You are just being cheeky Dutski. You know even Matty Johns exposed that the chooks were conservatively $4.5 mill over the salary cap in 2013. Already with a team filled with international rep talent and with negligible loss the chooks bought a premiership after signing THREE marquee players, SBW, Michael Jennings and James Maloney in the 2013 pre-season.

If the Bunnies hadn’t clocked off early after taking an early lead in the Preliminary final against Manly the Bunnies would have plucked the chooks in 2013.

We’ve been over this mate. You’re winding me up aren’t you? Don’t start me Dutski! DON’T start me! 😂

Karmichael Hunt set for shock Broncos return

No, I’m a Rabbitohs fan and don’t live anywhere near the insular peninsula Pete. Most people here get me. If you don’t, then believe me, I won’t lose any sleep over it.

Karmichael Hunt set for shock Broncos return

The NRL doesn’t need Rugby Union has-beens who sold out League to play Union. Players like Hunt, who along with Folau also went to AFL and have been tarnished now by two different codes and won’t know whether to catch, kick, strip or bounce the ball aren’t worth the investment. They also don’t deserve to rob players of a place who have remained loyal to this code. Just like SBW who also was a complete failure on his return, they aren’t needed and will not give value for money.

I will make an allowance for Sam Burgess and Benji Marshall though who only played RU for 1 year (unsuccessfully) and Benji only played 6 games in any case. So there wasn’t time for them to be infected by the code that Rugby League improved upon.

Benji got punted by the Tigers. He is on less money at the Rabbitohs than he earned anywhere else in his career.

Is it ever okay to boo your footy team?

The first paragraph was a joke steveng. The second paragraph was more where I am at. As you say the Tigers always lift for Souths. For Madge this is his version of Bennett getting the boys to lift for the Broncos. Never underestimate the revenge factor.

Souths not only need to start well but to go on with it. They can’t expect to coast to the finish like they did against the Dogs. If they are in a ruthless mood his could be an opportunity to really boost their points differential and position on the ladder.

Go Bunnies!

The Roar’s NRL expert tips and predictions: Round 6

Speaking of predictions…

“Privately I’m hearing talk that both the talented Rabbitohs halves Blake Taafe and Lachlan Ilias have been told to prepare for life after Reynolds and a step up in 2022. That was very much in the sense of “be prepared” not a confirmation of this is happening. And this was from a partner of one of the 3 players effected as related to a close family member of mine.”

Bunnies to lock in Reynolds’ replacements

The Rabbitohs are set to sign two young guns as they plan for life after Adam Reynolds… South Sydney are preparing for life without Adam Reynolds as they move to lock in two young halves who are considered the future of the club.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports, the Rabbitohs are set to re-sign Lachlan Ilias and Blake Taaffe until the end of 2023.

https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-premiership/nrl-2021-transfer-whispers-south-sydney-rabbitohs-adam-reynolds-contract-halves-resigning-lachlan-ilias-blake-taaffe/news-story/4c074209c8f40e8d08461643c555708c

It is looking less and less likely that Reynolds will remain at Redfern. A prospect that makes me feel physically ill.

“Aaahhh. The good old days”

When the Dragons used to beat the Rabbitohs? Or before the Charity Shield and Souths 9 straight Charity Shield victories? 😂 😂 😂

Oh, and which was the club that bookended the Dragons winning streak of premierships? More importantly what club ended the Dragons winning premiership streak? Hint: Glory! Glory! 😂

You can’t hate the Panthers just because they’re good

Well, Myles never repeated that stunt he pulled at the Crowne Plaza hotel again after that. He learned to use a toilet like the rest of us. As far as a Disney reference goes that was more Winnie the Pooh.

In any case, Gallen certainly had an influence on getting Nasty Nate to behave himself. 😂

You’re making me nostalgic Tony. I’m getting sentimental. Don’t start me Tony! DON’T start me! 😛

You can’t hate the Panthers just because they’re good

I prefer to rely on memory DK. It allows certain liberties in the retelling. Little embellishments that enhance the story.

Think of the Mona Lisa, hardly photorealism now is it? It conveys much more than the impersonality of a photograph. It conveys the mood and idea being expressed rather than the facts which can often be misleading. Same thing here. 😛 😂

You can’t hate the Panthers just because they’re good

That is exactly why that sort of niggly laughing in your face never happened in the good old days when pests would have been carried off for stepping over the line.

I remember when I was really young seeing a teenage Steve Rogers mouth off too Newtown’s Brian “Chicka” Moore as Rogers was playing the ball. “Chicka” showed Rogers the fastest way to the ground. When his teammates complained to the referee the refs said; “He asked for it”.

