I agree Alan, if the AFL are going to do the COLA properly, then it needs to be a competition-wide allowance that is adjusted periodically to match current statistics.

I’m not sure what you mean by this Matt? From what Sydney has been saying, the 9.8 per cent is applied universally to each player.
But you’re right in so much as that a second-round draft pick receives roughly the same amount as a rookie-listed player.

Of course, perhaps all clubs should receive an allowance that would correlate with the relevant statistics.
While I used Sydney as the example in this scenario, it doesn’t need to be limited to Sydney and GWS.
As a side note, issues surrounding equalisation continue to heat up. It looks like it may be one of, if not, the biggest issue in the next five or so years.
