This is a much more balanced article.

Pat Cummins was a tremendous choice as captain.

We are left wondering whether it’s a return to the bad old days of what the players want, the players got? People are actually divided.

It’s all very well to point out Warne’s conflicts with Buchanan, but Warne was a freak that defied conventional analysis.

'JL hurt by the back stabbing': How will fans treat Cummins now after uncivil war between old and new guards?

You are a bit behind the news: Jason Gillespie has already announced that he isn’t interested in the job. Nor did he sound too happy about how the thing was handled.

I’ve made my point. It’s to do with culture.

You don’t need to be able to add, subtract, multiply or divide to know what Cummins meant by the “sanctity of the change room”.

By my count 8 of the 11 of that benighted team are still in circulation:

1. Warner
2. Khawaja
3. Smith
4. M Marsh
5. Cummins
6. Starc
7. Lyon
8 Hazelwood

It is an alternative way of putting the author’s statement that Pat Cummins “…delivered a perfect coup de grace to the Langer era…”.

My point is that virtually no one questioned Pat Cummins’ elevation to the captaincy. I certainly didn’t. There is now a significant number of people wondering about what’s really going on.

Pat Cummins has not won the war.

He has certainly got the scalp that he and his mates wanted, but he has been forced to admit that the players were behind it.

Careful observers will be watching to see what corporate baby talk like “collaborative leadership” means in practice. Let’s not forget that this side is substantially the same as in Cape Town in 2018. Also, even though Cummins is an excellent bowler, he has no more that 38 Tests under his belt.

The process was terrible, including Cummins earlier remarks about it being CA’s decision, which was meant to imply that it was not orchestrated by the players.

I have no problem with the players having a voice. But…

I suspect that the NZ tour was called off because the players said no more quarantine. I wouldn’t mind having a little bet that the Pakistan tour goes the same way.

'Sticking up for my mates': Cummins explains why he wanted JL gone in brutally honest statement

It is time to face facts: the players wanted JL out and CA gave them what they wanted.

Let me translate “collaborative leadership” for those that might be a bit unsure about what it means: the players can go back to doing as they please like they did at Cape Town.

Pat Cummins was quite right to say that he he did:

“That’s Cricket Australia’s job, it’s not my job,” he said. “There’s been a process, I’ve been part of that, a lot of other players have been part of that. It’s just like when we get evaluated. “I’ve got huge respect for JL, I’ve really liked working with him, but it’s not my call.”

If, on the other hand, Cummins’ and the “other players” feedback was a thumbs down there are major problems.

It will be a problem if his public stance (fantastic job, huge respect, etc) turns out to be the opposite of his private stance.

It’s possible that Cummins’ said something along the lines that while he thought JL was great, key players didn’t and that he’d prefer to captain a united unit.

If it was a player-led decision it starts to look awfully like a return to the sort of boofhead-led culture that enabled the shameful cheating at Cape Town.

NB: I expect that the hysterical old guard have their own sources of information even though they are careful to say they haven’t!

'Pathetic,' and 'absolute disgrace', 'painted like a monster': Warne, Gilly rip into CA over Langer exit

I am baffled as to why you imagine it’s a loophole. It’s how the France has framed the entry rules, as is evident below:

The real question is when he recovered from COVID and whether that fits in the 6 month window, given the FO starts on 22 May.

“A digital or paper version of one of the following may be provided as a vaccination pass:
• A vaccine certificate showing full vaccination,
• A certificate of recovery from COVID (from 11 days to 6 months prior),
• A certificate of medical reasons for not being vaccinated.”

Big Bash Bore? Why Cricket Australia needs to listen to the players and cut the season

I take great pleasure in watching elite women play sport, but I draw the line at AFLW.

The skills in golf, cricket and soccer have come on in leaps and bounds. No doubt advances in equipment have helped the golfers and cricketers.

The talent pool is too shallow for AFLW to ever be a spectacle worth watching and I can’t see any equipment changes making a difference.

I think you are right, broadly. My only quibble is that “the Feds” in question are the every day ABF people on the frontline who give a traveller’s documentation a quick once over. Clearly a few AO types had already got through with the magic words “medical exemption” on them. ND’s instagram post raised a red flag for someone and I’m prepared to bet it was a public servant and not a Minister.

Djokovic deserved to play the Australian Open

It’s possible that ND is putting the frighteners onto TA.

Winston: if you read Hawke’s reasons carefully you’ll find that he (Hawke) did not concede what you say he did but made a series of assumptions.

There will be many people thinking that Hawke said that ND’s medical exemption was valid. That is not right – Hawke merely said that he was wasn’t going to dig into it because it wasn’t relevant for the purposes of his decision.

The conclusion should be, I think, that the Commonwealth policy has always been based on broad public health policy rather than whether a covid infection is a protection.

If you google “federal court djokovic” you’ll find a link to all the Federal Court documents, the latest being Kelly’s order last night. Moving it away from the Federal Circuit Court means that Kelly J has been given the heave ho.

DECISION: Immigration Minister Alex Hawke cancels Novak Djokovic's visa, Serb begins legal challenge

The Djoker legal team is after a quick hearing.

I’m willing to bet that the Commonwealth will insist on witnesses such as Craig Tiley. the TA Chief Medical Officer, the TA expert panel, the Vic expert panel, etc to attest to what they were told by the Commonwealth and the timing.

All that – if it happens – will slow things down.

DECISION: Immigration Minister Alex Hawke cancels Novak Djokovic's visa, Serb begins legal challenge

Djoker’s lawyers would need to convince the judge that the TA did follow ATAGI guidelines.

The problem with that is the Commonwealth gave TA unambiguous advice about what the guidelines meant on 18 an9 November.

TA never tried to sort it out. They were obliged to in my opinion.

I think what Kelly was saying was about the appeals process. He did seem to think an exemption was an exemption though.
