The All Blacks are the only team with a 100% losing record at this world cup.

Played against Canada. A pretty useful tight five.

Kiwi View: All Blacks fans finally tuning in to RWC threats - should they pay more attention to a dark horse in blue?

Highlander, Scotland is playing great rugby. There’s a chance that Ireland might struggle to advance from their group. Romania’s recent results have been less than impressive, but if Ireland or Scotland underestimate Tonga, they could face difficulties. Will both Ireland and Scotland deploy their strongest lineup in four out of the five pool matches? Moreover, does emerging from this group provide a competitive advantage in the Quarterfinals, or does it potentially lead to exhaustion?

Romania

The pool is too easy, this has been the ABs undoing in the past.

Yes, always get the first round. As time passes the rounds get bigger due to late arrivals and when someone asks “whose round is it?” you can always reply with “I got the first”.

Kiwi View: This All Black team can win the World Cup but is it better than 2019?

True, the English props had a field day upfront. The ABS had zero plans that day.

Just my opinion, S Reece and G Bridge must be the worst wing combo ever fielded by the ABs.

Kiwi View: This All Black team can win the World Cup but is it better than 2019?

This team possesses an edge compared to the majority of past AB World Cup squads; it refrains from overestimating itself, and perhaps it’s even equipped with an alternative strategy (plan B). Moreover, they are making strides in their performance, though it’s true that this isn’t saying much given their previous lackluster performances. It’s worth acknowledging that teams better than this one have participated in the World Cup only to come back without any trophies. One negative, which has always hindered the ABs in the past, is that the pool may be too weak. (Ireland’s pool may be too strong)

Todd is this a wind-up? Havili and JB are totally different players, Havili lacks the physical strength to cart the ball up when required. I would even go as far as saying it was wrong of Foster to assign that role to Havili, he just isn’t built for it, 95kg does not fit the position.

There is a whiff of myth about this Springboks side - and they were badly exposed by All Blacks' coaching team

True, he did play well in Japan. Braydon Ennor must be looking over his shoulder.

Let’s hope Jacobson and Blackadder are up and running soon. ALB and Goodhue are the logical replacements, just don’t think they will bring the same punch as Barrett.
ABs could definitely have their own Bomb Squad if all the players returned from injury.
I would like to see Blackadder at 7, he could cause damage.

Great article Highlander.

Who replaces Frizell and Jordie B if they are injured?

Too funny, me too, I was going to be nasty but held back.

A bit quick on the trigger their West.
I think the Boks may run at the AB forwards at the start of the game just to see if it works. If it fails back to the box kick.

Great article Harry, when was a kicker, not the first player picked in a Bok team?
This game is going to reveal so much about the Boks and ABs. Dominant tackling could be the winning or losing of the game. If the ABs can’t stop the Boks forwards in their tracks, they are in for a long day. Likewise, the Boks have to stop the ABs backline from getting over the gain line.
I think I need a few drinks to calm my nerves.

The Ireland versus Tonga match has the potential to pose a significant challenge for Ireland. When players enter a game with the sole intention of avoiding injuries, an ironic twist often occurs—they become more susceptible to getting injured themselves.
Pool B is what a World Cup pool should look like.

Is 2023 the year Ireland break the chokehold and become World Cup champions?

Actually thanks for the article, I do like these pick the ABs articles. With the rise of Narawa and Stevenson, both of whom have good boots, the AB backline is beginning to look potent again. Additionally, the return of ALB and Goodhue, means there is no need to manufacture Midfielders.

Is this the All Blacks squad that will bring home the Rugby World Cup?

Pilferer, good question. Do Allende and Bundee Aki kick?

Is this the All Blacks squad that will bring home the Rugby World Cup?

KiwiHaydn team has a great dynamic, especially when the young guns start the game and the experienced players come off the bench. This allows for cool heads during crucial moments in tight matches.
While David Havili is a versatile player, competent in multiple areas, he lacks mastery in any specific aspect. On the other hand, Thomas Umaga-Jensen showcased his skills against the Chiefs on Friday, despite being closely marked. He consistently gained yards, distributed the ball effectively, and displayed excellent rugby intelligence. Umaga-Jensen’s ability to draw in defenders and his decision-making would likely create more problems for opposing defenses compared to Havili. Standing out in a defeated team is more impressive than being part of a well-oiled machine.
Moreover, considering Mounga/DMac as the playmakers, having a larger and physical presence outside them is crucial. It is worth noting that Havili was moved to the midfield because he lacked the necessary speed to play as a fullback.

Additionally, Levi Aumua stands out as another potential weapon.

Japanese clubs probably wouldn’t be interested in Rugby League players, as they don’t bring years of experience with them, when they buy a Super rugby player they are also buying years of rugby knowledge which can be passed onto local players. Craig Wing was an exemption, as he counted as being Asian, each team is allowed an Asian player, often Korean, who does not count as a foreigner.
France, recruits players in their teens, mostly from the Pacific, so by the time they are in their 20s they can speak French and qualify for France.
I don’t know the exact figures but NRL players seem to be paid as much as rugby players around the World. The NRL shouldn’t be worried.
