Sad to see the bloke fall so far off the pace as a full back. There are a number of young guns out there that would round him up. I noticed he has another two (2) years on his current contract. I cannot see how he would get through that period on his current form and wonder if retirement is also playing on his mind.

The Roar’s NRL expert tips and predictions: Round 7

As for Gus I’m not a fan of his media appearances or snide remarks about certain clubs / retention / rule changes etc – he comes across as if he thinks he is the godfather of rugby league.
However, Penrith were blessed to get Gus when they did. In terms of structure for player development, facilities and the level of marketing for the NRL in the western region he did an excellent job. I think part ways of him leaving is to pull back the financial deficit that has recently come to light in the club.

Phil Gould reportedly set for Panthers exit in the coming days

Its ANZAC day – toss the coin and see if a dragons head comes up.
The halves for Saints are clicking nicely and Dufty has enough speed to cover the back end of the park on the kicking game of Cronk. The biggest concern is Latrell Mitchel is on fire but bringing him back in the halves leaves an unknown factor for the game. Blake Lawrie will be primed for this one.

I generally find that club supporters (who are relatively intelligent) have a better insight to the issues than outsiders like me…

Eight talking points from NRL Round 6

Apparently so, he is under the same cloud. . .

Eight talking points from NRL Round 6

mate, you can speculate all you want and gloss up the mathematics. . . The table doesn’t lie. Read some of the other comments from Broncs fans who rightly point out where the shortfalls are in the team – correct those and you start to win. Leave it as is and it might be a miserable year. Saints are short on skill sets unlike your broncs but they make up for it with an experienced forward pack and Ben Hunt steering the play.

Eight talking points from NRL Round 6

Ravalava needs to take a seat, Zac Lomax needs to get his game on and impress the coach (if he starts him!)
Saints upped the anti in that 2nd half and the come back in effort was worth a win albeit a controversial one.
The biggest concern i have for the Roosters match is the gas that Saints used in the game on Sunday against Manly…. lets see.

Eight talking points from NRL Round 6

Siebold either has the best poker face or nerves of steel. My young bloke is a Broncs fan and even after that game he said teams aren’t scared of the Broncos atm.
The young forward pack need a real leader and that either comes with age or you purchase a old head prop / lock that can keep the team going forward.

Eight talking points from NRL Round 6

Happy to read it and here’s why.
Coaching NRL teams has so many variables.
Players. Performance staff. Injuries. Recruitment. Scandals. Contract issues and salary caps.
The coach (Mary) has had enormous pressure to build a team with the above mentioned and also learn the trade. Hes made mistakes.. we all do. How ever if you’ve ever been in any team where there is an underlying uncertainty about who’s coaching next week.. next season etc I can tell you that all it does is breed contempt. I’m glad hes on board. We have 15 other teams to beat this year some of them twice and we only have 3 so far…
GOOD LUCK MARY.

Dragons re-sign coach McGregor until 2021

The Broncs are low on confidence, if they win two on the trot they will win five straight. Seaballs is an intelligent coach who just needs to manipulate the Rubiks cube a few more times…

The 2019 Brisbane Broncos are struggling and it won't get any better

I think if Lafai keeps form he will be the kicker…

No Widdop, no worries - Norman will win the comp for the Dragons

I applied for the position as head of the brains trust at STGi under the name of “Pedro the saint”. They accepted me immediately, asking if i could bring a miracle along as per my title. . . but like you say “honorary titles are not always the best indicators of true genius”.

Musical chairs will cost the Dragons a finals spot

That could easily work but we would probably burn 3 games to get it right….Its a better combo than we have atm.

Musical chairs will cost the Dragons a finals spot

just check your title mate.. (same as mine) “Rookie”!!

Musical chairs will cost the Dragons a finals spot

The problem is the changes will happen around the 7 – 8th round after 6 losses. Mary will come to his senses and move Widdy into 5/8, Norman to the bench and Dufty to FB. By that time the season will be over in terms of + / – points.
I agree we need the forwards back – but Vaughn has been under performing this year.

Musical chairs will cost the Dragons a finals spot

Didn’t do saints any favours loosing Widdop – I don’t mind the predictions they at least make you think about the in / out possibilities of the top 8. I would like to see some dark horses come up though, Tigs / Titans / Knights…
I think Saints will have a late season charge as the dynamics have been played with to much for mine. Mary will revert to the Hunt Widdop McGinnes combo and Norman will go to 1.

Five fearless predictions for the 2019 NRL season

nice to see a well balanced debate raging on about balance between civil rights and the NRL ruling to have a no fault stand down policy on NRL players charged with serious offences.
Take away the emotional factors (all of them) and you end up a massive legal wrangle that doesn’t have a time frame for a resolution.

Everyone is entitled to their personal thoughts on how it should be handled – but one thing for sure is JDB will be for ever known as the spanner that fell into the works. This generally means it destroys or breaks the mechanism he is involved with.

In truthfulness, something had to give. The world is becoming a dark place for all of its advancements in technology, social media and lack of moral respect towards each other seems to be evolving.

Opinion – The NRL are incompetent in terms of the delivery of their stance against criminal player charges but…. they are not responsible for the excessive amount of player misdemeanors in the off season.
Opinion – JDB will mount every possible legal challenge on any ruling that infers misconduct or be seen to bring the game into disrepute – why, because that would be the legal advise given too him that distances himself from any guilty verdict with his current charge.
Last but not least – Dear JDB, Have a good long look in the mirror mate . . . because atm you are lower than shark shite with your moral compass.

Kent slams NRL's radical finals shake-up

well written BD – The NRL is always late to the party. The changes should have been implemented years ago but sometimes I feel they (the NRL) are like a moth to the flame and love the drama. All of the recent drama unfortunately is in one bucket concerning women being the victims. I do hope this rings the bell for the players to grow up and limit the circumstances they put themselves in.

Jack de Belin stood down as new policy confirmed for NRL players charged with serious crimes

“In the interest of player welfare and ….it should read (+the clubs / Nrl’s reputation) Jack will not travel with the squad to Mudgee or participate in the Charity Shield,”
Jack should aim up and take himself out of the picture rather than be removed.

Dragons leave De Belin out of trial squad

And then the fun police came…

Australian national anthem doesn't 'represent myself and my family': Cody Walker

I flew in to dear old Dubbo – it got hot, fast. Went to Melbourne, it got hot a week later, went back to Dubbo and nearly died from a dust storm. Stayed in Sydney for another week – went back to work. See you in September Rabbits v Dragons.

Predicting the 2019 NRL premiers before a ball is kicked

im ok to change the anthem so it can be sung in any environment but maybe it should reflect all cultures…

Handy pickup for the cowz. Gives the team some stability with his age and experience in the back end of the field which is what they needed.
