Exactamondo.
I’m saying from Australia’s perspective, it is the toughest group in the World Cup.

Socceroos' World Cup squad for Brazil

Sorry Fussball, wires crossed.
I meant in terms of Punter’s comment that Patrick rated Mat the best A-League prospect he has seen. He saw a lot of him playing in the A-League.

Patrick might not have seen Langerak play but that still makes Ryan the best A-League player he saw, whether he actually saw Langerak play in the A-League or not.

it wasn’t a bad back pass, Jedi tackled someone side on and the ball deflected away towards Langerak.
The ball bobbled up and Langerak’s foot went under the ball and he followed through.

“Zwaanswijk never saw Langerak playing in the A-League.”

Strange you would say that Fussball, because Ryan and Zwaanswijk actually played together for 3 years at the Mariners 2010-2013.

As a central defender, Patrick would have spoken to him constantly and seen Mat on the field the most of anyone. He would be the one best to assess his abilities as a defender and goalkeeper.

Mat is a West Sydney boy and set to be an international success story – the guy is only 22 years old and has 20 years ahead of him as a professional footballer.

He will be our best player at Brazil 2014.

Looked more clumsy than deliberate. The poor guy just completely missed the ball.
Shame because we were doing really well until then.

I think you’ll find most of those players did, they started their football careers in Sydney and were snapped up by other A-League clubs. SFC doesn’t have the right philosophy to make the best use of them and they leave.

Sydney has the highest football participation rates, the most number of junior players and football clubs and produces the most number of professional football players and Socceroos.

Rogic has been a big disappointment, but didn’t get much game time at Celtic and was injured when he came to Victory and is nowhere near fit. But Ange and Arnold have a big opinion of him and expect him to go to Brazil.

Might even end up at SFC on loan when he gets back.

Absolutely, after watching his press conference announcing the team this morning on SBS, you’d think we were certainties to win the world cup.

The only thing Ange said that I agree with is that we face an enormous challenge and that out of it comes opportunities.

The rest was good motivational talk.

Whoever plays in goals is going to see the most action.
I expect Mat Ryan to be the #1 choice and to make some miraculous saves and double his transfer value to 5M Euros by he end of the tournament.

Socceroos' World Cup squad for Brazil

Yes. We as a country are rated #1 for the toughest schedule so from Australia’s perspective it is the toughest group and the biggest group of death.

There’s 2 weeks of intensive training and fitness trials to prove yourself to Ange at the Mariners COE, Gosford.

Like Hiddink, Ange will rely on hunger, motivation, strong defending and fitness to try and overcome seemingly insurmountable odds.

The 7 I’d leave behind:
Mark Birighitti, Oliver Bozanic, Jason Davidson, James Holland, Adam Sarota, James Troisi, Alex Wilkinson

But that could change after the 2 week camp. It also depends on how players adapt and fit into the team. You’ve got a few weeks of intense tournament pressure and you need to be able to cope.

We certainly won’t take a backward step, like in Germany or South Africa, but it still doesn’t mean we won’t face 3 losses and early elimination. Very courageous teams can still lose the contest.

On the plus side, we have more time to prepare for the FFA Cup, A-League season and the Asian Cup. 🙂

Socceroos' World Cup squad for Brazil

Officially Yes.
It was rated the toughest group by an expert panel and Australia has the toughest job of all and expected to be first eliminated.

Refugees, fleeing war torn homeland, born in a Japanese Taxi, Ukranian one day, Russian the next 🙂

Costa for Spain, but no Traore for the Socceroos

Samoan football officials are more corrupt than Australian or Spanish. I bet there was some consideration paid to make sure Cahill could play for the Socceroos and we are all so glad they did.

Traore is a good player, but is he better than Carney, Zullo, Oar, Sarota, McKay or Franjic 🙂

Costa for Spain, but no Traore for the Socceroos

The biggest positive is that under Ange playing anywhere in the world, you are still a chance to get a go for Australia, whereas under the previous 2 Socceroos managers you might as well give up any hope.

It seems to be fairly predictable, but still very intriguing what Ange will do. He did say he was selecting a squad for the next 2 World Cups and not just this one.

Bailey Wright in Socceroos squad: report

Good luck AZ, I’ll be cheering from my lounge room.

I can’t see why they couldn’t get the 2 goals, especially on Shinji’s farewell. I’ve seen bigger teams than Hiroshima choke away from home.

Popovic tips Wanderers to defy odds

Its a rumour started by the Daily Telegraph in Sydney and the British press are running with it
http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/norwich-city/news/norwich-consider-tony-popovic-approach_154973.html

He’s a very good coach none the less and if the rumours are true, he’d probably do better than the other candidates, while doubling his salary at the same time.

He was recommended by his old mentor Tont Pulis, who helped resurrect Palace and his coaching style would suit a battling Championship team.

Aussies Abroad - final push for World Cup selection

What’s Xabi on about?
Barcellardoor and El Spagnopaella have some of the toughest tacklers in the world who have broken a few bones themselves.

I’m hopping mad now and hope we thrash those arrogant Spagnaellas.

Aussies Abroad - final push for World Cup selection

This is great for the history of the game in Australia.

The FFA Cup and the involvement of many historical clubs is bringing to the fore some positive stories about the good old days of Australian football and not just the A-League clubs of the past 9 years.

Atti Abonyi is one of the greats of Australian football and needs to be recognised as such, as are the other great old stagers like Joe Marston, who the Medal is named after and Alex Tobin, who all pre-date the A-League.

Well done to all concerned to try and re-build the bridges and heal the old wounds so we get together as a community to follow the games we love.

FFA Cup gets backing for three years

Another grand final – here they come out of the woodwork again.

How many FFA Cup matches will be broadcast live on Fox Sports?
There will be a minimum of 10 matches broadcast on Fox Sports. … and all Quarter Finals, Semi Finals and the FFA Cup Final.

Fox Sports may elect to broadcast additional FFA Cup matches from the Round of 32.

The first FFA Cup match broadcast live on Fox Sports will be on the opening night on Tuesday 29 July 2014. All broadcast matches will kick off at 7.30pm.

FFA Cup gets backing for three years

That’s like 0.025% of their net profit for one year – won’t even be noticed.
Maybe they should have doubled it to 8M.

FFA Cup gets backing for three years

10 FFA Cup games plus all finals live on Asia’s biggest sports Pay TV channel Ten Sports.

Fox sports Australia will have at least the same FFA package, you would think.

The dollars are starting to roll in for the FFA Cup, it might even pay for itself and be around for a while.

FFA Cup gets backing for three years

Why are Mariners fuming at Arnold.
Arnold didn’t want to sell him when he was at Mariners, but Mariners sold him to Shanghai for a few sheckels then they had to buy him back on loan.

Now SFC bought him off Shanghai for a few sheckels for a loan spell of one year.
How is this any of Arnold’s fault?

CCM got the half million and will spend it on another good up and coming Sydney junior who they enticed to their academy.
CCM are the ones stealing players from SFC, not the other way around.

Ibini was originally from Sydney and played in their youth comp.

Ibini leaves Mariners for Sydney F.C.
