Can I just say, before we pile on the Roosters here…
This all assumes that the Cowboys/Penrith/Tigers put in a bid in that initial year. I don’t think that’s the case and to be honest, I don’t think any of those teams have ever put in bids (although that will likely change in the next few weeks).
The teams that initially missed out were the Sharks and Souths.
Careful growth the key to long-term NRLW success
Fair enough. But I think it is a little more than just vision given these quotes last week:
“The reason I want to go to 10 teams next year is because there will be four clubs applying for the two spots, so why not just give them all four.
“Why have two clubs miss out if they feel they can field a team?
“There’s an argument that the depth of players isn’t there and you may injure women if they’re not to the same standard but I think with the two state authorities running their competitions, I think there probably is enough players.
“There are a number of women’s teams in the New South Wales and Queensland Cup, so there are a lot of women who are playing the game.”
My concern is that we are suddenly moving to a more rapid pace and I worry whether the talent is there to support it.
Careful growth the key to long-term NRLW success
Bigbill, if we have the same type of person dominating our media then there is very little opportunity for diversity of opinion. And also very little opportunity to have a nuanced conversation about anything.
It's 2022, 'the heat of the moment' is not an excuse for homophobia
You are missing out if you are going to wait that long!
I’ve heard nothing to indicate that at this stage the Bulldogs are interested in having an NRLW team.
Have the Brisbane Broncos been a victim of their own NRLW success?
Rob, I don’t know for certain, but I don’t think the Cowboys put in a bid initially for an NRLW team. I would be very surprised if they are not the next cab off the rank.
Have the Brisbane Broncos been a victim of their own NRLW success?
Thanks Paul – sorry I didn’t see this sooner.
I actually don’t think that that is Millie Boyle kicking the ball… I might be wrong there.
Corban Baxter (nee McGregor) is who you are thinking of. Corban has always played for the Roosters in the NRLW. Its a bit confusing because there are another two McGregor’s in the NRLW – Page and Raecene.
Have the Brisbane Broncos been a victim of their own NRLW success?
Unbelievable to be 16-0 with someone in the sin bin and then score 22 unanswered points. I’m still in shock!!
Have the Brisbane Broncos been a victim of their own NRLW success?
Albo, I noticed the same thing with Ali and wondered whether she was injured. Aitken did most of the kicking on the day and also made a couple of errors. Upton was completely nullified too thanks to the good defence of the Roosters and the pressure they put her under.
Have the Brisbane Broncos been a victim of their own NRLW success?
Clint, the other thing the Roosters did very very well on the weekend was limit the impact of Tamika Upton. Temara kicked to Upton often and the defence was right up on her. Nullified her impact completely.
Have the Brisbane Broncos been a victim of their own NRLW success?
Big Daddy, I wonder though whether there is a contract with the venue, broadcast organised etc etc
Have the Brisbane Broncos been a victim of their own NRLW success?
Dutski, I was so closely following the judiciary last night.
Togatuki has been IMMENSE for the Roosters this year so it is a huge boost that she is available.
I also wonder whether the Broncs played their GF the week before too – they beat Parra by a huge margin and enough to win the Minor Premiership.
Have the Brisbane Broncos been a victim of their own NRLW success?
I agree – but very hard to demand that sort of excellence when women are not full time professional athletes.
Australia are the World Cup champions: CWC final talking points
Kailash, is it that simple? Australia have lost Healy cheaply several times in this tournament. But what happens when that happens is we see the likes of Lanning, Mooney or McGrath step up. That’s one of the things that makes this team so incredible – the depth of their batting line up.
Australia are the World Cup champions: CWC final talking points
Simoc, I think in order to ensure that competition arises we absolutely need to see more investment from other countries.
Australia have been the dominant team for three years. On the sideline for this tournament were Georgia Wareham, Tayla Vlaeminck and Sophie Molineaux.
I almost feel like the Australia A team would have been competitive.
To make sure we continue to develop and create top quality cricketers across the world, it is going to require investment from other countries.

Two of their batters retired hurt.
Clinical Aussies make the World Cup final: CWC semi-final talking points
Glad you enjoyed, Winston.

Could not agree with you more, Clear as mud, the bowling has been solid, but can absolutely be better. The batting and the depth of that line up is just so difficult to beat at the moment!
Clinical Aussies make the World Cup final: CWC semi-final talking points
The Saints have been so good this year. There is always focus on their big name players but Rachel Pearson, Elsie Albert and Jaime Chapman have been incredible.
NRLW 2021: Existing teams dominant as semi-finals approach
That would be such a good game, Scott!!
Although, can you imagine a Titans v Broncos GF at Redcliffe?
NRLW 2021: Existing teams dominant as semi-finals approach
Me too – as an Eels fan it was a devastating moment.
NRLW 2021: Existing teams dominant as semi-finals approach
Dutski, agree with you about Emma. She has been incredible. Obviously coming from a 7s background, she has had the benefit of being a full time professional athlete which I think has put her in a class above the rest. I think as we move toward professionalisation in the NRLW we will see players of similar talent begin to emerge.
Unfortunately for BVW is an ACL. Such a shame ahead of the 2022 NRLW season and a RLWC.
NRLW 2021: Existing teams dominant as semi-finals approach
But are they everybody’s second team because they are lovable losers?
