Breaking news: BCCI has engaged consultants from the New York Yacht Club to help draft new playing conditions that will ensure the cup will be won by the most deserving contender. Whoever that may be.

'Doesn't understand the game': Stokes rejects criticism of key call, names biggest regret

I respectfully disagree, Stuckbetweenindopak. The rules state when the ball is dead, either between balls or at the end of an over. It’s not dead because JB decides it’s dead or thinks or guesses it’s dead. You can see that he doesn’t even wait to check if the umpires have called over and doesn’t bother looking behind to see if the ball is live.

'Bloody oath I would': Head accuses bleating Bairstow of blatant hypocrisy over Ashes flashpoint

Oh yes, the “line” that we were always nearly but never quite crossing, but the other side definitely crossed at some point… 🤢

They should erect a wire fence between the toffs and where the players walk past, so the members understand that they’re really like football yobs in clown jackets.

'Worst thing I’ve ever seen in cricket': Broad, McCullum whinge about Bairstow drama but McDonald returns serve

Sorry Roarers, I was just getting fed up with the UK fringe media types leading off with. “While it may have been technically out…”

'I wasn't just going to stand by and cop it': Khawaja fumes over Lord's abuse as MCC suspends loud-mouthed members

Can’t wait for the next Test to start so that fine publications such as the Daily Mail and the Sun and their Aussie equivalents have some more actual cricket to misreport. It’s like watching someone trying to pump up a stabbed footy. The cricketers have moved on.

The spirit of cricket was murdered in cold blood by sunburnt thugs - and the game might never recover

This has been a Test match for finding out about obscure rule changes, but when did “technically out” become a new class of dismissal?

'I wasn't just going to stand by and cop it': Khawaja fumes over Lord's abuse as MCC suspends loud-mouthed members

Not so! In 30 years of club cricket I never witnessed a cricketer losing his temper in the dressing room like that. The most shocking incident was when one of our own blokes ran out the skipper for 99 and we lost the GF by one run. A young fellow frowned and said, “Gosh, that’s disappointing.” 😱

Of course the senior players said things like “Hey now” and “Steady on” and the youngster realised his mistake, apologised and had a sip of his glass of milk.

Post-sandpaper, I thought we were in for a 5-10 year Dark Ages.

Justin Langer resigns as Test coach with immediate effect, camp blames 'faceless few,' CA reacts

I’d be ashamed if that corporate robot crap ever came out of my mouth. It’s like chewing on a burger made of sawdust and cardboard.

CA and other sports businesses prefer franchises. Much easier to spin up, shut down, control, relocate. They need clubs to develop talented juniors but once the kids are old enough to start working in the money factory, bye bye club.

'It bores me, so I don't know how anyone else can watch it': England star's staggering take on women's cricket

Chris Silverwood for Australian of the Year!

Australia can take some lessons from England’s Ashes campaign

Past Aussie teams have been far from perfect when it comes to on-field behaviour, but this is one area where I think we’re pretty clean. I can hardly think of an Aussie player showing contempt or anger at a teammate’s error, whereas it’s a regular feature of England and some other teams.

Australia can take some lessons from England’s Ashes campaign

It’s surprising that when they were told they had to go no-one asked for the decision to be reviewed.

'Time for bed': ECB to investigate Root and Anderson drinking session with Aussie stars

Taken at face value it does make the England dressing room and management sound like a shambles, and maybe there’s a lot in that. But the selective quoting and lack of context suggest the article is a classic beat-up.

Drinking culture, fat shaming and a tactical disaster: England's Ashes nightmare revealed

My understanding is that touring teams (including us) aren’t fussed about practice matches and would much rather have shorter tours and more days off between Tests.

And of course CA would hate to jeopardise the financial integrity of our premiere domestic competition by letting BBL players turn out for an Aus A or PM’s XI match.

Drinking culture, fat shaming and a tactical disaster: England's Ashes nightmare revealed

Touring teams, especially unsuccessful ones, very often complain about the scheduling and tour conditions after things go bad for them. It would be great to hear this at the press conference when they arrive, before the cricket starts.

Don’t like something in the tour conditions? What did you propose and what was CA’s response? Wish you had some competitive games before and between the Tests? What did you ask for and what was CA’s response?

DAY 3 REPORT: Golden boy Green shines as Australia crush England to complete Ashes thumping

There’s always something to play for. Form… team pride… individual pride… if nothing else, sheer bloody-mindedness to force the opposition to come back the next day…

REACTION: 'Embarrassing' and 'gutless' - former England skippers skewer Poms for 'throwing in the towel' in abject defeat

I hope I never see an Australian team finish off an Ashes series like that. They looked like they couldn’t wait to get to the airport lounge.
