You were closest to the pin. First two sets were great entertainment (and that second set tiebreak nearly rivaled McEnroe/Borg) but I think you nailed it, Fed couldn’t stay with him. Novak’s serve was outstanding.

Thanks for the great preview. It’s all set to be a classic, but it looks to me as if Federer is “dancing” again on the grass (as Ivan Ljubicic put it earlier this week). I’m going to stick with my January prediction of Roger taking the title – in four sets.

Have to agree, Mark, now Tomic is out Kokkinakis looks like the man for a singles berth. His experience with Lleyton at Wimbledon will stand him in good stead for either flavour. Yep, Guccione will probably be called up for the doubles alongside Hewitt, his recent win in Nottingham (with Andre Sa) was impressive. Groth has been playing good doubles lately as well though and both have teamed up with Lleyton in the past. Guccione has more experience with him clearly.
Do, or do not: Hewitt and Kokkinakis use the force at Wimbledon
Agree this match will be low-scoring and high possession. Not as gung ho about a West Coast victory as some on here – could even see Carlton sneaking home. They’ve played well in Perth in the last few years. On an individual level, I’m hoping Casboult can hold on to a few. He’s got the best hands in the business when he gets a bit of mid-match confidence up. Either way, it should make for an entertaining affair despite it probably being between a couple of 2015 also-rans.

Agreed. It was always going to be difficult for Cilic to maintain and despite hovering in the top ten has not had a strong year. I can’t see anyone popping up to challenge Novak, Roger and Andy this year in New York but stranger things have happened.
