This was a fantastic read and in my view the correct opinion.
Spirit of the game pft if you’re given two warnings that is more than within the spirit of the game.

All tremble when the Mankad shows its claws

I have never understood the massive contingent against Welbeck. I’ve admired him since the beginning but his coming of age season in 2011/12 firmed in my mind that he was a player United had to invest time in. This article sums up very well the qualities that I admire in Danny. The people that say he isn’t clinical enough need only look to Sturridge. The same argument was being made about him two years ago and now he is a machine. Welbeck can only improve in his ability to be clinical. He has shown countless times that he has the skills to be a top striker, and playing wide right hasn’t helped his stats. His qualities of pace, vision, and a feel for the game are something that it is difficult to build in a player that doesn’t have them, learning to hold your nerve and finish every chance that comes to you is something you can learn through experience. Welbeck will get to a point where he is a feared player. Just give him the time his quality has shown he deserves.

Danny Welbeck is Manchester United

It’s a tough situation for the referee. I don’t think he was in a clear position to see that Berisha’s lunge made contact with the ball first. You see a player go studs up into another player’s face and you think you’re left with little option. I think Berisha was unlucky, he has to go for the ball and it was desperation rather than intent that led to him going in with such a lunging studs up motion. That being said, going in studs up always give the ref the opportunity to send you off. I’m not convinced that he should of been sent off, but you can’t feel too aggrieved that he was.
