Sorry that should have been in 2019.

NRL Round 25 talking points: Resting to be tested and Cecchin gets late respect

Don’t think so, after last year’s shocker when the Raiders were dudded because of a second ref on the field!

NRL Round 25 talking points: Resting to be tested and Cecchin gets late respect

Touch judges might just as well not be there anymore. They might as well just stand behind the goalposts for 80 minutes to raise or drop their flags for a conversion. No referee takes notice of a linesperson’s calls any more.

How did everyone get Latrell Mitchell's hit on Joseph Manu so wrong?

Journalism isn’t journalism any more … or perhaps I should say reporting isn’t reporting any more. Certainly not like it was in my 50 years as a journalist.

NRL may bend the rules in order to sign Joseph Suaalii

Penrith and Canberra have been super rivals since their successive grand final clashes in the early 90s.

Rugby league's four greatest rivalries

Darren Lockyer was a great player but a recruitment guru he ain’t! I remember when Milford rejected the Broncs original offer to leave the Raiders, Bennett sent Locky to Canberra to entice the kid to Brisbane because he would play five-eighth and Locky would look after him. All they did for Milford was to bulk him up so far that he lost his speed, his agility and his attacking brilliance. If that was Locky’s ‘help’ then pity help the Broncs’ next number 6 aspirant.

Eight talking points from NRL Round 10

Ben Cummins involved again. And once again the decision cost the losing team in a big way. Deprived Penrith of a crack at the final.

Obviously you didn’t see Reg Gasnier or Johnny Raper.

Eight talking points from NRL Round 5

But only one referee with enough guts to do it. And he was forced to retire last year. Thank God he’s back this year but I wonder how many Storm games he’s get?

Eight talking points from NRL Round 5

He went missing in Canberra yesterday!!!!!

NRL team of the week: Round 4

Typical. Melbourne get all the calls. It was a disgrace that play wasn’t stopped for the Cowboys’ double injury problem. Took the same referees about 2 seconds to decide to stop play when a Storm player copped a bleeding nose. Will be interesting to hear Graeme Annersley’s take on these incidents. But we know what it will be don’t we? The referees made the right call. Of course they did; it was Melbourne and referee Cameron told them what to do!!!!!!!

Cowboys robbed by full-time siren

Sorry Geoff but Milford has lost the speed he had at the Raiders because Wayne Bennet wanted him to put on weight. And he has piled on the weight since leaving Canberra. That has cost him his brilliance and his speed. You can’t have both in Rugby League. Had he remained at the Raiders where his speed and brilliance were being utilised he may well be playing for Australia today; i.e if he was prepared to forego his Samoan allegiance. There was no more brilliant player in the game when Milford was wearing lime green. Today, a beefed-up slowed-down Milford is just another player running around in a battling side. Wonder if he still believes it was a smart move to turn down a huge Raiders’ offer just to be coached by Wayne Bennett with promised “help” from Darren Lockyer? Didn’t take Lockyer long to break his promise and leave a young disillusioned Anthony Milford to his own devices. Where is Lockyer now when the once brilliant youngster needs some sound advice? And don’t give me the bull…. that he was homesick and wanted to return to Queensland. Where was that homesickness during his several years through the Raiders’ junior ranks, the under 20s and his first season in first grade? He was just another case of Bennett wanting to pick the eyes out of every other club’s products, one reason why the Broncos are struggling today. How many of their current players have come up through the club’s own junior ranks?

The 2019 Brisbane Broncos are struggling and it won't get any better

Obviously none of you self-acclaimed ‘experts’ have seen Round 1 2019. A few members of the Raiders’ spine might have you eating your words before the 2019 season is over. Agree Sezer needs to step up, but he was good against the Titans, in deplorable conditions that would have tested any number 7 in the NRL, even some of our past greats.

Why the Raiders have the worst spine in the NRL

Did Souths actually play in this game? Wouldn’t know from this story!

Robinson laments poor defending in Round 1 loss

As a crime and court reporter for close to 50 years I agree with Tim’s comments. My observations tell me that De Belin has substantial grounds for appealing the NRL stand-down decision and any reasonable lawyer will have little difficulty winning a restriction of trade claim against the NRL, a claim that could end up being extremely expensive for the NRL if it goes to court. The stand down was a knee-jerk reaction on the part of the NRL, as well intended as it might have been.

When sport attacks civil liberties: The NRL’s no-fault stand down

You wouldn’t have a clue. There are so many errors in this story it is unbelievable. Get your facts straight before making so many outlandish comments. How long is it since you spoke to someone – anyone – in the Raiders camp to check where the club is heading and where players will be lining up in the first 17 in 2019? Some months is my guess.

NRL 2019 season preview: Canberra Raiders

If Greenberg hadn’t swept Barba’s misdemeanour at Canterbury under the carpet when both were at that club (CEO and player) Barba MIGHT not have ventured into the same issues later in his career and rugby league might not have lost one of its most brilliant players! Where were Greenberg’s clairvoyant powers and fit and proper person credentials then? Based on that performance how the hell was Greenberg determined a fit and proper person to lead the NRL? Makes one wonder doesn’t it?

How to get fit (and proper) the NRL way

Hear! Hear! Great comment. Sums up what most intelligent people think of Shane Warne the man. Great spin bowler but a man; I think not.

Shane Warne calls out "the most selfish player I ever played with"

Of course it did. Slater deserves to play in the grand final on the strength of his NRL record, but not on the basis of that incident. It was a shoulder charge under the current rules and players from other clubs have been suspended, even in the latter stages of the 2018 competition, for similar and even less serious offences. No wonder we, and the players, are confused.

Cordner, Meninga confused by shoulder charge ruling

Great article Tim Gore. I hope Josh gets to read it because, as a die-hard Raiders supporters since 1982, I felt let-down by this stupid pair. Saying sorry to the Canberra club, team, supporters and the city in general would go some way to our being able to forgive, if not forget.

Josh, you want a fair go? Start by saying sorry

Maybe the last few weeks provides solid evidence that Ricky needs to retain Josh Hodgson as captain in 2019. His influential leadership has been the difference in the Raiders’ end-of-season form reversal.

Stuart crestfallen at missing NRL finals

Melbourne must be wondering if they were robbed!

Sorry Cronulla, but violating the salary cap in the past isn't just a "historical issue"

The last two games have shown what the Raiders can do with a fair crack of the whip from match officials. For the first time this season, Canberra got their fair share of the 50/50 calls, even if there was a question mark over the linesman over-ruling the referees on the alleged forward pass for what would have been Soliola’s second try. Happy to accept it might have been fractionally forward but have seen many tries allowed under similar circumstances this season.

Raiders sink Souths 24-12

Now you know how the Raiders felt when they were robbed of victory against your side Flanagan. The difference is your team won and the Raiders WERE robbed, as the NRL officials have admitted.

Sharks coach Flanagan pans NRL referees

Where the hell did they find James Bracey? Hopeless.
