Sydney does NOT deserve, need, or want a second AFL team. We tolerate the Swans presence as something different to the established League culture and history within Sydney. It’s just there as an alternative if you are that way inclined. An acquired taste. The AFL needs to realise that Sydney is not, and will never be, a fan base for Aussie rules. Especially the western suburbs. The NRL is under no illusion that Melboune needs a second team. Both codes just need to respect the others sovereignty in its respective city. The Sydney public will view a second AFL team as invasion of the Rugby League holy ground. It has just as much history here as AFL does in Melbourne. Things should be left the way they are.
