Something occurred to me late Saturday night/early Sunday morning. I was watching Steve Smith wander in slow motion across the crease during a gripping…

Almost everything great about our beautiful indigenous game – truly among the greatest Australian inventions – is being desecrated by a group of administrators…
It only takes a cursory glance at the Carlton BigFooty board to see their fans have lost hope. The actual Carlton board is becoming…
Myths are important. They inspire while distilling subconscious insights into the human condition. They were important when Hercules killed the Minotaur and they remain…
No character occupies the Australian sporting consciousness like Nick Kyrgios. You might be wondering if my definition of a character is just someone the…
Where have all the characters of the game gone? The Allen Jakovich-Mark Jackson-Warwick Capper mercurial nutcase that had the crowd enthralled, eyes wide, no…
This is absolutely right. It’s that sense that he’s entitled, that born to rule attitude. Might not be fair but his actions certainly don’t suggest otherwise!
It's time for new leadership at the AFL: Why Gil's gotta go
Or even AFLX! Fans are desperate for state of origin but we’re constantly told there’s no time to fit it in and players don’t want to play…but somehow they’re happy to play AFLX? Once again, an AFL money-spinning attempt, rather than finding a way to do something great for footy (bringing back state of origin)

The main issue is that they lack the moral authority to do justice to these worthwhile causes. Every now and then they should wade in for sure but it seems like they just do it for some rosy PR

It’s also swings and roundabouts, cycles and all that. Melbourne looked like they were a chance to pack it in during the Neeld era; just last year they were the most exciting team in the comp. Carlton will turn it around eventually, I just don’t think Bolton will play a part in that
Hiring and firing in the AFL: what to do with Brendon Bolton?
Yeh I actually think SOS’s job was more difficult than Bolton’s. Bolton has the opportunity to work with players year-round whereas SOS only gets a small window to improve the list each year. There’s some talent starting to accumulate but the depth is still awful, maybe worst in the league.
Do you think a realistic appraisal of Carlton would’ve had them finishing bottom 3, even if they’d improved a fair bit?
Hiring and firing in the AFL: what to do with Brendon Bolton?
Historical greatness of course but there is no doubt Carlton was once a great club. Would be a massive deal if they won a premiership. Prestigious club that has completely lost its way. Essendon is in a similar boat albeit not to the same degree
Hiring and firing in the AFL: what to do with Brendon Bolton?
Cripps is shaping to have a very unlucky career at this stage. Some have started to step up and help him but far too few. Kind of amazing he’s become such an inspiring leader given the dearth of senior figures at Carlton
Hiring and firing in the AFL: what to do with Brendon Bolton?
Scott certainly has a harder edge than Bolton. The opportunity to take Carlton back to greatness would have to be enticing as well. Definitely after an experienced coach?

No worries, thanks for reading. The alcohol is a big one for sure. On the train home from the West Coast game last night a guy was blind drunk and looking to start crap with anyone who would listen. He could barely speak. They should change it to 1-2 beers per person at a time tops
