Anyone douting Petaia obviously didn’t watch his hit out against the highlanders earlier this year.

Anyone that runs through a new zealand super rugby team like did deserves the plaudits he’s getting. Sadly he got injured shortly after but this match was the individual performance of the season from an ausiie player.

Every time he touched the ball he did something special. It included running straight over the top of no less than Ben Smith, sitting Shannon frizell on his backside from a full tilt charge that would’ve normally seen Mr frizell run through most test forwards and it included several breaks, half breaks, perfect passes, off loads and kicks for territory. He’s the biggest talent in australian rugby and if we are to do anything of note at this world cup he must be in the team wearing the 13 jersey. i am certain of that.

Well done Cheika. Eased Petaia back in from injury with the plan to unleash him on the unsuspecting English in his preferred position.

get your humble pie ready people

With a massive selection gamble, Michael Cheika rearranges the deck chairs once again

yes i recall quades 2011 rwc form was sensational… umm no it wasnt’… and really that was the last time he was our genuine 1st choice 10… for anyone to think he should have anything to do with the wallabies has no idea!

Reports: Petaia set for stunning quarter-final start

Kuridrani does not have a link game. He’s not the player we need at 13. Never has been sadly. He’s a one dimensional winger that wasn’t quite quick enough to play wing. So he was moved to the centres by the brumbies but never developed into a proper 13. Of course he’s a phenomenal ball carrier and he has his moments in defence but that doesn’t quite cut it at test level. End of discussion

Quade was one of the most ordinary yet over-rated players to ever have played for the wallabies.

sorry it is just so

Kuridrani doesn’t have the all-round game we need at 13.

Did you see him carve up a new zealand super rugby franchise earlier this year? Made it look like he was a pro amongst amateurs.

He is a once a generation player

Eddie Jones has blinked.

To drop his no 10 when he has done nothing wrong for half a dozen tests says it all.

He fears Kerevi! Tuilagi to mark Kerevi is easily dealt with.

Cue Kerevi as a decoy, out to our boy Petaia. Carnage out-wide to ensue.

Eddie Jones proves two can play at the selection surprise game with England team announcement

I’m no fan of JOC but he scored a try in that match and played relatively well behind a dominated pack. yet he copped the blame.

Something tells me having Ben Alexander at tight-head and other light weights up front may have had more to do with that loss than the no 10, considering our pack was decimated, particularly at every scrum.

But never let facts get in the way of a witch hunt. always look at whose in the backline because if you didn’t you’d need to take the time to try and understand the forwards.

I agree White should start but I don’t think reversing the order of the 9’s is anywhere near insane.

Nor is playing Beale when considering he will be the much needed 2nd play-maker now that JOC has finally and rightly been punted.

everyone that starts out has played 0 minutes in a new position at test level

I’d say Petaia since his spectacular play at outside centre for the reds before getting injured was always the preferred choice at 13 for this RWC.

He’s just been brought back at stages from injury via 40 and 50 minutes on the wing to ease him back into rugby. I’d say Cheika knows we ain’t winning the world cup without Petaia at outside centre. So it’s do or die anyway. If we make the semi he has the game you mention under his belt in the position we need him playing to win this RWC.

If we lose it will have been worth the punt as JOC aint bring home the bacon.

Not really a new position. He is an outside centre.

Reports: Petaia set for stunning quarter-final start

Why? He is young but already looks a quality test player at the world cup thus far. He is the perfect prototypical outside centre outside the perfect prototype of a crash ball 12. There is a lot to like about a Kerevi-Petaia centre combo. Its probably why this was the first choice combo at the reds and why this combo were killing it before Petaia’s injury.

JOC has done 4/5ths of the proverbial in 2019 and deserves to be dropped. Kuridrani doesn’t have the allround game we need at 13.

Great selection!

You beauty! 👍 😁 🏉 🥊

Hearing a great call on Petaia selected at outside centre and JOC being dropped.

Hodge is on the wing giving us a weapon of a kick for field position and 50m penalties.

Beale at fullback ahead of DHP is a big call!

Rugby World Cup quarter-finals expert tips: End the desperation

There is no doubt in my mind the Wallabies line-out cost us any chance of winning the last RWC. There were two crucial moments in that final, just as we needed to win a lineout to apply pressure, it went dysfunctional and we could not apply the pressure.

Many people look at poor lineouts and immediately blame selection of two opensides etc etc. people blame hooper/pocock far too often when talking lineouts. Great to read an article based on fact not perception.

Fact is at the last world cup Stephen Moores throwing and dysfunction with the lineout captain Simmons was the problem. It had nothing to do with Hooper or Pocock.

The difference that could make the difference in 2019 is a much more functional line-out which could pay off in a crucial moment.

We need to give credit to the Rodda-Arnld combo but also mention that Latu’s throwing has been crucially important. In fact as good as players Moore and P-Nau were they were poor lineout throwers and now that we’ve got a bunch of hookers that are good (not great mind you) we are reaping the rewards with the confidence this brings the line-out.

In terms of defending at lineout I think we need to acknowledge the intellectual property that Simon Cron brought to australian rugby via the waratahs. He single handedly turned the worst or close to worst lineout in super rugby to the best/close to the best, certainly as a defensive lineout, in his short time at the tahs. He was a bigger loss to the tahs and aussie rugby than anyone recently I can tell you.

His attention to detail and coaching should not be underestimated and I can see from the vision the wallabies have adapted his cues and teachings are being used by the Wallabies.
