Timely predictions for NFL 2015
Good call, Steve. It’s a much improved division over the last two seasons. I saw one NFL analyst predict all four teams would finish above .500.

Not comparing Hayne and Smith athletically. In fact I make a point of saying that. Comparing them in terms of learning the playbook and the language of the NFL.
I was wrong about Jarryd Hayne
True Tiger you’re a visionary. Similiar response to David Boston.
Running the ball back on punt returns is not that difficult for someone like Hayne. Agreed. But when I wrote the piece in October I wrote that Hayne’s best chance of making a roster was being versatile – playing RB and return man – and because the return position had been undervalued he would need to play RB as well, therefore learn playbook, understand schemes etc.

The media coverage has been a bit embarrassing hasn’t it. I cringed a week or so ago when Australian media were saying the Broncos were running scared and kicking the ball away from him when they were just kicking touchbacks.
I was wrong about Jarryd Hayne
I mean overall the divide is still fairly wide. Hayne is one of only a few that could do it. Just my opinion.

Hayne's NFL dream doomed to fail
Sailosi. I found a recent article on Smith. http://m.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/rugby/australian-code-hoppers-incredible-journey-back-to-rugby-after-nfl-season-with-new-york-jets/story-fni2fxyf-1227508247784?sv=930d130a2c1ec12e5515a224d78860ac
I was wrong about Jarryd Hayne
I agree with you. But I think it’s important to point out that Hayne is, arguably, the best athlete in the NRL. There might only be two or three other guys currently in the NRL who are in the same ball park as him. He was carving it up in the NFL against third and fourth-string players. So while I do think there is some snobbery (and I am guilty of it) around the NRL and NFL. I think the divide is still fairly wide.

I agree mate. I was really interested when I first read those quotes from Smith last year. Gives awesome insight into the challenge. I hope eventually someone will talk to Hayne in depth about how difficult it was to learn the playbook, understand what was going on etc.
I was wrong about Jarryd Hayne
Hey Steve. I know I wasn’t the only one who said he would fail. It’s funny though people who aren’t willing to make their opinions public, but will then hammer others when they turn out to be wrong. What is wrong with society (and it seems to be mostly Twitter) that we revel so much in people being wrong?
I was wrong about Jarryd Hayne
Yeah I think initially when I wrote that “zero chance” I was incensed that someone thought they could waltz into the NFL without ever playing the game before. I admit to typical NFL snobbery.
I was wrong about Jarryd Hayne
Yep. I didn’t say he didn’t make the roster, just that he was waived a year later. One catch for 16 yards in a season and then he was cut.
I was wrong about Jarryd Hayne
How can you call these “logical roster moves” and say “Kelly knows exactly what he is doing”. These are some of the most shocking NFL trades and free agency moves in recent memory, according to, well, EVERYBODY who covers the NFL.
NFL gets trade crazy: What is Chip Kelly thinking?
Kelly has since signed DeMarco Murray and Ryan Matthews. So, we thought that he didn’t want to spend big money at running back when he dealt LeSean McCoy away, but now he’s given out almost $30 million in guaranteed money to secure a three-headed monster at running back.
NFL gets trade crazy: What is Chip Kelly thinking?
That he did. Rust says something like “Someone once told me….” But I wasn’t sure anyone would know about Ledoux, so I credited it to Cohle. History is written by the victors.
