The greatest game of all… ????…. That no one else around the world has heard of

Welcome to the NRL, Mark - here's everything you need to know about The Greatest Game of All

You may have noticed that rugby is one of the most popular sports in the world. Why does it need a revolution? Because in a small part of the world in Australia people have a problem with it? Yawn!

Rugby needs a revolution - if the game is to endure then penalties must be scrapped for all but three reasons

why?

the game is more popular around the world than ever before.

Just because we are a league dominant culture doesn’t mean anyone else is… most notably none of the powerful home nations….

It is on us to adjust/adapt not them!

The scrum saga: It does not feel right that teams are exploiting the penalty 'treasure hunt'

ummm we do realise the viewer nos in England broke records from what I’ve heard…and not just for a rugby game but of anything…. I’d say likewise in SA, and I’d say most rugby fans around the world would also have viewed this game…
Unlike say league, there is more than one way to play the game which is why it is so interesting and why it is a million times better and more popular around the world…..where again is the problem?

Rugby’s descent into cynical play: Why neutral fans should back the All Blacks for the good of the game

oh dear i wonder if the hundreds of millions of rugby fans world wide including the packed european stadiums care if you watch fewer rugby games?

Rugby’s descent into cynical play: Why neutral fans should back the All Blacks for the good of the game

At risk of offending the author and probably most Australian rugby fans…. this sentiment is exactly why we are a rugby joke. I was brought up to be convinced that scrums should not have such a huge influence on the game (call it league influence) until spending ten winters in English rugby (where league is considered the joke) and slowly learning how important the scrum sets the platform for all winning rugby. I could not disagree more with this article and I urge the author and anyone reading this to consider changing their mind. If we do not we will continue to spiral down the pecking order in world rugby and the rest of the world will not care. Consider the sell out stadiums in Europe that all highly value scrum dominance and penalties, and think why on earth would these powerful rugby nations care what aussies think about scrums?

Hamish and Eddie have to go!

SPIRO ZAVOS: My message to Hamish McLennan and Eddie Jones: 'In the name of God, go'

too much is being made about this selection.

you pick your best team that you have available to you that you think will carry out the game plan you feel will beat the opposition.

had all of you been selectors in 95 you all would have left Lomu in the stands to pay his dues.

If you’re good enough you’re old enough

Yes him playing a staring role in them making the final that year was a bad investment. Nice try

let me prove i’m an aussie (one that just happens to be from a different state to a banana bender)

Bradmans’ average 99.94 (would’been a hundred if he’s just got 4 runs in his last innings)
Buckley never had a chance… but he did make it back!
Phar lap was a national treasure
Tim-Tams are awesome
and Queenslander’s are as mad as cut snakes and they all have little man syndrome!

I rest my case sir

Beale had his moments and remains one of the tahs best players.

Rebels made 0 effort to retain Quade on the other hand. Yet another team that has been glad to see the most over-rated player in history jog on.

A backrower that does nothing but seagull, give away penalties, and every now and then do a good run?

That’s what we need?

Higginbotham? My word is it 2011?

2015 RWC-

He was our best player in the world cup final coming on for Giteau who get ko’d but frankly he should’ve played 12 the entire time. He was our 2nd best against England in coming off the bench to Horne who got injured early, and probably our best against Wales when Folau sat out injured. So much so Folau offered to sit out the quarter-final to allow Beale to start before Cheika said no.

Cheika’s mistake at the RWC was not playing beale in the starting side. He’s not making the same mistake again.

Whether it is at 12 or 15 doesn’t matter. He is the 2nd play-maker.

He is known world-wide as a marquee player. a world xv candidate at his best. It is only Australians that don’t rate the likes of him. You must understand the rest of the world doesn’t know of the ant-tah bias we have here.

2012 he was injured a fair bit from memory and I don’t recall being his best seasons when he was at the rebels.

I think you’ll find 2010-11 he was world class. 2012-13 he was a little ordinary, but 2014-16 he was back to his world class best, as he was in 2016-2017 when he was the highest paid player in the world at wasps and was being raved about as just about the best player in the world.

Since his return from Wasps he has been inconsistent, but his best is world class and that’s why he keeps being selected even when he hasn’t played that well. To say he wouldn’t make those sides you mention is simply wrong. Grant you maybe, just maybe, NZ don’t have room for him in their 15 but I think they would not leave him out of their 23.

Beale is world class and would be in just about anysides 15 and in every sides match day 23.

Cooper goes alright in Brisbane club rugby

Japan are the best coached team in the world.

The speed of and delivery from the ruck and crispness off the first 2 passes from the ruck sets japan apart from every other team.

It will allow their agile outside backs to win this game, as will there amazing off loading skills.

Their defense is fantastic in its organisation and they have great passion, but in saying that they will concede tries simply because SA will have them for power. I just don’t think this will be enough for SA to be able to keep up with them both in the game and on the score-board.

Cheslin Kolbe for SA will be decisive in that he couldn’t possibly be 100% after that ankle injury. If he is 100% that might undo my theory I grant you.

Can Japan repeat the Brighton Miracle at the 2019 Rugby World Cup?

Japan will beat the Boks by 7.
