How about a stand alone Oz comp at the state/territory level, before the SR comp begins? Given the crowd numbers at the SR Australia games ( during/post covid?) it would certainly arouse local ( and sponsor) interest.

CONFIRMED: Rebels fall into voluntary administration as Rugby Australia seeks 'sustainable and successful future'

Only because he was playing prior with the Broncos. The big money came from the Tahs.

Exclusive: Wallabies star to return to Waratahs in fresh blow to Rebels

Arrrgh, so RA’s centralised model means bringing all those on Wallaby top-ups, back to the Tahs? Tupou will be next?

Exclusive: Wallabies star to return to Waratahs in fresh blow to Rebels

Hooper was way out of his depth and as a consequence never really reached his potential. Was appointed because of a deal between the then ARU and the Tahs. Actually it sets the scene for what is happening now!

One of his first jobs was to support Beale in bringing down Ewen MacKenzie! What a pathetic act!

Why am I not surprised.

Ex-Wallabies skipper to miss Perth Sevens in 'disappointing' setback

Rugby is a professional game and life is too short . If one wants to fly with the eagles, then you don’t work with turkeys! ( and I’m not saying that turkeys can’t fly!)))

Not hard to see why Eddie quit rugby in Oz!

And I don’t know what all the controversy is about: does not Eddie’s partner live in Japan?

Eddie Jones set to be appointed Japan coach six weeks after walking out on Wallabies

RA needs to select the best players for the Wallabies from the worldwide pool.

This is what professionalism means!! RA are currently half pregnant between the professional and amateur eras, and haven’t accepted full professionalism!

Exclusive: Rising Wallabies hardman set to leave Australian rugby in warning sign for RA

That now known as RA, needs to realises that Rugby in the rest of the world is a professional game. Players need to sell their product in the market and achieve the best returns the market will bear. Punitive measures such as trying to hogtie players to Australian Super Rugby teams for eligibility to play for the Wallabies has to go. (Hence no need for the Gitau rule).
South Africa, Fiji and Argentina shows this system works. A funding and selection arrangement similar to that used by Football Australia for the Matildas ( and the SoccerRoos?) needs to be implemented with a fee payable when selected for the Wallaby Squad, followed by a game fee then a bonus for winning.
All payments from RA to either the SR franchises or the Unions should be on an equitable basis. Our best players will be remunerated by playing overseas and pathways, hence competition will be opened up for the SR teams. At least we will build depth!
Heard Dan interviewed on local ABC radio this afternoon and I’m afraid he has already sipped the NSWRU/Tahs/MoorePark kool aid

While I have no idea how centralisation works in Ireland. I was fortunate ro see a couple of the Irish -All Blacks tests in 22. Ireland were a machine playing with precision, execution was fast and cohesive, and their defence was rock solid. From memory they took the series 2:1.

'What a shame': McLennan GONE as Rugby Australia name World Cup-winner chairman to bookend wild year

Tribalism is a good thing. Fully agree with you Paddy!

It’s time to re-emphasise the ‘NSW’ in the NSW Waratahs

Depends what is meant by “centralisation” ? Common pathways, for players, alignment of coaches, equity of opportunity for SR franchises, players, coaches and referees – Yes!

Centralisation of assets, sweet-heart deals (e.g. wallaby top ups) to bolster a franchise’s player pool, blatant subsidisation of favoured franchises, and a commercial return at the expense of grassroots involvement – No!

I do hope Dan and Phil can work it out.

'What a shame': McLennan GONE as Rugby Australia name World Cup-winner chairman to bookend wild year

BB, no mention how Hamish’s centralised RA will utilise the commercial assets of Mary Kathleen Rugby Union and the four teams that play in that comp? Not sure the Organizer of the chook raffle would appreciate RA spending the weekly proceeds to poach yet another league-player to play for the Tahs, Force or Rebels?
Maybe a better idea would be that RA takes ownership of the sports club, then leases it back to MKU, with the weekly rent paying for a coffee machine at Moore Park?
Come to think of it, if RA own the assets, the local farmer who has been maintaining the MKU oval wouldn’t mind a contribution towards his costs as well. Just a thought.

'Oh, what a tangled web': The need to unravel the rugby centralisation conundrum Down Under

Qld players get punished already. !

What Hamish and his supporters don’t realise is that RA needs the State and Territory Unions moreso than the Unions need RA

So Twiggy will be OK wi5h handing over the Force franchise to Hamish (especially given RA’s performance over the last year?)

Totally agree with your comment re John Eales. Forever tainted!

The only way is up, baby - What the next Wallabies coaching setup should look like

LP, while I do agree that the usefulness and value of league converts to union is questionable, some have had an impact. And would totally agree that changing jobs and not having to relocate is a bonus! But ….

