Egads I’m shaken to my core 🤢

Heavies, workmen, or experience in the tight-five: The three options Schmidt has when picking first Wallabies team

I’d say we have the makings of such a 5 spread around the league

Waheyy

I like your picks olly but picking tupou necessitates picking two because he categorically can’t play 80.. considering the rebels might have been onto something having him play a reserve bomber from the bench I reckon I’d pick AAA who has been inaccurately/disproportionately blamed for the Brumbies’ scrum, imo, and switch them after 50-55

You’re being pretty fair there but don’t discount that slipper was apparently hobbled for much of the season, he might be better in the scrum than he has looked

I’d say we have the horses, we should be looking at the lions series in determining who to load caps onto.. we want our guys to have been there and done that to the greatest extent possible. Our player pool seems extremely young… I consider that a positive

It would have been unfair of us to think he’d be a pasty George gregan from day 1 as a full time Hb lol

'Embarrassed' and 'humiliated': Exit that shows Eddie is still haunting Wallabies - and why Joe must go all-in on Noah

There was one play where he had his hands in the ruck reaching for the ball, then someone started banging on the ruck you know, and he just got rooted to the spot staring at the ref, tripping over his feet.. ruined momentum and put his next runner on his heels… does it alll the time (white does it too – are they trying to draw a penalty for hands in the ruck or something?) then there was a play when the reds were a meter short between the posts, he fumbled it and dove back to regather, but instead of popping it to a waiting team mate turned around – presumably an attempted sneak – and got ran over and either lost possession or precipitated a failed attack (can’t remember which).. i flipped lol.. watching with dad who doesn’t like me getting to worked up but I couldn’t help just saying “why why why why” over and over ???? yeah, rough viewing for me

Well… April vs December but your point is well taken

And Noah’s 180/89kg, a veritable tank

Fantastic comment

His dad was 179/80kg as a player according to Google, lynagh’s already bigger than him.. methinks we’re overweighting the weight factor

'Embarrassed' and 'humiliated': Exit that shows Eddie is still haunting Wallabies - and why Joe must go all-in on Noah

His dad was a stringbean, he was only a few cm taller and he weighed less than tom weighs now.. i think we’re overstating size here, his dad was good enough despite his size – albeit in a different age.. i think tom is more likely to “gain time” and improve his skills than turn into some.. prop at 10

I’ll stop my joke of calling him “the amorphous brown paste” for a moment to say that yes, Donaldson looked better at the force than last year at the tahs. I enjoyed watching him at times, but I still would rather we invest in players who are about as good, several years younger than him
Toomua made a good point on the roar pod that it would be better to put 15 more caps into Noah – who is our best 10 at the moment, objectively – so we have an experienced 10 for the Lions, and that the same applies for all positions.. when the lions etc come they’ll all be absolute veterans, we can’t reel out a squad full of the highlight players of the previous 6 months (for example)
To be honest on reflection that’s another tick in Donno’s box to be a backup fullback/utility, the caps.. unlike Gordon he seems to have taken France in stride this year

I like him yeah, looks strong and more accurate.. but both he and Goddard come on against reserves and tired starters.. i think I remember Goddard getting a full game against the crusaders or Drua or someone and he was less of a stand out

Sigh, I don’t have particular reason to go after him specifically, it’s just he always seems to undermine things when he’s in high pressure games and, yeah it kinda paints a target on him.. he did a few things against the chiefs that made me jump up and stalk around the couch with my head in my hands lol

Agreed! Beyond that, he’s also accomplished a lot in gold already!

NL also has wins against AB, Boks, ARG, ENG, FRA series win, SCO and WAL all under the age of 22yrs old!

Mix of both but this was definitely, depressingly, a big part of it…

But i have to say in cron and foote the force and rebels had their best ever coaches last season, i think, which is another reason why they both had a sense of heightened competitiveness

I agree with you, but I also wasn’t as delighted by his play this year as last, when i really thought he had a chance of joining Lynagh and Larkham as a great Wallaby 10.. he lost it, if only temporarily..
But i think Noah is a valid test 10, he’s taller and heavier than Mo’unga, and Lynagh for what that’s worth, he is accurate off the tee, hard bitten, consistent, error free, demonatrably less “shakable” than any of our other 10s, conversely more experienced than any of them…
Second in points, second in assists in SR this season.
And, my favourite stat, from Cec:

Is that photo really of carter gordon and Jones? Looks more like a big blonde forward and more importantly i think Gordon had a mullet at the time

I was looking for your posting this, bang on!
Lest we forget he was second in assists and overall points scored in SR,too!

I don’t rate white at all, if everyone’s so sure Lonergan isn’t here yet then Gordon or Issak Fines-Leleiwasa for mine: tired of McDermott’s headless rabbit schtick, tired of white making us look like whingy poor losers

Man, people have been trying to pull this on forums for 20+ years, i know what I’m saying lol, he certainly contributed to it but you’re totally misrepresenting me in claiming I’m blaming the whole thing on him. That’s the message I got when i accused you of strawman’ing me.

What’s the anti circle jerk? The guy got constant plaudits by the writers on this site as well as elsewhere throughout the season, take it up with them if you think I’m the only person who thinks the #10 with the best Australian team, with the second highest points tally in the league, and second highest assists count, tons of minutes and sky high conversion accuracy vs. his peers, is any good.
