I’ve said this multiple times. You’re not going to fix Super Rugby by cutting the Australian teams down to 3. You imagine those players taking off their Force and Rebels jerseys and putting on Tah, Brumby or Red jerseys. They won’t. Not for long anyway. They’ll simply go to Japan or France (both have multiple professional divisions). Then the rugby market in Australia will shrink to match the available talent and we’ll be left with similar standards as today but with 3 teams instead of 5.

Australian rugby is literally not up to international standard right now – mostly in the *COACHING* and *ADMINISTRATION* parts of the game. Knocking the comp down to 3 teams isn’t going to do anything.

'How much does Australian rugby want to learn from the world?': Why you've got to stay tuned into World Cup

Wouldn’t that just eliminate the numbers 1 and 10 – meaning they would be completely unattainable – and then we could just score from 2 to 9?

Wallabies DIY player ratings from win over Portugal: Bobby V, big boppa lead the way, but playmaker problem remains

These scores seem extraordinarily high. The Wallaby scrum got dominated for a time by Portugal. Portugal. Our lineout missfired again as soon as Frost went off. Discipline was awful the entire match. We spent large amounts of time having to defend our line from Portugal. Portugal.

I love them too, but we should be flogging them by 40 points with the resources we have.

That’s the case with literally all teams all of the time.

'Fall guy': Eddie doubles down on future, makes three changes as Wallabies sweat on RWC miracle

While I understand what you’re saying, I can’t bring myself to raise any of the scores. Normally, I can find a player or two who did well all night. But not this time. Can you? Who’s score would you raise?

Yes, but not of genius.

Exclusive: Eddie set for midfield switch as Wallabies sweat on miracle World Cup finish and CEO pops in

That actually goes back to the 2003 RWC. Have a watch of the final between Aus and Eng. We dropped every single scrum. The rules were changed after the event to prevent exactly that approach. Eddie (and the rest of Australia) did not adjust.

Yep. I feel that. Everyone does. These are the worst sporting administrators in any sport anywhere in the world. I’ve also come to the belief that Qantas and the wallabies should re-establish their links. Not because they’ll be any good, but because they are so perfect for each other. Both are Australian household brands that have been trashed over the last couple of decades. I also say “brands” because that’s all they are any more. Qantas used to have a whole lot of in-house experience and expertise. Now it’s all out sourced. They just want to hire units of labour or equipment and stick their label on it and call it theirs. But it’s not. Same with RA. They’ve completely sold off, or just neglected their assets. They would like to get NZ, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga or the NRL to do their development for them so they can just buy the results (badly).

There is some hope. I would group rugby haters into three main classes:

1. Those that just hate the sport. Not much you can do if someone just doesn’t like something. Same with soccer, chess or Magic the Gathering.

2. Those that hate the administration. They hate the elitism, sexism, incompetence, politicking or the fiefdoms. These are addressable. Not easily, but it’s possible. Basically, we’d need a clean out of RA.

3. Those that have lost faith. Former rugby fans who have been dudded, disrespected, neglected and disappointed so many times over that they’ve had enough. These people actually WANT to come back, but can’t because they’re furious. If things improved – mostly the effort, professionalism and competence – and people thought they could take this team seriously they would (maybe slowly) return.

It’s going to take something big. BIL and RWC27 are coming, so there’s motivation.

This is the brutal reality: There are Aussies desperate to see Wallabies fail, and many want to see the sport's complete demise

If only that were Joe…

Eddie Jones should be celebrated not booed: Why the worst thing RA could do is sack the Wallabies coach

I would like to comment, but I believe a particular tennis player said it best. Take it away, Mr McEnroe…

As opposed to the youth side that was trundled out?

LOL no. Laurie (or anyone else) could dance naked in the street, with a seal in a tiara as their partner and all of the attention would still be on Eddie. In Fisher’s case, he’s also retired. He doesn’t need another coaching job ever again. No one cares about Laurie Fisher except as a way to skewer Eddie Jones.

Haha, yeah. A couple of times his poker face broke.

No one is looking at Laurie right now.

Eddie Jones acting like a chicken sandwich. You know, a coqbaguette.

'Don’t know what you’re talking about': Jones denies wanting to quit Wallabies, throws a strop when asked about it

Minor bit of advice from a long-term Wallaby supporter: don’t get too emotional. Take a step back and watch the rest of the RWC and enjoy it. As for the RA drama, just take a step back and watch at a distance and find the funny part in it. As bad as it is, it’s actually quite funny. These people are the worst administrators in any sport in the entire world. Famed idiots, the RFU, managed to get one over RA by selling them a pup. The RFU. Those guys. Eddie Jones is throwing darts at a board to select players, then backflips and selects different ones. He then proceeds to make outrageous statements like “we’re going to win the RWC” and other such nonsense, and after the game he says he takes full responsibility while not resigning following Australia’s worst ever RWC showing. Looks like RA are going to keep him (remains to be seen) as they could have come out and fired him straight after in order to make a statement. In addition to this, it’s possible that Eddie is looking to jump ship but may struggle to get anyone interested under the circumstances. Eddie appears to be as much a prisoner of this situation of his own making as RA are. So get ready for at least a little more of this hilarious situation. It’s going to be a wild ride.

This was a great match. Make sure to look up the move that Portugal played around 56 min. Lovely set play, straight from the 80s or 90s.

“Honey, were you fired again!?”
“Nah, babe, I’m just taking a temporary 100% pay cut.”

Potential Eddie move that would 'surprise' Ryles, as assistant defends Wallabies' rugby IQ against 'yes men' taunt

He did not take a pay cut. He was fired. He also got a massive payout. with what RA’s paying him now, he’s earning MORE than he would have had he stayed the coach of England. There was no pay cut. You could argue that maybe he would earn more in the US, but there was no firm offer, so it’s vapour. He may also get a US job after the RWC (especially if Australia get eliminated early), but that’s no guaranteed and would be another pay increase. No pay cut.

Well, you’re definitely right about Tom Hooper and McReight.

I’ve also not seen Michael Hooper on Stan sport lately but I haven’t watched every program.

Wallabies young gun's RWC over ahead of do-or-die Test, intrigue over replacement as Ikitau returns for BaaBaas

Could Eddie Jones be suffering some sort of cognitive decline? I never really liked him, but he made some sense at least. Now it’s basically gibberish with no discipline.

'People smell blood': Eddie says Wallabies had to change ahead of World Cup ... even if it costs him his job

It’s bad. But I can’t tell what’s more entertaining: RA drama, or the rugby on the pitch. I’ve been a rugby tragic for a while now, but taking a step back and not getting so emotionally involved has allowed me to have a chuckle or two. These are some of the most incompetent and dishonest people on the planet – and they are getting their just desserts.

COMMENT: Kumbaya to chaos - if RA's boss is throwing in the towel so early, what exactly are we doing in France?

I’m suggesting that the statement “Eddie just isn’t private school enough for some” is way off base.

COMMENT: Eddie must be axed if he can't beat Wales - or the game will be in deep trouble in Australia

We need to put this to bed now. Lolesio was passed over by both Dave Rennie and Steve Larkham. He was never even really considered by Jones, which is completely understandable. He has lots of skills, but can’t seem to run a game. Once he learns that, he’ll be a serious contender for any team.
