Yet Bumrah went at 8.75 Economy rate for Mumbai Indians team. You see two teams score 250 runs each and this is a pretty ER compared to any others bowlers. He is the best all format bowler in all conditions right now.

Having said this, IPL has to go. I oppose when anglo sphere speaks against difficult test pitches that England or Australia plays (or atleast they make themselves unplayable). But those are the matches I want to see where bowlers create opportunities and batsman use oppirtunities to turn them to runs. This IPL sucks.

MUST WATCH: JFM obliterates IPL bowling attack - even Bumrah! - for 15-ball 50... and keeps going

I find it boring and I stopped watching it. But I always read the game and see who is doing well from cricinfo.

Despite your concerns, I notice that Pat Cummins have done really well in the games. And of course Bumrah as well. So good bowlers do well in any conditions and so are the batsmen expected to do well in any conditions (I think Chennai pitch has been more competetive to batsmen or bowlers).

World Cup chances up in the air but Smith makes Major call on T20 future, Green dumped despite huge IPL deal

There are lot more Khans, Patels, Sharmas, Mohammad’s playing the cricket today. I think my favorite first name is Mike or Michael. Not many players come to my mind other than Michael Clarke.

Having said that Anglo sphere usually addresses a person by last name (except for close circle). At least in India we use first name to address a person.

Matt, Mat or Matthew... The Best XI that shares the popular great name to play top-level cricket

Mohammad is the common surname and they’d Trump all the 11 you’d name. Also I think Abdul as well.

Surprise surprise. There is even more common name that you didn’t notice. Any guess?

Also you can include Angelo Mathew’s, SL all rounder.

5 match series is too long. No one cares to watch in Australia except if Poms are mauled in Ashes.
India must play 3 match series with every team including Aus, England, SL or WI who ever it is to develop the game of test cricket.

Australia vs India: A stronger Test rivalry than the Ashes down under in recent times?

Why stress over milestones when you’re clinching matches and series? True, it’s crucial for batsmen to step up when it truly counts and put up big numbers. Double hundreds seem rarer these days.

I reckon Bush is spot on. Cricket is not just about the numbers. We might give a bloke a hard time for scoring a ton in a losing effort, trying to chase down 350. But looking back, I’d take a player like Shubman Gill any day, setting the stage with his 91, so the likes of Pujara, Pant, Rahane, or Sundar can build on that and form a solid partnership.

You don’t know the context unless you watch the whole game some times not by looking at stats.

Australia's batters only scored three tons last summer: Why it is time to move past the obsession of the 'big score'

I hate Sachin for the way he carried beyond his retirement. Same as Jimmie does for England. Otherwise Sachin was a great player.

Australia postpone Afghanistan series again due to 'conditions for women and girls getting worse'

I also want to say look out for Jurel. My conscious mind says Jaiswal or Sarfaraz Khan may not succeed with their technique but this young keeper batsman is amazing. He’s not Pant who plays flamboyantly but has great technique to be in the team just for keeping or batting. Looking forward to chat in the winter time (I am in Northern hemisphere ????).

Kohli still the big fish but Gill breathes new life into an Indian team which could sink Australia next summer

Kohli was not the best.

I’d say Ravindra Jadeja is the best.

Even in slips I think Rahul Dravid was the best similar to how Mark Waugh was for Australia n rarely he dropped a catch.

Totally agree with your assessment Jeff.

But those hard hands are a death roll in NZ or England conditions. A batsman need to adjust when to play soft or hard hands because a lot of time soft hands don’t nick to slip.

I think Rahul Dravid was a master of the art in Tests.

Back in his playing days, facing WI was a danger. Then Aus domination continued even though SA threatened to dominate every team.
Sachin vs Aus:- 55.00
Sachin vs England: 51.73
Sachin vs SA: 42.46
Sachin vs NZ:- 46.91
Lets take the same SENA countries AWAY average
Sachin at Australia:- 53.20
Sachin at England:- 54.31
Sachin at SA:- 46.44
Sachin at NZ:- 49.52
Let us learn to appreciate good batsman. Lot of Sachins stat padding came at the end of his returment season and it has only affected his home season not the overseas. But still he remains one of the best at his time.