Lote Tuqiri, Matt Rogers, Izzy Folau , Wendell Sailor were all Queensland-reared, league players ( +/- AFL) who ended up playing for the Tahs and Wallabies. ( No doubt assisted by Wallaby top-ups).

From memory Tuqiri, Sailor and Folau all relocated to Sydney to play with the Tahs. Rogers, was already in Sydney, spent about 5 years with the Tahs, before returning to Qld ( and league) to join the Titans (~2005?)

My point is that historically, there has been an unholy alliance between the NSWRU and the ARU to stack the Tahs with elite league converts, so every future such move has to be scrutinized and questioned!

'Right people in right roles': QRU break silence on RA's reform hopes, back review into Wallabies' RWC flop

Grumpy. “ Just as well it’s The Game They Play In Heaven?”

Well it was till we kicked Izzy out and sought approval on social media services for wokish views.

'Right people in right roles': QRU break silence on RA's reform hopes, back review into Wallabies' RWC flop

OL, for years/ decades, the Wallaby top-ops and positioning of League converts has favoured the Tahs! (Even when the poached players were originally from Qld). I’m not aware of any dollars that have flowed from the ARU/RA to the QRU that have not flowed to the other Unions. ( and this is supposedly for administration, not player development!)

'Right people in right roles': QRU break silence on RA's reform hopes, back review into Wallabies' RWC flop

So true ECA!

'Right people in right roles': QRU break silence on RA's reform hopes, back review into Wallabies' RWC flop

LP, but that is when the bias ( or perceived biases) sets in. For years most of the Wallaby top ups and poached NRL players have disproportionately favoured and financially benefitted the Tahs.

( Not that it helped them much)

'Right people in right roles': QRU break silence on RA's reform hopes, back review into Wallabies' RWC flop

Agreed SDRF. Our “elite “ players are really anything but. Too soft, lack skills, certainly lack the ability to part of cohesive play and generally lack rugby nous and fitness. All from an obvious lack of game time at higher levels.
And I like your proposal, LuckyPhil

'Right people in right roles': QRU break silence on RA's reform hopes, back review into Wallabies' RWC flop

Nah, Izzy cost Raelene her job!

'Right people in right roles': QRU break silence on RA's reform hopes, back review into Wallabies' RWC flop

The Tahs and RA ( ARU) have been in bed together for decades! What’s different now ?
.
At least they have put this relationship in the open. Something they have previously glossed over. But honestly, what difference will it make? Apart from biasing Wallaby top-ups to Tahs players, and the placement of “elite” (??, sic) union converts into the Tahs! (Things that have happened in the past anyway!). Transparency and equity were always sadly lacking!
..
Until we get the grassroots and pathways sorted, the Wallabies, and the Super Rugby franchises will be fighting over talent and limited commercial opportunities.
.
To tell you the truth , I’d rather watch club rugby in Brisbane, anyhow!

'Bold step': NSW Rugby confirms RA alignment in bid to rid game of 'conflicts and self interest'

Insist that RA moves its headquarters to Adelaide and ensure that every State Union, gets equal representation on the renamed ARU Board

QRU’s centralisation poison - denial and delusion that fails the pub test

And maybe a clean out of that now called RA should occur as well!

SPIRO ZAVOS: Eddie Jones' coaching flaw is his belief that rugby is the same game as league

W Evans,
Firstly, I do agree with most of your comments. There has been over 20 yeas of neglect, with administrators treating the game once played in heaven as an instrument for the manipulation of the sport for their own, club, or “state” benefit, and not for the benefit of Rugby at the national level. And yes, neither Eddie nor Hamish are responsible for the issues that currently plague Union in Australia. Both are symptoms of the malaise that has plagued Union since federation.
The latest issues began when the ARU entered the professional era with a Constitution based on amateurism and assumed almost colonial privilege afforded to NSWRU ( 5 votes at Board level) and to a lesser extent the QRU ( with 3 votes), who were bitter rivals.
Would urge all to read the history of that now called Rugby Australia to understand the situation. https://australia.rugby/about/about-us/history With RA sharing the same locale as the NSWRU,/Tahs , the travesty continues, (salary top-ups, placement of poached NRL players, location of test games) despite RA’s constitution being upgraded 2009-2012?.
Secondly, have no animosity towards the Western Force, but I will forever hold it against them for decimating the Reds during their formative years thanks to Nathan Sharpe (Reds traitor) , who orchestrated the formation of a Reds B team based in Perth, whom , if my memory holds, even beat the Reds in Perth, with such a headline appearing in the Courier Mail!
Thirdly, I am a Wally, which is an affectionate name used amongst those of us with the lymphoma called Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia . While I’m against your use of the word, I agree totally with the sentiment you wished to have express.

Rugby's self-interested 'vandals' need to get out of the way if Australia wants to climb from these depths
