Sorry ABs fans, but i have to say, this game is reminding me of the 2007 RWC game between England and the Wallabies. the Wallabies thought they had it won, but the poms wanted it more. this looks very similar….

Interesting article Spiro. I like you do not like White rugby. But the one thing you didn’t mention was the weather. It rained on and off most of the afternoon and it was drizzling during the game. This would have played into the minds of the coaches to send them back to safety first rugby.

And while I agree with you about the fact White’s rugby is still entrenched in the Brumbies, there are also sings of Larkham’s influence as well. You only need to look at the Blues game a couple of weeks ago. The Brumbies kicked well but they also ran the ball back.

I just don’t think many teams would have played any differently than the Sharks and the Brumbies on Saturday night. The weather just didn’t permit.

Well that is full time here! The Canes looked strong tonight. The Rebels looked good in patches but need to work on their finishing.

The Rebels scrum has looked good tonight and continues that. They get a penalty for the scrum. and tap and go. Inman ahead to Higgers to Woodward. 22m out now. Neville again. into the 22m. Higgers 10m out. They keep it going. Wide to Woodward who goes to Hegarty and Ohh a forward pass.

Lineout taken and J Savea takes it up. Now they go to Allen, and get to the halfway. The Canes are keeping it close to the ruck. and the Rebels get a knock on turn over and the scrum.

Jones trucks it up again. now 5m out. But a penalty to the Canes. Not releasing. The Canes clear to the 40m line.

The Rebels have a scrum 5m out. Big scrum, the Rebels go to English, now Jones again. still 5m out. Now 2m out. Wide to Woodward who is smashed by J Savea.

Still 5m out Higgers, to Burgess over the line but held up. No real enthusiasm from the Rebels so 5m scrum Rebels.

The Rebels keep it in hand, but the Canes defence looks good. Slow ball for the Rebels and they get a scrum feed.

Rebels now go to Burgess who goes ahead. They now get a penalty. surely they need to go to touch. and they do. Hegarty kicks to just inside the 22m. line. Gee Weeks has looked good.

The Rebels take it through Jones and now drive on with a penalty coming. and now they get it. Time off and the ref has a word to the Canes. I still reckon this is where the attacking team needs to keep going on and the Rebels do.

So 5m out, Rebels lineout. Quick to Sau, and again they go 1m out! Jones driving, And they get the penalty! And now a yellow card to of all people Conrad Smith.

Rebels take it again but Fainga throws a loose pass but the come back for another penalty. Gee Neville has looked good. and Higginbotham goes for the points.

Woodward lines up and misses it, i reckon they should have gone for touch.

Well the Canes are looking dangerous and now Matu’u is on the field! Watch out Rebels he is a tackling machine!

Rebels with the scrum 5m out and now they get a penalty! Goodness Gracious the first of this half! They get a chance to get out of their half but only go to 40m out.

Short lineout they go to Neville to Ellison, but going nowhere and Ellison clears but Taylor dummies and goes into the 22m Barrett kicks to Jane who takes it, the pops it to Smith and TRY!

And Barrett adds the extras!

Gee the crowd are not happy with the ref here. and the Canes clear and the Rebels run it back. a bit sloppy but the Rebels still have it.and now a turnover to the Canes through A Savea. and Barrett doesn’t find touch and Higginbotham clears. But the Canes have a lineout 22m out. and boy o boy the crowd are not happy with the adjudication that is going on!

The Canes go wide and another penalty to the Canes. Now the Rebels are being warned. Gee the last one was unlucky as the Canes now go for the line. They are 5m out.

The canes go from the top and now centre field. Now to Barrett, to Broadhurst, to Leiua. still 5m out. have to score but oh no, Smith knocks it on!

The Canes get a penalty from the lineout and the Canes go for sticks again. And Barrett misses again.

The Rebels think about some trickery but end up going deep and Vito trucks it up. and Coles into a gap, wide to Taylor, they go into the Rebels 22m Lam is nearly turned over and the Canes get a penalty! Once again they Canes go for the sticks and it is over!

The Canes get a short arm and go on quickly through Smith. and get a penalty advantage. Now the penalty comes. I think the Canes are a bit frustrated at the lack of advantage played by the ref.

Barrett lines up and hits the post! Inman cleans up and Woodward clears.

The Rebels go short this time and Thrush takes it again, but Perenara goes to the air and J Savea takes Hegarty who knocks it on. 1st scrum to the Canes. And they clear it and J Savea goes ahead but Ellison rips it out and forces a turnover.

The Canes take it and drive on through Thrush. It goes to Barrett and looks to J Savea who makes the tackle. But the Rebels have it and look to keep it in hand and The Canes turn it over and get the first chance at points.

Barrett lines up and nails it! GOAL!

40’ Live Score: Rebels 10 – Hurricanes 12

The Rebels Clear through Woodward after a little bit of sloppy work. The Canes have a lineout on the 40m line. The take it but Jones puts a hit on and a turnover and now they go ahead through Fainga’a and the Rebels go into the Canes half. Hegarty kicks ahead with a nothing kick and the Cans break through Jane who kicks ahead and now Hegarty goes ahead.

But the Rebels put a kick in and Sa’u gets smashed by J Savea. Penalty Rebels. They opt for a shot from 55m out!

Woodward lines up and is well short, the Canes go to touch and that is HALFTIME!

The Canes take the kick off and keep it in hand, now Barrett kicks for Jane who takes it, and the Canes go wide to Smith who kicks ahead for J Savea and the ball goes into touch.

The Rebels lineout is stolen but is knocked on by the Canes.

The Rebels clear to the 40m line off the kick off and the Canes go ahead through Goodes. 30m out now but Coles drops it cold. Scrum to the Rebels.

The Rebels take it through Burgess to Hegarty and Ellison gets a good grubber away. To give the Canes a lineout on the halfway line.

The Canes take it and go through Coles now wide to Smith and J Savae and Broadhurst to Goodes who makes lots of metres. they go to Barrett and Jane now J Savea into the 22m and 5m out great try saving tackle from Woodward.. They get an advantage for offside. The Canes opt for the points and it is converted by Barrett as the Canes take the lead again.

Scrum collapses again. Solid scrum HIgginbothom takes it and now the penalty to the Rebels to give them a chance to clear it.

Rebels sloppy in the lineout and Burgess hacks it down field. and after a kick form the Canes, the Rebels break after a great ball form Hegarty to Woodward, who chips ahead and Hegarty gets the bounce and a TRY under the posts and the Rebels hit the lead!

Canes kick off and Burgess clears long to Taylor. Barrett now goes high and Jane takes it, but the Rebels through Leafa get the turnover, but the Canes get feed.

The Canes go ahead and Perenara knocks it on and the Rebels get the scrum feed. Barrett made some good ground, he is looking sharp tonight.
