My old man would say “ never argue with an idiot, they will take you down to their level and beat you with experience”.
Might be appropriate in this thread?

SPIRO ZAVOS: 'Crazy brave' Boks are a team for the ages - but key decisions cleared their path to glory

So you find the commentary towards Barnes unacceptable. But because Berry replied to an emailed through an offical process regarding decisions made it is ok for Rassie and his supporters to behave likewise?
That’s a hypocritical position if there ever was one. It also doesn’t matter how many others you believe have failed in their responsibilities in this matter, it doesn’t make it acceptable.
Should also be noted that this defence didn’t prevent Rassie from being suspended, nor should have it.
Fans are disingenuous with concern for officials, when they are on the winning side, when the very team and coaching group they support have behaved likewise previously.

SPIRO ZAVOS: 'Crazy brave' Boks are a team for the ages - but key decisions cleared their path to glory

Doesn’t change my point re Rassie by saying this guy did it as well..
I’m sure Nick Berrys family felt exactly the same way as Barnes.

Just a commonly used moniker for a couple of reasons, none the least being as he turned it down.

I would have taken a wallabies win in the final like that. A lot there for SA supports to be proud of.

I believe Sir Richie was being sarcastic there mate.
Suggest that SA & Rassie aren’t exactly saints in this department either. Lions 1st test Rassie social media sook and resultant social media pile on from the republic supports towards the refereeing group. Pot/ kettle.

Eddie Jones quits as Wallabies coach - 'Sometimes you have to eat s--t for others to eat caviar'

TBH, my fear is this will allow the real issues, and those perpetrators to remain.

Fozzy?

Cannot agree, Fiji should rightly feel aggrieved regarding Raynal’s handling.
Caveat here Fiji played poor knock out rugby.
However a number of occasions Rynal’s decision making and timing was inconsistent.
Items like not penalising playing the ball on the ground, then penalising.
As such the breakdown was a mess advantaging England. They were good enough, just, to use it.
Instantly blowing penalties for Fiji with no advantage allowed, that’s tough on an open style team. (Late first half around the England 30)
then feeling ok with allowing an eternity calling out Lawes five times to let go whilst he slows ruckball down in the red zone, with no penalty.
The Fiji coach was graceful and polite. Don’t take that as meaning Raynal’s abilities were anywhere near a standard for the quarterfinal of a WC.

Five things: RWC quarters deliver rugby's greatest weekend, Cheika's timely Wallabies reminder, officiating wild west

Correct. My understanding (happy to be linked to evidence otherwise) is that Wasp were placed into receivership last season and are no longer playing at any level currently.
Not sure what relevance this has?

Tbh Brett, the results have been atrocious. However no worse than what has occurred across the last 3 years.
Why do we need players like Hodge, who hasn’t impressed at Super level much less test level across the last few years?
Samu, has been quality at what he does well, ball running and operating in the wide channels, however again he has never impressed at this level and it hasn’t again done much for the Wallabies across the last few seasons.
In saying that I wouldn’t be surprised to see either of these lads in the match day 23 across the WC. That’s the impression I get from Eddie.
I will take a change of ideas, introduction of new talent/ left field approach over the continuing banging of our heads against a brick wall for same result.
I totally agree regarding THP. It is a major concern and whether TT can hit the ground running by the WC I’m not sure? The next players up are 2 seasons away from this level from the looks. If we cannot hold our scrum through 80, then trouble awaits.

Wallabies fans appear comfortable with 0 and 4 – but some obvious questions remain

Unfortunately for NSW he is a Queenslander….. the fact you think he would highlights the difference in attitude towards Origin. 😁

Freddie’s Cooked: How tactical blunders, selection mistakes and a failure to learn doomed the Blues boss

You and your facts….. TBA I was traveling when the game was on so missed it. I think I’d be more concerned as a blues supporter about what occurred post the intercept. Sounds like the last couple of series could be summed up right there.

Freddie’s Cooked: How tactical blunders, selection mistakes and a failure to learn doomed the Blues boss

I would like to highlight the fact that I made no mention of the resulting injury. I am a believer in the action/ process should be the focus. Not the resulting injury.
Hindsight has no relevance in my assertion that at the time a multitude of failures occurred.

Rugby News: 'Factually incorrect' - SANZAAR hit back over Wilson 'disrespect' sledge as Suli re-signs

This is a tough one.
It certainly warrants an answer from the officials that night, as to how exactly we ended up with direct contact to the head. A no arms ‘grasscutter’ tackle and no penalty at a minimum.
I would also be questioning how a player under what was obviously a direct contact to the head, was rushed from the field for? The individuals within that discussion group should be asked some hard questions in light of the current environment. I’m looking at the officials, doctors and trainers.
As far as Harry’s comment goes, I like to hear honest replies from the players. I have grown tired of the standard vanilla response. My only advice for Harry would be that perhaps some honest commentary around the Reds and his own performances this year would be more beneficial.
Ask serious questions of the officials by all means, but best it be done through offical channels.

The Government might not be onboard with the tax deductions either?

The Wrap: Is 'enigma' fullback the Wright move for Wallabies, SR not burning but smouldering

Not quite that bad, for me both the Tars and Reds are better sides than their performances are indicating.
I actually am a firm believer that the biggest issue with Oz rugby atm is coaching pathways and their ability to provide quality coaching at the various levels.
As for my comments re the comp. 8 out of 12 cheapens the product. Play extra rounds if need be, to provide a full season, but 3/4 of the comp, please.

Reds in peril, Brumbies battle to save home quarter: Super Rugby final week scenarios and predictions for every team

I think that concept has been shelved for good reason.
Oz rugby needs games against real competitive opposition. No one at a high performance level is interested in a separate split comp. I believe that includes the TV broadcasters as well.

Reds in peril, Brumbies battle to save home quarter: Super Rugby final week scenarios and predictions for every team

Some serious soul searching is needed from the organisers of this competition. The only scenarios we should be considering is the makeup of 3rd and 4th.
It’s a 12 team comp for Christ sake!!! For me none of the teams below the Hurricanes are deserving of a final spot. Some of them have been quite ordinary for most of the year. (I’m looking at you, my beloved Reds).

It scares me slightly to hear Geoff’s news regarding this “new technology”!

And thanks for the Wrap again mate, glad I missed the Rebel v Highlanders game!

The Wrap: Finals picture still unclear after a difficult week for rugby

It is not the intention of this column to draw conclusions on Guyton’s death
Guyton, Tu Wylie, Geoff Old and Carl Hayman are just some of the prominent New Zealand rugby players whose dire situations speak to the extent of the problem. There are countless of others suffering; players from elite and club backgrounds.
Sorry mate but the second statement seems to draw a definitive conclusion.
It is a tragedy for Billy’s friends and family, this occurs far too often in our world today and I extend my condolences to all affected.
I’m positive about the steps forward world rugby has made in the concussion space. (Caveat here is that I felt we were late to begin the journey). I also feel that the relationship with contact sport and CTE is complicated. Especially considering the ongoing studies and the fact that we are dealing with human beings. Not all are the same, not all are effected the same and to ignore other complicated aspects like mental/ physical attributes I believe is dangerous.
I do agree that there is still much work to be carried out in this space and hope that it is carried out with a systematic and scientific approach, that way we get the result that is needed.
