I think that Rankine has been the best young small forward this season, especially considering he’s played in a relatively poor Suns team. However, if I could select Serong as a forward flank I would pick him over Rankine. Unfortunately, he’s not available to be selected as a forward as he isn’t a forward. Picking players in their positions build the team, not selecting the best 22 players available.

Naughton is better than McKay, but Naughton has had one good game this season. You can’t kick 5 goals in 7 games and expect to be touted as a premier forward option. Baker has been very good this year, could definitely argue him in the side. Wouldn’t have Cerra over Perryman/Walsh/McCluggage on a wing, and wouldn’t put Serong inside the centre instead of Smith/McGrath/Simpkin/Brayshaw.

I agree with you that Rozee’s 2019 was better than Rankine’s 2020, but for this side Rankine fills that small forward role who can create something out of nothing. Miers can also do it to an extent, but Rankine is a genuinely exciting talent
