I’ll put my hand up as a Tane critic. He had a great game tonight. I’d happily say his best game in super rugby. His running and defense was better than their last win over the crusaders (+no crying). But one swallow does not a summer make. Lets see how he goes over the next few weeks, hopefully only upwards.

'No one backed us': $8 outsiders Waratahs upset Crusaders AGAIN as Edmed steps up to deliver famous win

Fair 4 injuries are anywhere from ideal.
However if we look at individuals:
Horton- not wanted by NSW, minimal impact at Force last season.
Atu Moli – walking dead with multiple injuries.
Harry Hoopert- ACL surgery probably wont see him this season. Injured prior to Force call up.
Kaitu’u: form desperately low and has moved from captain to bench if lucky.
Marley Pearce: good prospect but 20 years old
Ben Funnell- joined late 2024. Unlikwly to adapt to systems for another 2-4/weeks.

There is no one that screams selection or even looks anywhere close to Wallabies selection. I believe luring a decent well known prop would have made a difference last night- Slipper/aalatoa/Bell would have served us better than White/Donaldson.

'We needed that': Gordon, Kellaway star in Rebels' epic comeback win as Force capitulate

Let alone half the team. Forwards are a shambles when it comes to scrumming and anything but lineouts. They had time to recruit but they decided having 3x 10s was more importsnt than some front rowers with super experience.

Berry was good, clear and concise. Thats coming from a Force fan. Nothing to complain about. Good game to watch anyway.

Force are definitely weaker. Scrums are atrocious

'Tough call': Reds too good for Tahs in cracking Aussie derby, as controversial penalty try, yellow to Jorgo proves telling

Paisami absolutely dominated Perese. His tackling was immense and running looked great too.

He was unreal when he started. I dont know whats happened. Not a great look when guys look worse the longer they are in an environment.

He’s he a bit of Tatafu PN about his tackling technique.

Tane still isnt even super rugby level. He’s like the waratahs version of Lawson Creighton. Too much off the foot not enough running and deception in his passing game. Im not convinced he will develop into a super rugby level player let alone an international.

Not to mention Mark Telea….

Nobody Goes For Pints with Joe: 'Cult-like figure' with an 'exhausting' style who might just restore pride to a rabble

Why Halangahu? What has he achieved? Wasn’t he backs coach for the Blues with significant strike power in Barrett, RTS, C Clarke, Ioane etc – yet very average results. Id be staying well clear.

Reckon the Kiwis would pick a coach with Larkham’s level of success? The coach’s nationality is irrelevant when the chasm in coaching prowess is clear. Joe is the right man, now onwards and upwards.

Love a good Simpsons reference

I want to see the Wallabies absolutely poleaxe Japan when the time comes. Be in their face and ruthless. Let that vile snake understand the true meaning of upbrage. Nothing against the amazingly humble Japanese folk, its purely personal.

I am very excited if the appointment is to suceed. Joe is meticulous and detail orientated, in stark contrast to the aloof, detail excempt and Rugby League indoctrinated predeccesor. Assistant coaches are key however, and i’m not sure Australia even has good enough coaches for those roles.

Nucifora has has been confirmed for a consultancy role btw. Was in a previous Christy article.

Rugby News: RA starts Wallabies coach 'sprint', 'SBW-like move' mooted for NRL star, Gatland wants 'mark' erased

What I want to see is an aligned coaching team. If we get a renowned head coach and 4 ex leaguies count me out. The attack and defensive coaches are just as important as a head coach.

Agreed – but also in our favour is completely new crop of Kiwi coaches and many Kiwi stars leaving the comp. I hope this is the year that Ozzie sides actually look competitive.
