What attack? They just kept kicking the ball away mostly, even though Steyn’s boot was having an off night. I think “unimaginative” is being a bit generous, really.
Super semifinal pits present against future
I understand all of that, but you can’t discount the stats entirely. Kallis’ record is evidence of sustained success over a huge period of time, more than 150 test matches. He deserves credit for that. You can’t write it all off as cheap runs and wickets, particularly when Kallis has faced some pretty classy bowlers and batsmen in his time. It is all very well to say that “well, if Miller had cared more then he would have better stats”, but he didn’t. You’re arguing with a hypothetical.

I reckon that would be brilliant for the spectators. There’s a similar tier system with the rugby sevens, keeps everyone entertained.

Interesting idea. Not sure if the players would see much incentive though. The top six are all playing to win the whole comp. Finishing 7th instead of 9th probably isn’t that much of a big deal in the players’ minds.

Not a bad pick for player of the week, James Graham. Really stood out, and not just cause of the flaming hair.
Five things we learned from NRL round 20
It’s just unfortunate that Cook made those comments. Now the whole process has been sullied, whoever gets chosen.

Miller, what a bloke. Still building bridges.

Very interesting point, thanks for that mate.

Miller is a very interesting player. Similar batting stats to Watto, but a better bowling average, something like 22 v 28. And Watto hasn’t reached Keith’s level of longevity quite yet.
Kallis epitomises value of genuine all-rounder
Name a better Aussie all-rounder then. Keith Miller perhaps? Not better than Kallis though.

Also the Bulls played terribly from the opening whistle. No use kicking the ball away all the time when you’re having a shocker with the boot.
Finals highlight Australian rugby's lack of depth
Hmmm. The article isn’t explicitly about stroke making. It is a debate over who has been the best batsman, full stop. Kallis could have been mentioned, but you can certainly make a persuasive argument that Ponting, Lara and Tendulkar have all been better specialist batsmen, if you so choose.

Surely it’s the 3rd most popular code. Football only gets a run during World Cup years. If rugby ever drops to fourth I may just have to flee the country.
Cream always finds its way to the top
Emric have they really? Well now I want Sydney Uni included in the ITM Cup. Just to see the chip get smashed off their shoulder.

Just got an image of Phil Kearns with pom poms and a cheerleader outfit. Not pretty stuff.
Cream always finds its way to the top
Agreed. Whereas if an unheralded rookie had played like Carter or McCaw the other night, the media would be raving about his talent.
Cream always finds its way to the top
Not going to happen, but it would probably help. I always think that the NZ cricket side (which is incompetent) would benefit from having some of its domestic teams play in the Australian comp. Similar thing. Again, not going to happen though.
Cream always finds its way to the top
If that’s the case, it isn’t really a good sign for the Wallabies. Cooper is one of those brilliant players who can go to pieces every now and then in a test match. Not an ideal talisman if you’re after consistency.

The problem with all of those head to heads is the second number in each. Two losses to England, draw and a loss with Ireland, lost one to Wales, lost two to Scotland… France is the only really impressive record. Should be aiming for zero losses to northern sides.
Dingo Deans' Wallaby Stats (Pt 2)
I’d like to see Barnes given a sustained run at twelve. I know the modern trend is to throw big guys into the centres, but the Aussie midfield is just horribly uncreative at the moment. Sticking Barnes in there would take some of the creative pressure off of Cooper.

Fair point. It all starts up front!
