BBR,
“You need top quality players in your domestic league”
You need the players your domestic league can afford without going broke.

Scrap the Giteau Law: Rugby Australia should look to Rassie's 'Boks RWC recipe if it wants to re-join the big boys' table

HJ,
judging by the comments I read from AOTL (Anyone Other Than Lienster) the model is not beloved in Ireland either.

HJ,
“close calls would go to the local guy”
I think that’s what JS said would be his approach under the status quo anyway so just do it.

Don,
what’s happened to Cormac Daly?

'Not ideal': Reds star duo cop Super Rugby bans after red cards - but where's the consistency?

Don,
“we do not need to throw out the constitution, or made a radical change to representation and voting rights”
The way I read it one thing I’d like to see is a change to the nominations process to make it more open, transparent, accessible and not a closed shop at the whim of the incumbents and the Chair to “cherry pick” or “captain’s pick” directors who can shore up their power base or rubber stamp what they want.

The Wrap: Crusaders' shot clock fiasco and shhh, don’t put the moz on Darby

al,
The difference is people go into that knowing the goal is to punch people in the head. Hitting people in the head is the objective of the sport.
Contact with the head has been a penalty since 1908, the problem RL faces is that over time high contact has been legitimised,.
Plenty is made of the “old days” 70’s 80’s etc but if you watch games from that era the overall tackle height is far lower than currently. High tackles and swinging arms were actually penalised and players received suspensions.
The goal of contact football games should be to reward behaviour that doesn’t threaten the head of the players.
NRL seems to want to have a foot in each camp and them saying they take it seriously is a joke because they don’t want to alienate a large portion of their constituency.
Rule changes are required to reward the desired behaviour, ie: low tackling.
You can’t expect players and coaches to drop the tackle height if they are at a competitive disadvantage.

'Don't put short-term needs over long-term health': After his tenth concussion, is it time for Teddy to hang up the boots?

Hey Tony,
Lindsay Collins says “Hi”
His concussion record is horrible yet he keeps doing the same stuff.
I fear he is going to be a lab sample.

They could be members via any registered team though, no reason to have “fan” membership

COMMENT: Australian rugby is a depressing picture - the RA board must be axed and the constitution changed

It is what it is. The players gave the Refs the opportunity and the obligation to RC them.
Both avoidable and with a better option.
Nothing really in either of them but Laws are Laws.

“Rugby coach wants to see Rugby player play some Rugby”
Ah good on him, I hope he plays well and helps the Force but it would be better if he was an international level prop! 😂

What Joe Schmidt told Kurtley Beale about his Wallabies future

Work in progress though and not at all terrible.

PK,
calling the LO may be a bit much for Frost and Canham just yet but certainly as they get a bit more maturity I think.

Still going great, 18 games at Clermont so far, along with Folau
Fainga’a.

Fezza,
““I’m happy to do my job and make tackles and hit attacking breakdowns and work really hard around that set-piece stuff, which allows those guys to light up at the other end.””
You can’t have a team of Smith’s, just as you can’t have a team of Gleasons or Leotas, it’s about balance as he himself says.
The trick is getting the right players for the roles though!

Megeng,
it’s doable for registered members of affiliated Clubs but not for supporters who aren’t members. Mutuals and Unions for instance conduct elections where members vote at the AGM. There’s some difficulties of course and just now may not be the time to go down this road.
I do think Board nomination process needs to be made more accessible and that’s one area of governance where there is a legitimate grievance. The rest? Maybe not so much!

Don,
“Put Schuster in the Cronulla side at lock”
But doesn’t he want to be a 6, and isn’t that part of the problem?
And to change remember he has to be like the broken light bulb at the psychologists convention.

Hoy,
Origin is not for everyone. Sometimes even good players get their ambitions mixed up with their capabilities.
