56′ Senderos surges forward and heads the ball out to Ruiz, who turns Cole inside out and drives a low cross from the right towards DEMPSEY WHO SCORES FOR FULHAM!!!!! It’s on now! I did say these games can wake up quickly!

51′ Curling ball in from Bosingwa is headed away by Hangeland where Torres was lurking. From the corner Terry is able to volley from 15 yards straight into the wall of players in front the goal. The second corner is cleared away. Chelsea in command and looking cooler now.

50′ Corner from Murphy towards Hangeland, who wins the header but puts it wide. He’s such a danger there.

GOAL FOR CHELSEA (MATA 48′)
CHELSEA 1, FULHAM 0.

47′ Bit more urgency from Chelsea here, and Daniel Sturridge closes down to get the ball back. Cole plays a ball in to Torres with his back to goal, he loses it but with a short backlift MATA SCORES!!!! Splendid goal, and the crowd exhale with collective relief.

46′ No changes at half time, and we’re away again. You just never know. A game can be slow one minute, and burst into life next. Certainly hope so.

Well this is my fourth and final match of the week live blog, and I suspect that magic dust we had previously has worn off. We picked three absolute clangers, but this one is a very slow, sluggish game. Chelsea’s fans will be stressing, and they need an almighty dose of hairdryer at half time to remind them that they’re professional footballers. Vilas-Boas’ tactics have been odd, but the players application would be the real worry, and he’ll need to prove his worth with a big rev-up. Fulham have toiled well and look just as likely to score.

HALF TIME AT STAMFORD BRIDGE:
CHELSEA 0, FULHAM 0.
Chelsea vs Fulham: EPL live scores, blog
45′ Still Chelsea go forward but Torres is so isolated up front. Sturridge drills a low shot wide to the left. There have been a lot of half hearted long range efforts from Chelsea in this half. There is no atmosphere coming from the ground, you can hear every call from a player. There will be ONE MINUTE OF STOPPAGE TIME.
Chelsea vs Fulham: EPL live scores, blog
43′ Torres is the only Chelsea player in the Fulham half while Fulham are still in their own half with the ball. Chelsea’s back four are all back marking the sole front man.

41′ Chelsea are playing with a lack of urgency and imagination. They’re also sitting rather deep when they don’t have the ball, and Fulham are not under much pressure at all as they go forward. Chelsea have three balls into the box cleared now as they try and make something happens. Crowd starting to murmur nervously.

37′ Fulham put together more than a dozen passes in an impressive keeping of possession, but Murphy’s killer ball is overhit.

33′ Chelsea have another chance as the ball is played over the top towards Mata. Then from the corner Terry heads just wide.

31′ Chelsea look lethargic in defence and attack, and Romeu blazes a shot very high as he runs out of options.

28′ Free kick after a high boot from Mata in a good position is blazed wide by Frei.
Chelsea vs Fulham: EPL live scores, blog
26′ Dembele glides past Romeu after some nice keep ball from Fulham, and drives a shot low and wide of Cech’s goal. Fulham have had chances here, this is an even contest.

23′ Chelsea are knocking the ball around on the edge of the box with impugnity, but can’t get further than that. The away fans are booing Terry also.

19′ Torres picks up the ball on the right hand edge of the box and dribbles meekly towards goal before blasting a shot over the top. That wasn’t threatening, and draws howls of derision.

16′ Mata plays a wonderful ball from a straight position towards Torres, who takes it down beautifully and looks certain to score before hitting it straight at Stockdale who saves well. Great chance and great play, Torres dreadfully unlucky. Then Hangeland turns it over from the goal kick after a poor pass from Stockdale, and Sturridge slices a shot across the face from the corner of the box.

15′ Kelly gets free down the right and bends in a lovely arching cross, and Sa heads over from a wonderful position! He had comfortably beaten Bosingwa and should really have scored.

13′ Good scrap between Orlando Sa and David Luiz on the edge of the Chelsea area. Sa was up for the fight and scraped his way into the box, but Luiz blocked the shot and cleared. Up the other end a ball in is hurriedly flashed at by Juan Mata and goes wide.

11′ Mata picks out a nice run into the box from Ashley Cole, but Cole’s header across goal is nodded away by Senderos.

60′ On the hour mark and now there’s some noise in the ground. Fulham are keeping the ball well now was their small band of supporters chant ‘There’s only one team in Fulham!’ Changes look likely, I suspect Torres may not be long for this game. Vilas-Boas needs to change something though, Dempsey has got the ball down and bent a shot straight at Cech now.
