Faulkner is our no.1 all rounder , if he can’t we should include an extra bowler/batsman , just shouldn’t pick bits and pieces all rounders for the sake of filling the spot.

Lay off our batsmen, Australia's bowlers lost the third Test

Faulkner anyday is a greater all rounder than Marsh is. If they are to persist with Marsh they may as well pick Faulkner. Faulkner has that fighting spirit when everyone else fails and has batted us out multiple times and will do so in the future.
Marsh is hopeless against the swinging ball, how about not playing a all rounder at all ? Teams succeed without one so did we.
I agree on Clarke, he hasn’t used Lyon well.
Starc’s 5-fer at lords costed him 114 runs. He is playing the Johnson role, i don’t think we can afford two such bowlers.
Hazlewood is a star for the future, not yet a ‘leader of the attack’.
Batsmen failed but the way the ball was swinging we could have had England all out for about 100 – 150. Which we did not. Batsmen are to be blamed but the bowling cannot go unnoticed too. England got us out cheaply due to the massive change in conditions from lords.

Can’t defend for long, lack of patience and off stump awareness. He is not a test material for now. Can score a handy 25-30 ball 45-50 when the team is at 450-4 but will not be able to come out and play 20 overs like Nevill did the other day. Marsh should be sent to bat behind Nevill.

Starc has been bowling short and wide when the need was to keep it tighter, he’s done so even at lords. Johnson came back well after a poor show in the first test and has kept it quite. Although he won’t be dropped , but a win is imperative to retain the ashes. We need someone experienced with is Siddle, he can keep it tighter and support Johnson. If Johnson fails at trentbridge he can be dropped for starc. Johnson bowled a deadly spell to bring us back while the runs continued to flow from Hazlewood and Starc. England went to plan b and defended Johnson. Johnson had to be over bowled to contain runs and he lost his steam eventually. I am not criticizing Hazlewood individually, but his job is to contain runs and i feel if he is able to keep it at around 2.5-3 rpo he will allow Lyon and Johnson to attack more.

The bowling (particularly this attack) has fired when the batsmen gave them 400-500 scores. England could easily have been knocked over for something in the 100-150 range in their first innings, Starc and Hazlewood combined to leak 25 boundaries which is unacceptable. Yes Hazlewood is the leading wicket taker but his duty is to keep it tight, he is leaking at least 1 boundary per over.

Starc is top class in limited over cricket and this sadly is not the case in test cricket. Faulkner made his only List A century in International cricket and not in Ryobi. Reckon it has something to do with his batting spot.

Or getting his Avg (Against us) below 39 😉

Anderson plans to sledge Aussie in Ashes

Unfortunately our best leggie (Zampa) wasn’t even part of the A team thanks to over the moon hyped Fawad. Just because he hails from SC and the fact the he is a leggie doesn’t makes Fawad a deadly spinner. If he is half as good as hyped , then he would have played more than just the 10 fc games.

Will Ahmed be our Ashes savior?

SADLY ? You still believe fawad can do the job for us ? Mate lyon took more wickets and bowled much tighter than fawad. If you are writing this comment despite analyzing the AusA scorecards then huh…

Will Ahmed be our Ashes savior?

Get over the baseless hype the surrounds ahmad guys. I see clueless bloggers write trash about lyon each day. Few call lyon a seamer and few say he has never spun the ball. The AusA tours have given a good reality check , Lyon with his Seamers/Non-spinners has managed more wickets at better economy than fawad with his square turners. Lyon remains our best spinner , tough to swallow but yeah . Agar is getting better , the last thing i would do is hand him a baggy green at this moment. He needs another Shield and more AusA tours.

Will Ahmed be our Ashes savior?

We blame T20 for destroying our cricket. But our T20 ranking remains on the wrong side of 5th position. Well i think CA needs to raise the salaries of Top contract holders and offer the top contract to players who do well in Test cricket.

Blame Twenty20 for the demise of Australian cricket

Seriously ? You are still onto Lyon ? From what happened in Ireland , Fawad is clearly behind agar and O’ keefe in the que.

Did Bailey run himself out of the Ashes?

I really thought your would mention Bailey and Voges in there. The last thing our team needs is a bowler. We have plenty of guns. The need of the hour is a decent batsman

Three players that should be in England for The Ashes

If fawad strings few good performances the whole nation will be calling for lyon’s head. In unfriendly conditions the competition thing doesn’t works. He needs great amount of security heading in. If not for wade he would have had a 10-fer and few more wickets. Again, who was the last Australian to pick a 10 wicket haul ? Dhoni made 200 , he would have been held under 100 by lyon if not for wade. Surprisingly with a batting avg of <25 and <40 in ODI and Tests respectively, Wade has gone under the radar. Not that he keeps well.

In defence of Nathan Lyon

Imagine the fate of ministers who fighted it out should fawad fail while representing AusA. Will they reverse the decision ?

This fast-tracking of Ahmed is a concern

Finally someone who writes something worth a read. Lyon is developing and getting better , clarke has played a major hand as well. Fawad after playing in spin friendly conditions had an average of 34 which clearly tells a story. He is no warne and may end up destroying any chances we have of winning the ashes. I’d have considered him if he had some county experience. Fast tracking fawad will actually kill the confidence of guys like zampa and agar. But wait , we see warne in fawad. There will be no 2nd warne.

In defence of Nathan Lyon

Field ? What wrong has lyon done in the field ? If you watch his spells in India and draft out a timeline you will realize he slowed it down and bowled from closer to the stumps and bagged a 9-fer. Fawad might be good but the fact remains that he has absolutely no experience at International Level.

Why does Nathan Lyon get no respect?

Yes the 4th innings performance is a worry the only time i remember him doing well in fourth innings is at WACA vs India. In India he absolutely had no chance thanks to lack of runs from our bats. Lyon was picked due to the control he had and was a good thing to do rather than going with averages. People have to realize that there won’t be no 2nd warne.

Why does Nathan Lyon get no respect?

Agreed mate , But if you look at all his spells in Sri Lanka and India , lyon was turning the ball and in the 4th test where he picked 9 wickets he slowed it down. I have watched Fawad in shield this year , too many half trackers , wasn’t turning it much. And we forgot the stumping chance wade missed off him in the 1st test , would have had dhoni < 100 .