It was a different time but things were simpler then. I don’t remember ever seeing a player laugh in another player’s face disparagingly, patting a player on the back for making a mistake and laugh in their face or pulling a player from the other team into a celebratory huddle to mock an embarrass them.

But then that was before State of Origin and QLDers using niggling tactics to win penalties and dominate possession.

“Melbin… cuz… co boonta”

You’re speaking in code son. I need the cipher key just to understand the message. 😂

You can’t hate the Panthers just because they’re good

He sure changed Nate Myles’ bad habits in a flash matth. 😁

You can’t hate the Panthers just because they’re good

For taking the bait. Not for niggling Nat. 😛

You can’t hate the Panthers just because they’re good

The Bunnies will. 👍

Panthers have 'belief' not 'arrogance': Cleary

“we get a little bit niggle toward our boys”

Ivan is kidding himself. Remove the blinkers Ivan. From what I could see the niggle was oneway traffic from the Panthers to the Raiders.

I counted at least 3 separate instances that the Panthers went out of their way to niggle, showboat and provoke the Raiders. The worst of which was Stephen Crichton dragging an unwilling Joseph Tapine into a Panthers celebratory huddle where he was mocked and had to face a wall of Cheshire Cat-like grins like the wall of mirrors at Luna Park.

Time to cut out the rubbish and the niggle Panthers or #BringBackTheBiff to sort that kind of punk behaviour out.

Panthers have 'belief' not 'arrogance': Cleary

“South Sydney while romp home against the Rabbitohs”

I think he means Souths will be that dominant it will feel like there is only one team on the field. 😂 😂 😂

Personally, I will reserve judgement on the Tigers given last week’s example of what happens when complacency meets a team that lifts. The Eels fans will no understand that sentiment.

The Roar’s NRL expert tips and predictions: Round 6

It isn’t a question of hating the Panthers just because they’re good Tim. It’s disapproving of the juvenile tactics to bait and niggle the opposition that is contrary to the modern spirit of the game.

That line was drawn in the sand by Paul Gallen in Origin when he dropped Nat Myles after first giving him the warning no more niggle, no more legs twists or hands in the face etc.

I have had nothing but praise for the Panthers and even tipped them to win the minor premiership just ahead of the Rabbitohs and the Storm. The fact is they are a fit, talented, confident young side and are easily able to dominate most NRL sides without resorting to these unnecessary negative tactics. It just isn’t needed. It is a bad look for the game and it only encourages young players to do likewise.

You can’t hate the Panthers just because they’re good

So you agree with me then? It would be the death of professional Rugby League in Australia and all the elite athletes who depend on sport for their living would abandon Rugby League which would be on the level of park football.

I don’t think you will find anyone on the ROAR posting comments about amateur Rugby League. So you have helped me to prove my point. 👍

Is it ever okay to boo your footy team?

As most players these days play for the love of money rather than for the love of the game I doubt there would be enough players left to field half the sides in the NRL.

If there were no fans left then what is the incentive for clubs, players and media to cover or be involved in the sport?

Is it ever okay to boo your footy team?

“want let me”? Won’t let me. That had to be AC surely? 😱

NRL Round 6 teams: Trbojevic returns, Milford dumped

You know mate, I read your post and I remember reading that then my funny bone took over and all that went out the window. But then you know me by now.

I haven’t had the opportunity to go to Bankwest stadium. I moved out of Sydney before it was built. Now I am in Brisbane and tp date I haven’t been to Suncorp stadium either. I’m looking forward to going to Suncorp stadium for Magic Round, covid-19 permitting.

I also hold off posting until the Rabbitohs have a comfortable lead. No matter who they are playing I am nervous until the boys look comfortable and are out of 2nd gear.

Is it ever okay to boo your footy team?

And “the elephant in the room” award goes too… [opens envelope] Anthony Seibold! 😂

Is it ever okay to boo your footy team?

As low as the NRL’s administrative standards are jimmmy they would have to lower them even further before I would qualify. 😛

But book me in for the committee to review and overhaul the NRL play rules at the end of the season. 👍

"Do it for the right reasons": Abdo says NRL won't force expansion

But we live in a cotton wool age where heaven forbid we hurt their feelings. How dare we expect them to give us what we advertised and what we paid to see. Our feelings and our finances don’t matter. They are artists or athletes and deserve special consideration. Or at least I guess that’s the argument that cancel culturists like Paul are advocating when he says; “booing is abuse”.
