The plebiscite vote of 62% to 38% is a clear result, but hardly “overwhelming”. The point being that more than a third of those that voted thought differently.

In one sense, the concern about independence is understandable. It’s a bit superficial though. I look at the four people investigating and the Terms of Reference and conclude that the likelihood that they’d be party to a rigging it is vanishingly small.
'Silencing tactics': Woman at centre of Hawthorn scandal says AFL racism inquiry 'unsafe'
I think you’ve pretty much nailed it:
1. The AFL’s record on investigations is shameful, but leaking to the media should still be the last resort, ie when you are left with no option other than to expose a dead set cover up.
2. The assumption seems to be that just because one person didn’t test my allegations, no one else should be able to. How many black folks in America have wound up on death row because no one was prepared to question the white guys’ evidence?
3. The wise will wait before rushing to judgement.

It involves employment law therefore it is indeed a legal case that is subject to the rules of natural justice and procedural fairness.
Why reinstating Clarkson and Fagan is the right decision
The AFL’s track record on internal investigations is atrocious of course, but I have a feeling that it knows it can’t afford to stuff this one up.
The AFL also has WorkSafe Victoria breathing down its neck – WSV started an investigation a month ago.
The complainants also have the option of going to the Human Rights Commission.
Why reinstating Clarkson and Fagan is the right decision
You are correct to say that people subject to a workplace investigation are often (but not always) stood down. You are incorrect about the presumption of innocence, which is encompassed in the rules of natural justice and procedural fairness.
Here’s a useful article:

Unless you have “pre loaded” as the young people say you would need to be an evil genius to get squiffy at the cricket.

Tama: I’ve been a long term follower of netball because my daughters played. It all started to go downhill when Netball was commercialised under the Marina Go regime. The results are showing on the scoreboard.

Most of us would agree that players should be free to express their opinions. the problem is that we don’t agree on what opinions are acceptable. In the meantime players campaign for a transfer of wealth from the fans to them.

I said to the boss when it looked pretty grim that (i) it can change pretty quickly; (ii) there’s hope if Kohli is there at the end, and (iii) Pakistan is prone to brain fades under pressure.

Rowdy, all team selections now need to go through Paddy’s office (located in the Tiberius Suites in Macquarie Street) for sign off. I also understand he sought an assurance from CA that he be provided advance copies of all commentators’ ball by ball calls for his review.

XI: the problem with young Pat’s stance is that Alinta is gas and gas is key to the transition to net zero. I wonder how he feels about CA’s other sponsors: Bet365, Commonwealth Bank (money laundering), KFC (unhealthy), Qantas (aviation fuel emissions), and Toyota (gas guzzlers)?

DS: this has been mismanaged badly by the Board, the administration and the players. No one seems to be able to explain exactly what it’s about. Folks against Hancock on climate/environmental grounds haven’t twigged that miners find and produce the raw materials that renewables are made from.

That’s a good question actually. One theory doing the rounds is that it’s a campaign from the current HFC footy department leadership to kneecap Clarkson and his legacy. Let’s not forget that Nick Holland fired a shot across Clarkson’s bows reminding him of his continuing contractual obligations.

Indeed Doc. It’s over-hyped at the moment.
I have enjoyed having an Essendon side in the comp and watching them win a few, but the skills are disappointing. I don’t question their courage and endeavour or the fun they’re having.
If and when there are 10 like Monique Conti on every list it would be different. I’ve got a feeling though that she is a rare talent.
Bad faith AFLW takes are stupid and miss the point entirely
I understand what you’re saying.
