of weeks ago.

Richmond rising off a potent mix of youth and chemistry

Well I think people are sick of the constant rule changes for one, and the bizarre interpretations referees then put on them.

I gave up watching rugby about 5 years ago because on any given moment i couldn’t tell why a penalty was being awarded. And it also seems there are two sets of rules depending on who is playing. I honestly believe referees have a bias against some sides and not to others, that is not the same as a ref making an honest mistake, which we all accept happens.

For example, just prior to the 2011 world cup final we both agreed that if the South African ref was appointed New Zealand would win, if the Irish guy was appointed France would win. And we have made plenty of similar predictions and got them right.

Once that sick revelation dawns on you its inevitable you ask the question ”Whats the point of watching if even a couple of mugs like us can predict the result?”

Crowds: An actual national rugby crisis that demands attention

Mate, has any other side EVER in the history of the AFL come back from being 33 points down against the Crows in Adelaide??

Ive got no idea, but I think it might rank with one of their greatest wins of all time (finals excluded).

2019 AFL Power Rankings: Round 10

”are any other teams fond of the Pies”

I think its a uniersal trait among Melbourne based fans that they support two teams, their own team and anyone playing against Collingwood.

Over in the other states they’re probably just another footy team, I support the Eagles and have nothing but respect for them.

How could I not? We gave them our coach!! 😉

2019 AFL Power Rankings: Round 10

Exactly, anyone calling for Carlton to relocate to the Gold Coast doesnt understand Victorian football… there would be a state wide coup against the government and the AFL if that happened.

They suck now no question, but like you said, prior to that the were THE powerhouse club in the land. Their 1979-1982 lineup is still one of the best of all time, they won flags in 87 and 95 and for people like me, it doesnt seem like that long ago 😉

16 wins usually means you are top two, very unusual year that one 😉

Yep, the second year reality check hits all of them.
