Passionate Rugby fan. First and foremost the Tahs but love to see all the Australian conferences do well. Enjoy league and cricket.

I take your point Sportym but think that the cricket example is completely flawed. The different forms are played over different lengths of time/overs and that in itself changes the tactics. Test and Super Rugby are both over 80 minutes. The parallel with limited over cricket could perhaps be drawn with sevens… but even then not really.
You are right in the fact that test rugby is a different beast in regard to risk taking though.

Test Rugby versus Super Rugby: Is there a difference?

Of course you think that the man on the Clapham Omnibus would agree with you…. because you plainly think you are a reasonable man, how could you not have insight….

BTW. I forgive you all your incredibly one eyed statements after your comment on Phil Waugh on the Pelennor Fields. The Orc is one ugly human, well done.

Four starting changes and the longest Wallabies bench ever

Fos. Nice try, but for it to be “apprehended bias” there needs to be a “fair minded observer”….. I think that most would agree that you do not fit this description.

Four starting changes and the longest Wallabies bench ever

Hi Rob, sorry for the late reply. I thought that Sam Windsor had a great season and put himself on the radar as a EPS option for Super Rugby. Will Miller is a name for the future and Tom Robertson is a strong looking young prop who got some game time. Grayand Kellaway were the stand-outs though and will be seen a lot more in the future I would think.

Dissecting the inaugural National Rugby Championship (part I)

I have loved the NRC this season. Disappointed that Bris City scraped in over the Eagles to get into the Grand Final, but look forward to watching the Grand Final. The product itself has enormous potential. I have been to a couple of games at Leichardt as well as the Eagles game out at Dubbo and have not seen better rugby for a long time. It was not flawless by any stretch, but it was helter skelter and there were some extraordinary skills on display in attack and in defence. Cannot wait for the next few seasons, as it begins to develop a stronger following and the marketing catches up. Great work to Brett for covering it this year as well. It has been good to be able to escape the other stories….

Dissecting the inaugural National Rugby Championship (part I)

Just plant another seed….. with absolutely no idea.

Wallabies deny culture of misogyny

Anthony, I hope you realise that this is an opinion site. Rather than having a go at Brett who has put in some serious hours to shed some light on the inaugural NRC season, take your own suggestion and write the story yourself… focussing on whatever it is you feel has been lacking in other articles. Don’t bring a problem, be the solution.

NRC Semi-Finals: The final that no-one picked

Hooper???!!! Well that is just too much. He must be related to the captain and have inside knowledge. Lets take it as gospel and start to talk about it as though it is factual……

Michael Cheika named Wallabies coach - to take team to 2015 World Cup

How on earth could that be a condition when it is going before an independent tribunal on Friday…? Lets not let the truth get in the way of a good story though, one would think that we have had enough of that in Australian Rugby lately, but the rumour mill continues…..

Michael Cheika named Wallabies coach - to take team to 2015 World Cup

Love it. That would be hilarious. Howzat sir!!!????

NRC 'own try' the worst refereeing blunder of all time?

I am not sure what you expect them to do. There were not video replays available to the on field ref. The video ref got it very wrong, as did Hoiles in the commentary box. Did you expect them to go into damage control over this?

I think that it is one for the highlight reel and a very pointed reason to look into the different strips in next years competition. Other than that I think that we should just talk about what a great game it was last night other than the howler.

NRC 'own try' the worst refereeing blunder of all time?

I am afraid that a spectacular playing roster is not new in Tahland. Leadership and a lack of politics is….. Hence my reasoning. I expect that you will continue with your conspiracy theories nevertheless so… as you were.

The Beale saga: Focus about to switch firmly onto McKenzie

In my opinion I think that your opinion is refreshing Brett. It seems that there is an incredible amount of false information eddying about at the moment and people wanting the heads of the Captain, the CEO, the Coach, the broader leadership group etc etc etc need to take a chill pill and wait to see what washes up over the next little while. Just my opinion though.

