Sam Mitchell’s face! It was like someone had scraped the butter from his toast.

Campbell Brown claims Hawks are 'home', watches Port kick two goals in 30 seconds to steal INSANE win

It looks like Parker will get suspended for 5 games.

Footy Fix: How the Swans have turned their biggest weakness into another strength - and become all but unstoppable

A chance? I already calculate him to be on 20 plus points. Port’s stars will split too many points between them. Curnow and McKay and maybe Weitering will take points from Carlton’s midfielders. Brisbane and Adelaide will not win enough games. Naicos is a chance and maybe Merret. Always a smokey who goes well in the 2nd half of the year though.

Yes, I agree, the only problem is that Gulden seems to have acquired Warner’s 2023 form.

Yeah, except people forget Blakey is what 196cm. Does that equate to 6’2?

News Flash, they have SMFC on the back of their jumper.

It is worth noting Sydney don’t have one more game at the MCG this home and away season and likely won’t play a final there except if they make the GF.

Footy Fix: How the Swans have turned their biggest weakness into another strength - and become all but unstoppable

But don’t fret, at the end of the GF the Swans will console themselves with an icy cold can of COLA.

Yes, 44k. You probably also believe India’s unemployment rate and China’s inflation rate as well. 44k = 10k Blues supporters + 14k Swan’s supporters + 20k people who say “why is there a red ball on the field”.
Oh, and 2007 Geelong was a least twice as good as 2022 Geelong and twice as willed on by a parochial crowd and parochial umpiring. On that metric Sydney lose by 170 plus points. A couple of Swan’s players still left from the 2014 capitulation, a few more from 2016 and a lot from 2022. That’s an enormous amount of mental baggage to carry out on to the ground. Add GF losers Adams and Grundy to the mix. They’re cooked before the thermometer even rises. Every team in the 8 at the moment has a pretty good recent record against the Swans except for Carlton. What people who don’t live in Sydney fail to realise is the Swans not under the microscope myth evaporates come finals time, especially GFs. Suddenly everyone who has never kicked a Sherrin is talking about the Swans. They are getting bugged when they get a coffee and everyone is suddenly their friend. It is 0 to 100 in 1 second. Hence even in their wins 2005 and 2012 they barely limped over the line. The Swans carry more GF baggage than any team in the competition by a long margin. McClelland trophy, tick, GF appearance, most likely tick.

The best thing about watching the Swans win is knowing that even Port would flog them in a GF on the MCG.

War chests are a double edged sword. North had a war chest a few years back with Brad Scott and it certainly helped a team to the top of the ladder. The only problem for North fans was that team was Port Adelaide.

With or without Weitering, the Saints need to splurge to stay relevant. Here's who they should chase

You beat me to it. 41 points in the game. Probably literally kicked as behinds. An historian will look back in 50 years time assuming the game was a mud bath only to be astonished it was played under a roof.

Footy Fix: If there's such a thing as a meaningless 64-point win over a top-two team... the Suns just found it

41 goals in a game is surely the most this year and will take some beating. Though hang on, hang on a minute … there is quite possibly a match up this weekend that could challenge the 41 goals …Freo vs Saints!

It would have an impact. Anyway I am following Union now, I don’t see a point following a sport that is so subjectively and arbitrarily administered. Imagine traffic infringements where there were no set fines and the amount decided by some traffic Overlord and the fine correlated to where people live? Occupied West Bank perhaps? I have lived in Sydney for 30 years and Aussie Rules has not grown in that time. It is on no pub or club TVs. I live near one of the oldest Aussie Rules clubs in Sydney. It has 10 TVs and none of them show Aussie Rules. One of my friends works as a lawyer at a large law firm. They were offered free GWS memberships. She declined, saying to me, “I don’t even know what GWS is”. No inroads. No hope of becoming international. Will die a slow death on pay tv in the suburbs of Melbourne.

AFL News: 'No credibility' - Freo slam ex-ump's 'spoilt brat' whack at Clark, Dees to challenge Pickett ban

It sounds like the IDF, other people have to pay for their sins. Clarkson wasn’t punished enough, so Finlayson has to pay as a scapegoat. In the final analysis the AFL is an incredibly biased and poorly administered sport and I am over it. Nothing will change, it is all the same people coming through the ranks. 50 years as a supporter, I am following Union now. Aussie Rules is a good sport, but it is the most unfairly administered code of football.

AFL News: 'No credibility' - Freo slam ex-ump's 'spoilt brat' whack at Clark, Dees to challenge Pickett ban

It is obvious from the AFL’s statements that the penalty for Finlayson is going to be extreme compared to the Clarkson ban. There is a simple response for this from Port fans. Cancel any Kayo or Foxtel subscriptions. If you are doing a Neilsen survey, don’t register any AFL games for ratings. Do not attend any neutral games and do not attend the Crow’s home showdown. Pass the protest word around.

I agree though 6 weeks was too harsh for Walker, particularly relative to Clarko’s punishment and given Clarko’s form.

He was a Roosters player from what I remember.

The other thing I find about this is the lack of empathy. His wife has stage 4 cancer. Would you rather that, or someone call you a nasty name? An immense loss of perspective in the World.

It was actually specifically about a person. It suggested that a person, because of their race, should be easier to beat. It was incredibly demeaning.

Though, then again, this is probably the mysterious “Edge” we keep hearing about.

Tex was different because it was a racial slur against a specific person’s known race and it wasn’t said in the heat of the moment. Most swear phrases are racist, homophobic or sexist either directly or in connotation. A lot of people use them without thinking about the connotations. It really depends on what was said, the context and why it was directed at the particular person.

I fear you’re right. The AFL loves making an example, especially when PA are involved.

It was obviously touched by Aish, but in real time it is hard to tell. It was never going to be reversed so Freo players should have got on with the game. Should the dissent have been paid? It was technically there but should have not been paid. Very similar to the Cognilio decision last year. Ultimately Freo lack the ability to go up a gear and kick quick goals like Dees and Pies. They also don’t do enough damage when on top of the game.

Footy Fix: No, the umpires didn't gift Carlton the game - but Freo sure did

If he had a Carlton jumper they would be giving him a free kick!
