Yes but the player concerned never marks like that! So perhaps some coaching is required there. However that is a long way from Macca’s position

Wright learns fate as massive hit on Swan sent directly to Tribunal

How do you determine that! Eyes on the ball, saw the Swans player in his peripheral vision and then turned his shoulders! Totally unintentional but he will get three weeks for the accidental head clash!

Interestingly, it was the Old Maroons under Bob Templeton who led the renaissance in the 70’s with their regular games against Canterbury and then other NZ provincial teams.

McReight masterclass, Uru statement: Reds smash Rebels in Aussie Super Rugby derby

Biscuit man can you please explain how it got worse? The only example is the Italian test which was lost. Since then they ( Italy) have been very impressive.
It should be noted that Rennie was not all happy having the Italian added to the itinerary and warned that they would need to play a second string team

Other than that game the Wallaby results were actually tracking upwards

Laurie Fisher confirmed on Team Joe as Wallabies invited to Ireland's 150th celebrations

Support play, which requires players to have a second or third involvement in a play has been the forgotten tenet of Australian rugby for the last twenty years. Having organised support play leads to players either getting second or third touches, or providing the support for the ball, carrier in a tackle. It encourages the concept of ‘ being useful’. Hopefully other Australian sides will develop the same !

'Be useful': how unrivalled discipline and work rate is lifting the Reds to new heights

The only difference is in perspective – in the haka the players are expressing an opinion to garner support in the stadiums, apartheid, Olympics etc governments are using them to garner support!

The Wrap: The two massive power shifts shaping Australian and New Zealand rugby

Woodart, I have to agree – keeping politics out of sport is like saying religion does not influence political decisions. Politicians influence sport by simply deciding which stadium to build (or rebuild), to public transport ( Ballymore’s demise?) arrangements. Don’t get started on the Olympics!

The Wrap: The two massive power shifts shaping Australian and New Zealand rugby

Well that is a step in the right direction! Hopefully, he is open to the idea!

Exclusive: Schmidt set to bring 'Lord' back to the Wallabies as first key appointment

Totally agree! A draw is a result, it just means that after 80 mins the two teams were equal. Golden point is a really silly thing, which perhaps was designed for the betting industry ( long straw).

'Let's see what the worst thing about rugby league is and do that': Loathsome blight union never needed

OM totally agree, while they are not being penalised it is poor technique which hinders and slows down support play as they are out off the game for that time.

ANALYSIS: How the Reds’ ruck system outshone their razzle dazzle - and why they must nail it against Canes

The inside players being primary responsible for supporting the ball player were a significant feature of Australian rugby support play in the 80s and 90s. It tended to disappear with the development of pods in the late 90s era. Unfortunately, this development also led to the disappearance of the support play for players when breaks were made. Have not seen the game discussed yet but absolutely delighted to hear it is making a return!

ANALYSIS: How the Reds’ ruck system outshone their razzle dazzle - and why they must nail it against Canes

The problem is quite simply he is terrible at bringing the ball ( runs across field) and defensively comes in far too early! There is a reason his side lets in so many tries. Can score when given space but the disadvantage out weight the positives as seen by the number of teams queuing up to sign him!

Hopefully the local media and so called rugby supporters will give him a fair go!

'Not a hit and run': Schmidt explains short-term deal and why he 'surprised' himself by taking Wallabies job

Certainly amateur, but the scenario that led to the development of the national plan are very similar. The woeful wallabies came home from NZ in 72 I think and the need to change direction was there. Think they saw Wales as the the leaders in coaching direction at that time and were influenced by their system. The ARU put up the money and the system began paying dividends reasonably quickly. The teaching strategies varied greatly but the skill key notes were consistent across the nation. The ARU abandoned the strategy in the early 21st century as a money saver. This was the worse decision and at the same time the regional coaching directors disappeared.
The structures are now reliant upon schools! The Queensland country age championships just took place and every division bar 1 was won by South Queensland. The scenario is not different but the wrong priorities have persisted for 20 years

The Wrap: How to fix Australian rugby? It’s all about coaching the coaches

Peter K in your 3 3 comments have hit the nail on the head! We had it under the old Marks Regime in the 80’s & 90’s when we had our greatest era of success. In addition we had regional director’s of coaching who were a very active source of coaching development, identification and just as importantly player development. I coached in North Queensland and the work of Ron Bourke was exceptional! He identified a number of outstanding talents in the Cobains, Ramsammy etc. The system was abandoned in the early 21st century! Who has this region produced since? Interestingly Dan McKellar is an other player talent identified by Ron!

The Wrap: How to fix Australian rugby? It’s all about coaching the coaches

Thought you would go there! The simple response is one no one has the right to tell another that they should not have a child! It’s ridiculous- which was my first point! You could pick any description you wish for the type of discrimination – race age etc! It is simply discrimination ( which is what racism is)

'Tough to read': Hawks greats, former Rioli teammates react to bombshell open letter

I would consider why he thought that he was in a position to know? We learn through our experience but that does not make them ‘all encompassing’! Individuals make decisions and then we have to live with them. The above suggestion could come from any employer and yes it would be discrimination based on age.

'Tough to read': Hawks greats, former Rioli teammates react to bombshell open letter

Ok I can accept some of that but you are also closing the door on much more subtle racism. I was once asked to get out of a taxi, after giving the driver an address because he was not helping …. lovers.

'Tough to read': Hawks greats, former Rioli teammates react to bombshell open letter

Mr Right can you please clarify what you mean by ‘true racism’? And who determines this?

Law 9.11 which states players must not do anything reckless and dangerous to others.

Tackler lifts legs beyond the horizontal. Ref uses his discretion. Now yellow card Penalty. Australian supporters livid. New Zealand supporter equivocal.

This was even more intentional as two players made the non ball carrier unstable by lifting between his legs. One withdrew the other continued and the only reason the player was not badly injured was he was able to place himself into s safer position. Obviously the ‘smarter’ decision was to do the opposite?

NZ View: 'Eight-week ban' wanted for 'full on grub'. While we rage at ref, Kiwis blow up at Wallabies 'villain'

Rugby is all about pressure, which is both physical( strength of body) but also created in the mind! You need to push boundaries with your thinking in both defence and attack so the opposition is continually asking themselves – ‘what are they doing to do next’? Loved both the reds attack and the article

Why Jim McKay is the best attack coach in Australian rugby

Yep I’m with Rabbit…pay a fortune just to watch the rugby! See you later foxtel

Nine reportedly enters rugby broadcast frame with bid for TV and streaming rights

I would consider the following changes; Brumbies 10 & 12 in with JP at 13. The 10 is a much better defender than O’Connor and Toomua will not be fit. I would drop the John Eagles medalist who has twice now come in to shut down the second last defender and failed to so – the outside man an easy walk across the line. On the bench I would have both the Reds halves!
In the tight I would consider starting with AA instead of TT, but also acknowledge that TT has got under the skin of the AB’s.

The focus has to be in training support play and communication – this is the primary reason we get turned over 1 metre from the try line- the abs get there quicker than we do!

Caleb Clarke's performance to the Wallabies' defensive wobbles: Four talking points from Bledisloe 2

Always remember getting a phone call from my brother in law in 1999. He was a member of Kennet’s government in Victoria and told me there was no doubt that 1. The Kennett would win andEssendon would flog Carlton in the AFL prelim final.
Both loss in upsets!

Bold Bledisloe selection calls prove the Wallabies are in excellent hands