The Beale saga: Focus about to switch firmly onto McKenzie

You blokes are extraordinary. The leadership group supported Beale. That includes James Slipper who is as Red as Kev. Stop using this as an excuse to slag the Tahs. The reason that they won this year is because Cheika stomped on the ridiculous and damaging internal politics at Moore Park. There is nothing to see here…. move on.
I hope that there is another massive news story that pops up in the next few days and we can all focus a little less on this farce. Should be an interesting game on Saturday anyway. Good on AAC for making his hundred. I would like to see a breakdown of what positions he has played throughout that time….

The Beale saga: Focus about to switch firmly onto McKenzie

I think that the thing that has made Cheika actually able to make changes at the Waratahs is that the $$$ are not the key driver for him. He is a smart guy and made it very clear that he had very specific requirements from the Waratahs before he took the job. These were political… not fiscal. I would assume that he would have the same requirements from the Wallabies. I doubt we will see him in Argentina at this stage.

SPIRO: Anatomy of the Beale-ARU crisis: Heads must roll

ha ha…..

SPIRO: Anatomy of the Beale-ARU crisis: Heads must roll

Could not agree more. Half the supposed fans on here seem to take some sort of morbid pleasure in situations like this and to hope for the worst. There are comments on Beale’s fitness which makes me think that the authors have not watched any rugby since 2012/13 and still think Kurtley is playing for the Rebels.

Beale facing ARU integrity probe after Wallabies flight

Growden loves to throw grenades and pretend he has the inside word on everything. I for one was enjoying life without him spouting his rumours weekly on the SMH. But am disappointed to hear he is still doing so on ESPN.
Can’t wait for the long weekend game between the Stars and the Eagles at Leichardt… what a way to spend a Monday afternoon.

The NRC wrap Round 6: If the sun shines, they will come

Is Growden throwing grenades again? I am pretty glad he is on ESPN now so that I do not have to deal with the veiled comments and ridiculous innuendo whenever her pretends to break news.

National Rugby Championship: Round 6 preview, team lists

played plenty of first grade this year in a pretty dominant Marlins outfit until the finals.

National Rugby Championship: Round 6 preview, team lists

It will certainly die if every Rugby fan had an attitude like yours. A lot of my rugby friends not only know it is on, but are actively supporting it. Thursday has become the favourite night of the week, as there is an opportunity to sit down and watch some good quality, previously unknown rugby players strut their stuff, as well as see what Lloyd Johansson looks like after he has eaten 6 sheep!

I do not know much about the QLD country side but the Eagles have some great supporters and there are a large group of us making the trek to Dubbo to support the boys as well as congratulate the Roos on their 3rd and 1st grade premierships this season. I would have been happier if blokes like Ben McCalman and Pat McCutcheon were in the Eagles squad but there is still plenty of Country lads representing. As Brett mentioned, there are a few real positives that have come from the NRC already with young talent being signed by the Super Rugby Franchises. I like the look of Jim Stewart the outside centre for the Stars. Strong kid.

Do Queensland Country represent country Queensland?

The fact that he is from Canowindra…. country NSW would be your answer. But perhaps you couldnt be bothered to know that either. Most country footballers have to make the trek to Sydney to get an opportunity to play decent level rugby and be looked at for higher honours. This makes them no less representative of the area.
The negativity of come people on here is interesting. Perhaps they don’t like change. It is a lot easier and more enjoyable to be positive though. Give it a go, you just might like it.

National Rugby Championship: Round 3 preview, team lists

But it was one.. and the Tahs did win… and the stats are the only ones to go by….. and you will have to wait another year. Bad luck Barry.

Ewen McKenzie handed winning formula on a platter

Jeznez, your boys had every opportunity to win it. They were the better team for most of the game for mine, but just kept dropping the pill. It must have been pretty slippery because they left about four or five tries out there at the very least.
Jed Holloway is a great player. He stands out at club level and was just as good here. Cant wait to see how he goes when he gets some time for the Tahs. He has some serious toe for a big guy.

The Vikings Ram home their point

Waratahs had the best defensive record in the S15 this season. I think that the defensive structure will get better as the teams get more comfortable. Defense is about trusting the guy outside you and the structures. Some of these guys don’t even know the guy outside them yet….. give it more than a fortnight.
