devils advocate here… for all of those experts wanting super rugby to stand alone, apart from international rugby, shouldnt this column be an anathema? or does this really prove the point that ANY club rugby comp take second place to international rugby? ? Im NOT denigrating super rugby, as I think it has always been the best CLUB rugby comp on the planet, BUT, it will ALWAYS be superceeded by international rugby.

Australia's SRP sides may have fallen at trans-Tasman hurdle - but three signs point to a closing gap

thats the american skill, and with a vast population of easily satisfied spectators who are happy to sit and eat for three hours ,with short(very) bursts of footy in between ad breaks. of all the football variations, its the most boring . but,it works for them.

Five things: The Reds have flipped the script - and it promises to be rewarded at the Wallabies selection table

and yet, the biggest ,most successful of them all (nfl) is quite short.

top comment waterboy.

COMMENT: It's a disgrace rugby is heading to Qatar - but that's not because of sportswashing

its a lazy generalisation from anybody who is angry/confused/ left behind by the modern world. also known as the trump syndrome.

how does the u.k. have a team? thats four countries. maybe fiji ,samoa and tonga should put in a P.I. team?

Aussie women's team lose Singapore Sevens final to NZ, sweat on star's fitness ahead of Olympics

good column. I wonder if the tv in nz and aus are aware of the 11 team deal? I cant imagine that any tv channel wants LESS content . it all seems to be yet another attempt by R.A. to shoot itself in the foot . or is it a cunning plan? whereby the super license is taken from the melbourne rebels, and given/sold to a new consortium, maybe called the victorian bushrangers??
Luckily , rugby is the winner, with games in fiji and now tonga. league, where the bloody hejj are ya? still stuck in traffic on parramatta rd?

The Wrap: Rugby Australia gaslights Rebels staff and why ‘I Can’t Go For That’

the blues, chiefs, hurricanes ,crusaders and highlanders didnt exist pre 1994.tradition is like loyalty, a soundbite that can be made-up. as for crowds ,you must remember that aus biggest rugby crowds are at mcg….

Chiefs all but extinguish Force’s finals hopes in record Tron trouncing, injury concerns for Dmac

yes, cowbells should be banned for chiefs games, only allowed for the mooloos games. 😛

Chiefs all but extinguish Force’s finals hopes in record Tron trouncing, injury concerns for Dmac

the broadcasting deal and the lack of content with one less team seems to have been deliberatley overlooked by everybody wanting the rebels gone. this SHOULD be front and center in R.A. thoughts and intentions.

Rebels' Super future hanging on creditors' Friday vote as Rugby Australia set to go against plan

play for the roosters, see sydney, play for the wallabies, see the world.

Super Rugby shows that the Bledisloe Cup isn't going anywhere - one selection could give the Wallabies hope

“who’s playing league now from new zealand” about 20% (110/ 550) nrl players are kiwis. dont know what makes yr question interesting in this column.

Super Rugby shows that the Bledisloe Cup isn't going anywhere - one selection could give the Wallabies hope

yes, the blues are proving a better team without christie.

and there players are constantly critisizing how many games they have to play, and the clubs are having to have huge numbers of players on there books to cover all these games.

The Wrap: Rebels young gun rockets out of Wallabies contention, and why Samipeni Finau's 'brutal' hit on Edmed was fair game

get fiji and japan into the rugby championship asap.

Rugby Australia announce $9.2m deficit, board member fails to be re-elected but coup falls over

forget what league does. they dont have a proper international calendar, and they dont tour europe every year for a month.

The Wrap: Rebels young gun rockets out of Wallabies contention, and why Samipeni Finau's 'brutal' hit on Edmed was fair game

good column, with plenty to digest for breakfast. pretty much everybody should be happy with this yrs super rugby comp. its very unpredictable, which is what every comp should aim for. there has been no whingeing about players stood down, and even the refs havent been blamed (mostly) for results. Rugby aus has got itself between a rock(vic gov) and a hard place(tax office), and I cant see an easy out. and thats not thinking about tv and what one less team does for content. hmmm.

The Wrap: Rebels young gun rockets out of Wallabies contention, and why Samipeni Finau's 'brutal' hit on Edmed was fair game

Id say that most kiwis have the rebels as their favourite aus team. maybe its all kiwis fault(default setting). 😛

UPDATE: RA say they were blindsided over Rebels' finances, reject private consortium claim as administrator backs club's survival

yes,a malleable population is very open to suggestion. thats why new sports? such as mma and e-sports have taken off, and are also likely to shrink just as quickly.and as kingplaymaker has correctly said, many fans are only fans because their workmates and friends are fans.its another form of peer pressure. wanting to fit in ,etc. when in rome etc. you see it in bars and clubs, follow the crowds, even if its over a cliff …… it reminds me off a favourite line from life of brian. “repeat after me, we are all individuals”!”Im not”..

Five surprises, five disappointments and five things to figure out as Super Rugby 2024 reaches the end game

if his manager is throwing out multiple different sports and scenarios that petaia is thinking of, what IS the “right” thing for rugby aus to do? he doesnt sound overly committed to anything.

'It's disappointing': Petaia's Super season over - and it could end his Reds career

fun fact. financiers and bankers have never run anything well for more that one balance sheet, not even banks or finance houses. they dont have the ability or training to look long term.

'Definition of madness': Rugby reform must start with total cleanout of RA board - and this should happen next

everybody shows remorse when they are caught.its a bullsh*t claim. nobody ever stood up(unless they were a fool without a lawyer) and said, “yeah, Im glad I did it”. I often wonder if legal claims of remorse come from the catholic idea of confessing yr sins and getting another turn next week. As in , this is yr last, last ,definitley last (maybe) chance,(unless you show remorse and go to tackle school, you hardened pro with 15yrs of pro rugby).
