Brisbane finished much lower than Carlton from 2010-2014.
They had been building their list up.
In 2015 Carlton decided on a rebuild (like Brisbane has already been doing for a couple of years).
Anyway it’s not relevant. Plan was 5 years. 5 years is up. Players in their prime are choosing Carlton and I agree it’s time to deliver.

Saad would only go to a Melbourne club Dougie. I don’t think others would even try.
Can’t see him going to North given where they are at. Back to Essendon? That would be pretty tough now given they have fed journos a character assassination as he is going out the door.
Hawks might try it but they would need to convince Saad. I think Hawks more likely to go to the draft.

You brought up Papley. I genuinely hadn’t even thought of him. I was responding to your assessment of what you will receive for Daniher. I was wondering if, as an Essendon supporter, you were happy with last years decision. You answered that question.

I think everyone outside Essendon could see they should have taken the Daniher trade last year. Not really hindsight just pig-headedness. His attitude this year has just vindicated that he did not want to be there.
My view is your recruiting has not worked and you need a change.

We wouldn’t have recruited Betts. Betts appears to have been instrumental in recruiting Martin and Williams. Much better outcome.

Feels like where Carlton were 6-7 years ago when Waite, Betts, etc all left because they weren’t feeling the love.
If (and it hasn’t happened yet) there is an exodus, then I think Bombers need to close the door on this group and rebuild.
Also agree a change in key personnel off field is required (not Rutten given he has just been appointed).
If I were a bombers fan I’d be worried by the Sheedy appointment it feels desperate.

I’m sure all those players are not on the same annual pay packet
Williams to leave Giants
But they are still on AFL lists (in the main). They were still able to use the currency from the trades of those players who wanted to go home to improve their list (now they have three right people running the club and the football department).
