And maybe a clean out of that now called RA should occur as well!

SPIRO ZAVOS: Eddie Jones' coaching flaw is his belief that rugby is the same game as league

W Evans,
Firstly, I do agree with most of your comments. There has been over 20 yeas of neglect, with administrators treating the game once played in heaven as an instrument for the manipulation of the sport for their own, club, or “state” benefit, and not for the benefit of Rugby at the national level. And yes, neither Eddie nor Hamish are responsible for the issues that currently plague Union in Australia. Both are symptoms of the malaise that has plagued Union since federation.
The latest issues began when the ARU entered the professional era with a Constitution based on amateurism and assumed almost colonial privilege afforded to NSWRU ( 5 votes at Board level) and to a lesser extent the QRU ( with 3 votes), who were bitter rivals.
Would urge all to read the history of that now called Rugby Australia to understand the situation. https://australia.rugby/about/about-us/history With RA sharing the same locale as the NSWRU,/Tahs , the travesty continues, (salary top-ups, placement of poached NRL players, location of test games) despite RA’s constitution being upgraded 2009-2012?.
Secondly, have no animosity towards the Western Force, but I will forever hold it against them for decimating the Reds during their formative years thanks to Nathan Sharpe (Reds traitor) , who orchestrated the formation of a Reds B team based in Perth, whom , if my memory holds, even beat the Reds in Perth, with such a headline appearing in the Courier Mail!
Thirdly, I am a Wally, which is an affectionate name used amongst those of us with the lymphoma called Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia . While I’m against your use of the word, I agree totally with the sentiment you wished to have express.

Rugby's self-interested 'vandals' need to get out of the way if Australia wants to climb from these depths

Agreed, some “names” even looked disinterested! I have seen high school teams playing with more commitment,

'Complete dismantling': Eddie apologises for World Cup debacle, Hoops calls out moment that summed it up

Eddie, eat some humble pie and get on the phone to Quade now. If for nothing else he may be able to give Carter some kicking tips.

'Results haven’t been good': Wallabies head into World Cup winless after being humbled by France

Just goes to show, the woke won’t inherit the Earth!

Had the privilege of watching a cohesive, well-oiled Ireland beat the ABs (last year?}. They were technically precise and brutally aggressive. Under the rein of the current crew at Moore Park and their culture, I cannot see our Wobblies ever achieving that level of maturity!

All Blacks smash Wallabies to seal Bledisloe AGAIN as Eddie's pain grows after devastating injury to star prop

And I’m afraid it looks like he still will be! Possibly linked directly/indirectly to the downfall of three coaches and now on his fourth?

The town planner who can fix Australian rugby: Wallabies great who RA, Eddie must hope will take key role

That is the professional era! Just look at coaches!

Ex-All Blacks World Cup winner could still earn Wallabies call-up by Eddie, Australia A to play Portugal in Paris

Oz rugby has been abysmal since the exit of Ewen MacKenzie. The players that remained were either handcuffed, were eternal optimists or still amateurs at heart!

And this has not been good for Australian Rugby!

Ex-All Blacks World Cup winner could still earn Wallabies call-up by Eddie, Australia A to play Portugal in Paris

EJ needs every skilled player he can muster! I would hope Kerr-Barlow is in the mix!

Ex-All Blacks World Cup winner could still earn Wallabies call-up by Eddie, Australia A to play Portugal in Paris

I do feel sorry for Eddie, but not half as sorry as I feel for those remaining rusted on supporters who still support this once great game.

That , now called Rugby Australia has a lot to answer for as they have as a group have killed Rugby in Oz. They can now dance of the grave of Rugby in Oz.

'Look out': Eddie puts All Blacks on notice despite 'broken car' Wallabies' loss to Argentina

Journos have lost interest! ( just like most Australians).

'Look out': Eddie puts All Blacks on notice despite 'broken car' Wallabies' loss to Argentina

Queensland remains a significant nursery for Union in Oz; however, the QRU can’t capture or build on it! The QRU lost the plot after Ewen McK.
Thorn began to turn things around; however, he had that unique ability that not only opened the door for talented players , he pushed them through it to the detriment of the Reds! ( and benefit of club Rugby both nationally and internationally) . Till now, developing and maintaining depth at the highest level was not a priority for either the QRU or Thorn; this has to change..
Les at least is a Queenslander, who hopefully knows the culture!

Richie, you just need to attract an AFL team to take up residence!

'Courage and desire': Heroic Brumbies deny Ardie to beat Hurricanes to set up semi-final showdown with Chiefs

Was a good game to watch, but a shame that no more than 9000 attended!

For comparison, some years back, I attended a “Hospital Cup” quarter final at South’s in Brisbane and the crowd exceeded 15,000. If I remember correctly, Souths ( with Quade Cooper) lost.

