You know your team is in dire straits when people start using terms like “war chest”.

The Brisbane Broncos' potential $2.7 million war chest

Yes it is actually. He was only on loan to Newcastle (similar to Kahu going to the cowboys last year) with plans to sign on to another club for ‘21. With the injury he may struggle to get signed and will end up staying in Brisbane.

Salary cap relief for Radley and Verrills? Give us some relief for Bird. Blokes been at the club almost as many years as games he’s played.

Bradman in line for Dally M honours as the Best young talent in the NRL

There was Ruan Sims? She didn’t watch the game live at the grounds due to still being an active player (which should’ve already precluded her from being a judge anyway) and having her own match at the same time. She instead watched a replay later then submitted her votes.

Anyone thinking ROTY is going to someone other than Harry Grant is kidding themselves.

I don’t know about Price, but I know he recommended against Henjak and Stone.

Hunt can’t do 80 at hooker. Can barely get through 60. The drop off in quality is pretty noticeable once he starts to fatigue.

NRL Round 8 teams: Friend back for Roosters, Broncos drop Oates

Overthinking it Joe. The storm don’t lose at Suncorp.

Storm and Roosters to clash in Broncos heartland

Yeah people go on about Bennett being a grump but tbh, while he doesn’t like the attention, I’d reckon he’s more comfortable with it being on himself right now rather than the fact that his team is only 2 points plus f/a ahead of probably one of the biggest car wrecks of the modern era (my poor, poor broncos)

Wayne Bennett doesn't have a leg to stand on when firing up about his future

The NRL must’ve had some inkling that something like this could happen given they moved the storm out of Melbourne last week. Although fair enough given that it’s only the one team they could’ve just been lucky deciding it was easier to move them then rather than later.

AFL reveals Round 5 changes after Richmond denied entry to Queensland

For the life of me I couldn’t understand the reasoning. They got touched up by Souths sure, but they were also 2-2 since the season recommenced. It’s not exactly an ideal situation set up for winning that they find themselves in either.

I get that Kearney would’ve been on thin ice after how they started the season, but imo the situation warranted him keeping the job for 2020.

Warriors could fly back to NZ after Storm spanking

I understand the one ref may have been more about saving money than it was the game, and there’s every chance it may only be for this year, but it just strikes me as a bit odd. I’d like to see the 6 to go rule implemented under the two ref system.

NRL enjoys best TV ratings in more than half a decade

It was a bit more than the skinny 10 that gave parra the game. Brisbane bombing 2 or 3 very scorable tries first half and then all but refusing to hold onto the ball in the second probably played a larger part.

Seven talking points from NRL Round 3

He seemed to have been in and out of the side sporadically under Brown. I’ll admit I haven’t watched the knights religiously but from what I have watched of them and EseEse, I can’t imagine form was the major factor. I’d have to guess there just wasn’t room for him in Browns 17.

After two years of turmoil, have the reloaded Cowboys got enough to go all the way?

The nrl waited for the AFL to release their plans? If the NRL didn’t get the ball rolling for May 28 the AFL would still be looking at a July/August start date.

NRL releases fixture for Rounds 3 and 4 ahead of competition restart

A fair chunk would come from paying fees to use the tech.

Bunker to survive NRL cost cuts

I don’t mind it, however it does present a problem in late game situations. You can slow the game down as much as you want defending your own line with a 1 point lead and a minute left on the clock because now the ref can’t blow a penalty at all let alone being reluctant to.

The pros and cons of the NRL's one-ref move

How so in regards to Ikin over Lockyer? Lockyer to my knowledge never played out of position in rep footy. He moved from an interchange utility half at club level to full time fullback, played fullback at rep level, moved to 6 in ‘04 and played 6 at rep level.

Who will be rugby league's next Immortal?

The QLD government were pretty clear in the media, and reportedly behind closed doors, that the NRL shouldn’t even bother trying to get games played in QLD. It wasn’t until after things started looking a bit more likely that the government back tracked and said they wanted a plan put forth and were open to the possibility of it dependant on state medical advice.

Whether it was a miscommunication between the two parties and/or government departments, or just a change of heart I wouldn’t know. Given the details available though the latter seems a lot more likely and the NRL could hardly be blamed for leaving them out in the cold.

Imo if the NRL can get something organised quickly then go for it, but it looks to me as a bridge too far in regards to time restraints. for the moment I think they should commit to playing all matches in NSW for the first 4 rounds at least and revisit the issue once they have their safeguards in place and the competition going again.