Hopefully, India won’t take moral high ground like poms or convicts. Let them play their natural game.

CA makes Perth call - where and when Australia's blockbuster Tests against India will be played

Smithie shouldn’t be opening at any costs. Not just losing an opener, but risking a solid number 3 or 4 bat as well. It’s gonna cost the Aussies big time.

Except that Sachin and Kallis never played vs Afghan.

And Sachin had exceptional average vs Australia at Australia with players like Warne, Mc Grath and Gillespie. Enough said.

I don’t see any non NSW players come close to that in recent times against the Indian team in Indian conditions.

Jurel is the guy to watch. Forget about Jaiswal, Sarfaraz and other names as they do disappear outside India.

Test Mortem: Epic comeback win but cracks remain in line-up, Shield form has to count for something, Pat should bat higher

I believe this is gonna be the last series for the likes of Sharma, Kohli, Ashwin and Jadeja. I don’t think Rahane or Pujara will be part of the team.

Also Bumrah, Siraj, Rahul are young they may guide the younger generations. Pant if he comes through will be great to watch but who knows how he is gonna cop up after this long gap.

I am also sure that lot of hype around young players like Jaiswal and Sarfaraz Khan will fade once they play in Australia. Looking at their technique, many wouldn’t survive seaming ball or swinging ball. Sehwag did but he did in a brilliant way by attacking when there is a hint of leeway. He did so brilliantly without talking about Bazball.

One guy to watch in Indian cricket is Jurel, an young wicket keeper who is not just great at keeping but brilliant and composed with the bat.

That was a farcical game from Aussies n Steve buckner. Overall a great series.

Test Mortem: Aussie aura living rent free in Kiwi minds, Marnus officially in a form slump, DRS needs review

To me if Bazball wins series in Australia and India then it makes sense.

They’d hardly scrapped to draw against India and Australia at home. Probably not worth the hype.

Bazball beaten: Indian young guns' nerveless stand aces chase, ensures Poms' first series loss under McCullum

It’s a bloody good innings given the state of the pitch, and don’t forget, the Indians have to have a bat on this same surface later on.

Bazball doesn’t always bring home the win, but Root’s effort was top-notch. That said, India’s gotta bag a lead of 200 or they might find themselves on the losing side pretty quick.

Root silences Bazball critics while returning to form with ton as England keep comeback series win hopes alive

So, in the spirit of the great game and with a nod to Ben Duckett’s insight, let’s tip our hats off to England. They’ve not only won matches but seem to have won them with such grace that one might say, “Oh, did the match start? I must have missed it amidst England’s victory parade.”

McCullum hits back at Bazball critics after England's embarrassing rout: 'I don't want our guys to ever doubt themselves'

I am pretty sure England will win one more match and keep everyone shut. Because thats what I learnt from Ben Duckett today.
“When you see Players from the opposition playing like that, it almost feels like we should take some credit that they’re playing differently than how other people play test cricket”.
England 3 India 0.
I think we should call them Moral trophy

McCullum hits back at Bazball critics after England's embarrassing rout: 'I don't want our guys to ever doubt themselves'

I’d say that if India keep producing the wickets like we saw in the first two test matches against England. India will get proper batsman as well.

End of Argument.

Gill finally catches a break as century sets England record target - and Stokes wishes it was more

India never had such a great quick attack 5 years back but they produced great wickets.

I think last 5 years wickets have been bad and it also produces poor batsman.

You don’t need green wickets nor turning sand deserts to produce wicket taking bowlers. Bumrah and Shami as well as Siraj as shown they can fetch wickets all over world. But honestly the quality of batsman India produced has gone down very badly, from Sehwag, Sachin, Drvaid, Laxman and Ganguly who all can play spinner at ease to players who cant handle them.

world evolves so do we, so some countries emerge stronger and then weaker. Its always good that not one country dominate the scene.
