There are a lot of positives from the game on the weekend. Australia was by far the better team with 14 vs 15 men. The refereeing was not consistent , nor in the spirit of the game by being impartial, so there was little chance of winning. Just like the Scotland game, when the refs admitted that they got it wrong and could have swayed the game, nothing changed. So the Wallabies are a strong team when officiated from impartiality. It seems like this is revenge from the perception Australia was favoured a few world cups ago. Erasmus was wrong in interfering with the upcoming test, but the elephant in the room is the ambiguous rugby laws and the consistency of officiating them. Rugby has become so smart and sophisticated , it has made the rules and application of them stupid. We need to apply the KISS rule to the laws and referring of the laws.

Why it's not all doom and gloom for the Wallabies

The team that beat the Springboks is the team that had a good chance of beating England and Scotland. That has been our problem over the years. We have the potential to be world beaters, but hindered in who we an pick. The last 10 years is all about protecting super rugby talent and luring our talent to play in Australia and forgoing our best team to achieve this. The Springbok’s games showed us what we can achieve if we are able to pick our best team.

UK View: Give Smith the keys, and 'how on God's earth did Wallabies beat the Springboks?'

Nick is a Welshman who is not a coach or player, impartial to Aussie teams. Rassie is the Springbok’s coach. Big difference.

You aren't imagining it... proof the Wallabies were hard done by

Should we have taken Harrison or Donaldson? Are they our best 10’s?

The Wrap: Dumb rugby sees Wallabies sacrifice too many points at Murrayfield

seems like Ikitau is brilliant when supported by Cooper and Kerevi and lacks composure without experience surrounding him.

Tate McDermott, despite several flaws is our form number 9. I prefer it when he starts.

so who are the best candidates that play flatter at number 10? How would you rate Will Harrison, Noah, and other candidates at 10 in regards of taking the ball to the line and flat accurate passes?

The Wrap: Dumb rugby sees Wallabies sacrifice too many points at Murrayfield

Agreed. 2 players won’t make us win, but they could be the difference between a win and a loss.

The 10, 12, 13 combination is not working. It was brilliant with Cooper and Kervi, and we are trying to substitute like for like. Who do you recommend we have as the 10 and 12 for the next game?

What was the common factor in the 5 straight wins that was missing this morning? It is pretty obvious what our points of difference are and both of them are unavailable.

Cooper is our best choice for 10, but without him, what would be your ideal 9,10, 12 and 13 look like for the Europe tour , given our players available? Personally I would go for 9. Tate M 10. James O, 12: Izia P 13. Len I

Discrimination is rampart in 2021. I support players taking a knee in solidarity for those discriminated against , especially in 2021 in Victoria, NSW, NT and WA whereby state wide discrimination is now in law creating medical apartheid in Australia. We need others to take the knee for those in Australia and overseas who are discriminated against. It’s like Rosa Parks all over again, but worse. This time people can’t even get on the bus. In America the apartheid there is massively in favour of discriminating against those of darker skin. I applaud sports people taking the knee because all lives matter, not just those who have been given the deadly jab.

I remember Ron Casey announcing the Rank Area big game. That was funny!

The good, the bad and the Blocker: who are the best and worst of NRL's TV callers?

Daryl Eastlake was the best! The 12th man was funny. I’d like to hear the 12th man call some games.

Cooper and Kervi were brilliant. In perspective, the boks scored 3 tries to our 1. A win is a win, but we still are the underdog.

A rapid Wallabies turnaround, and other non-Cooper observations

I think Merhts is one of the best commentators. I remember him commenting on the Crusaders last year making the snide remark of how everyone loves them. He has sharp wit.

Are the Wallabies in 2021 a lost cause? Are we that bad, or teething with new plays and new found opportunities in attack? What do we need to do to beat the all blacks?

Central Qld does not have regular lockdowns. Better for the game!

D-day arrives for NRL expansion candidates

Gene Miles and Bob Lindner used to play for Wynnum Manly 👍 Don’t think Manly in Brisbane is up to NRL standard. Better for Central Qld.

D-day arrives for NRL expansion candidates

Brisbane already has a team, so too Gold Coast and Townsville. What is needed is a team in Rockhampton or Mackay.

Is Manly in Brisbane a candidate too?

What we want to see is the Super Rugby competition being the best provincial rugby competition in the world.
Money talks! The players will follow the money. If SR is the best in the world we need to pay the best in the world. That aint gonna happen. There seems a disconnect with reality. Gone are the amaetur days. In Soccer, imagine if we boasted the A league will be the best in the world, or our NBL, or our supercars etc. The best domestic comps in the world pay the best bucks. Think NBA, EPL, IPL. The day super rugby is the best comp in the world is the day NSW will have “0” COVID cases all season.

'We're not heading to open slather': RA chair moves to cool Giteau Law hype

No it will not. Will making OS based players ineligible for Wallabies selection strengthen SR? The evidence from the last few years indicates no.

Would bringing back Wallabies from overseas actually make a difference?

Who won SR this year? Who will likely win next year? Will the current setup have Oz teams able to with SR in the next 3 years? If an OZ side beat a NZ side it is a huge upset. SR Oz is interesting as the winners can come from any of the 5 teams. SR ANZ is too lopsided with NZ brilliance. If insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results, then sticking to what we have is nuts. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Well SR Oz is broke and we need to do some things different, ala Socceroos and selecting the best players. It hasn’t harmed the A league- it actually made it better.

Excellent point! We have some world beaters there, lost to league and the quick $.
