Jennings – Never said he was on minimum wage.
Toupou – Roosters haven’t resigned him and in fact is going back to parra cause we can’t fit him in the cap (however, still on the original contract we offered him when he was a parra nobody)
Moa – Looking to resign with us but again we have salary cap restraints (Still on the original contract we bought from him when he was unwated from the super league)
Evans – Still on the original contract we signed him as a starting junior
Friend – We only recently resigned him
Pearce – only recently resigned him
Aubusson – Not on heaps as he wants to stay and not sought out but other clubs
Napa – Not on huge money as he is still on his original contract as an up and comer
JWH – Unwanted at manly so we got him cheaply

Players we lost due to salary cap restraints
SBW
Maloney
RTS
Toupou
Minichello

Also, answer me this, were these players all rep and international players before the 2013 season? In fact had you heard of them before? Napa, Toupou, RTS, Evans, Cordner, Guerra, Moa??? What were there original contracts at the roosters? Have they actually resigned?

Come on man…

SMITHY: It's easy to cry foul about the Roosters (but you'd be wrong to do so)

Hater is a harsh word.. Maybe uneducated ill informed opinion is better?

Parra? You mean the ones still paying Jarryd Hayne or paying $600k a season for sandow? Or the fact they sacked 12 players and and to still pay them? Yeah it is a mystery how they are over the cap…. Really?

lol where’d you pull those stats from? Kevin. Go back to your hole buddy. Or actually maybe look at the stats and membership numbers. Proof? Nah you don’t need proof, you have an opinion. “Parasite and low intelligence” hmmm…

MASCORD: The numbers don't lie, State of Origin is the people's game

Thanks for your feedback Renegade.

I agree that wearing the green and gold is and always has been the pinnacle in the eyes of the players, but that’s where it stops. You’re right that the media plays on and fuels the Origin hype and again you’re correct in saying that who cares?

Well i think any player that is proud to represent their country and not eligible for Origin selection?

If origin is the pinnacle, according to many, than what is test football?

At no point do i think Origin is dead or ever will be, but i think that the quality of international football is on the rise and being the multi-cultural country that we are we have a lot of fans of different nations – Somoa vs Tonga is a prime example of that – great game and passionate supporters. There just needs to be a bit more hype and marketing around the international games.

Weak Origin shows Test football is now the pinnacle of rugby league

I dont think its the number of points that is scored in a game really mean the quality of the game. Prime example is the 2013 final between Roosters vs Manly. What a game that was, tough and some quality football. Final score? 4-0. Defense wins games not only in league but in a lot of different sports.

The NRL has tried to speed up the ruck and encourage open play but that has failed, i dont think the speed this year is really any different than last year.

Like it has already been said they need to reduce the interchange rule so that forwards have a chance to get fatigued which will then open up the game and encourage “the little” guys to run amok.

Defence in the NRL is king, but it shouldn't be

Well if he misses origin 2 at least Gallen will be back and peats will slot in at hooker. Although, i dont think peats’ form warrants selection. As for the tackle itself? To say there was no malice in it, is completely false. However, it is certainly not illegal and in fact a good tackle.

Robbie Farah in doubt for Origin 2 with a shoulder injury

Agree with most points of the article. Pearce was great in first half and nearly bagged a try for himself being tackled right near the line. The second half though? Well the forwards lost it. We were gaining an average of 20-30 metres on each set of six, whereas, the QLD forwards were gaining 50-60. I think there was maybe 2-3 times pearce could have done an attacking kick in their 30 and he failed each time.

I doubt any half in the game could kick well behind that forward pack. When NSW forwards dominated in the 1st half thurston cronk and smith barely came out with decent kicks either, usually finding dugan on the chest.