'Courage and desire': Heroic Brumbies deny Ardie to beat Hurricanes to set up semi-final showdown with Chiefs

The Reds can take away a lot from this game. Hope the team can stay together and an inspirational coach can be found for 24.

Well done Chiefs, all the best for the semi-finals.

Thorn's Super Rugby tenure OVER as Queensland go down in nailbiter to Chiefs

“ Why are we still in Super Rugby?”

Because teams losing is character building! And it lulls the Kiwis ( hopefully) into a false sense of security

Three strikes and we should be out: Why it's time for Australia to quit Super Rugby Pacific

A weekend that demonstrates the depth of talent we have across Australian Rugby!. How much thinner than “tally hoo”, can we get!! Hopefully, Eddie will stick around till the next WRC, as the cattle he has this time round will not be great, and things can only get better! Though Eddie is a magician , not sure he is capable of biological alchemy: turning a team of Brumbies into Wallabies?
However, can’t feel any remorse that our game “once played in heaven” has given Hooper the send off he deserves! He was promoted as a player and remunerated well beyond his capabilities by the NSW and their complicit Moore Park rugby gods, to the detriment of the overall health of Australian rugby ( and probably his own?). Hooper’s role in the downfall of Ewan Mackenzie was despicable, yet he sunk to even greater depths (arguably?) and showed how much of a team player he wasn’t, in the “ Folau affair”!!

'Embarrassed': Hooper's farewell falls flat as horrific Tahs smashed in momentum-killer ahead of quarter

Raised elbows and late tackles. NSW playing the man. Queensland playing the ball. Predictable outcome

ANALYSIS: Queensland's outside backs won them the game - because Brad Fittler does not learn

How stupid or ill-informed is that “brains trust” once called the ARU!

Current polling does suggest a slight victory for the Yes Voice cause; but polling can be wrong! Regardless, up to 50% of voters will be alienated whomever wins. Are RA stupid enough to think they can alienate some 50% of their ever-diminishing supporter base? Has RA thought through the consequences? Especially the outcome if the No case gets up? What’s to stop an indigenous person who feels aggrieved because their cause didn’t get up ( eg., Warren Mundine or Noel Pearson), blaming RA? ( one of these gentlemen will, or could!)

And this announcement on the same day that the “Folau” documentary is shown to re-kindle the feelings that RA are anti people of faith! Does RA have marketing folk who have the best interests of their organization at heart? Does the RA Board care, or even listen?

As RA seeks to streamline rugby in Oz at all levels ( possibly for reasons of economy and ease of administration?) , maybe they should consider renaming themselves lower-case “ra” in line with their desire to blend in with the other codes and their low-key, ambitions and expectations for that game once played in heaven!

Rugby News: Ex-PM says RA has succumbed to 'moral blackmail' after 'regrettable' Voice stance revealed

Sorry, off topic but…..
The proposal for a 5th NRL team for Queensland should be a red flag for both the QRU and the ARU(RA). Currently, Queensland has more union club players registered than League, so the ARU should do all in its power to maintain and promote the game, once played in heaven in Queensland. ( Union 72,000 vs League 65,000 registered players in Qld)
It is beyond belief that the ARU is considering moving Brisbane’s 2025 Wallabies-Lion’s test elsewhere. But given the close relationship between the NSWRU and the ARU/RA , nothing would surprise me! A sport forgets its nurseries at its peril!!

Rugby News: Anzac, Pacific XVs back on Lions agenda as Super sides on chopping block, RA to trial tackle height changes

Clearly then, our players need to play as cohesive teams more often! Players need more skills ( quite frankly I’ve seen schoolboy teams with better skills and cohesiveness) and our coaches obviously need more time with our players.

It's pasta joke! Rennie defends mass changes as discipline a killer again in first-ever loss to Italy

Hi Two Cents,

My second statement is not inconsistent with what you are saying about the disturbing trend towards committing penalties by Australian rugby sides.

The Wallabies are not in crisis, but rather on a journey

To me the current Wallabies journey started about 30 years , the problem is that they don’t know where they are going nor where they have been.

Too many Wallaby top-up contracts made for all the wrong reasons; too little support for grass roots . Too many SR coaches making wrong-headed decisions and over-coaching at SR and Wobblies level. Rugby “ nous” and natural talent are present at club level,, but what happens next ?

The “pathways” presented to aspiring talent in Oz, typically shows those players the “international door”!

The Wallabies are not in crisis, but rather on a journey

Well said Two Cents.

To me even the refs will penalise Australia first, because they know we are the team most likely to have offended! (Rightly or wrongly, because that is their expectation)

The Wallabies are not in crisis, but rather on a journey

No NorthKiwi,

The Bledisloe is gone from thr Australian perspective. The team not holding the Bled Cup needs to win both games in the Current format to take the Cup
