Yeah was good to see some emotion from Dixon when he got that first goal. He was going up against a couple of Carlton defenders all night but tried hard. They’re a few pieces short of an AFL team at the moment but once they get there, he’ll have an opportunity to make an impact I should think.

Gold Coast Suns rise with new stars apparent

Agree with you Damien, after watching this, I reckon I’ll try to avoid Gold Coast matches, and imagine once GWS joins next year. As you say, that will be a whole lot of poor games to watch.

Start of a long road ahead for Gold Coast

I want to know how people (including a well-known columnist called Mike) can honestly rate Buddy no. 1 in the league when he’s inconsistent, frequently inaccurate and costs his team with poor marking and by giving away free kicks.

I get it he looks good and does some exciting thing. Great, I’ll take a winner over that any day.

Buddy’s great at ground level for his size but for a tall forward he also really struggles in marking contests and dropped some overhead sitters against the Crows. Also, he is at the top of the list for free kicks against every year, which makes me think it isn’t the umpires.

Not to say that he isn’t going to have some ripper games this season but you can’t live off a couple of great games a season and the kind of game he played against Adelaide is not good enough for someone who’s supposed to be one of the top players in the league.

Buddy Franklin must step up for the Hawks

Settle Redb, winning round 1 doesn’t mean the Bombers are top 4 material yet, don’t listen too much to the papers!

Youth may be the answer, but not for Cats

Over the past few seasons it has been obvious that the youngsters Geelong has tried to blood mostly haven’t been up to it and it’s going to be up to their veterans to win them games this year. While this year they still have a chance at the flag, it is the following years where there’s going to be some interesting decisions to make, as you say.
