Always rated Leniu, super aggressive and brings heaps of energy. Basically young JWH, hopefully without as many yellow cards! He is going to be chomping at the bit to get out there. May has been super impressive as well. Full team Roosters is looking like a serious threat to the Panthers this year.

Round 10 Team Lists Late Mail: Souths pick two unknowns, Leniu, Herbie return, Storm duo out, Broncos' surprise half

Fa’alogo injured his knee against the Titans which is why he was taken off early in the 2nd half but it looks like he is recovered as he is named. Wishart is decent cover but Pezet/Hughes are the two kicking halves so looks like its going to be all run this weekend.

Burton has to be at 6 for NSW this year. Big body, great defense, running threat and a big boot. No contest. Hynes can be the util off the bench as he can play 3 of the 4 spine positions at a high level and can slot in the backline…although if Turbo is picked at center he can cover fullback. Hynes has also played in the middle off the bench for the Storm. Api if fit to play is an 80 minute player so no bench cover for him.

Five and a kick: An all-Dogs edge for NSW, Manly's predictable collapse and why Benji's old boys should know better

That’s true. He stacked on the kgs to play center but should be able to last a game and at least still knows all the plays. They also have a heap of centers ready to replace him and would be good to see some of them as they might actually be better at center than him.

Papenhuyzen confirms bad news but vows to return as Storm survive Titans rally after baffling Bunker call

Storm lucky to get away with this one. Have to say though the difference in attack from last year can be seen with Paps and Munsters tries. Sean Blore creates with offloads whereas last year we had Loeiro trucking it up and killing plays. Having both Paps and Fa’alogo injured in the same game is just really bad luck for the Storm. Went from having 2 gun fullbacks to none.

Papenhuyzen confirms bad news but vows to return as Storm survive Titans rally after baffling Bunker call

At the start of the season I was pretty happy with the Storms spine backups being able to handle injuries and Origin as we had Pezet , Wishart and Fa’alogo but now with injuries to Hughes, Paps, Pezet (season) and Fa’alogo its going to be a very tough ask going up against the top of the table Sharks who are playing awesome attacking footy.

I thought that Jojo Fifita strip call at the end was a bit iffy but can live with it…biased Storm fan though. 😁

NRL Round 9 Talking Points: Abuse of Kasey Badger is way out of line - on and off the field

I think the Storm answer to the lack of quality halfbacks was to create their own as both Cronk and Hughes were not actual halfbacks. The way they did it though is to maximise whatever skills they currently had and not try and box them into what most think a halfback should be. Cronk wa a very differnt halfback to Hughes. I think having some of the best players to ever play in other spine postions helped a lot though. As others have mentioned you need to have 1 or 2 experienced players in the other spine postions. I think for that reason Jonah Pezet is going to get a great halfback education with players like Munster/Hughes/Grant/Paps around him.

Luke, Lachlan and Lewis: If NRL clubs can't find 7s, it’s because they created a lost generation of halfbacks

With the number of specialist wingers Storm have in reserves I doubt Wishart will be playing wing this week. He got found out defensively last week on the wing spot and really is the best utility option off the bench Storm have. I hope they put in Sua Fa’alogo to play wing. He needs to get some first grade games this year.

Round 9 Team Lists Late Mail: Benji makes surprise call on Koroisau, Roosters trio OUT as Broncos sweat on Haas

Meaney got straight out beaten 1 on 1 again last night. That has happened with nearly every center he has faced this season. They need to try somebody else and let Paps take conversions.

Storm slaughter second-rate Souths as 'a myriad of errors' hammer the final nail into Demetriou's coaching coffin

To be fair nearly every centre that has played against Meaney has looked good. Not sure how long Bellamy can continue with the experiment of Meaney at centre if he doesn’t improve his defense.

Definiely hope to see Lazarus debut this year. He was one of the best forwards in the trials and a big body. Surprised they haven’t at least used him off the bench for the middle rotation. I guess Moeroa still ahead of him for now.

'Both were really clear': Roosters in a rage over ref's contentious calls as Storm win on the back of two dubious tries

With four giraffes out on the wings it was always going to be cross-field kick night tonight. 😂

'Both were really clear': Roosters in a rage over ref's contentious calls as Storm win on the back of two dubious tries

What the hell is with all these close games Storm!!?? It doesn’t matter where the oppostiion are on the ladder its always nail biting finishes. I’m running out of bl**dy nails with this team!
One thing Bellamy won’t be happy about is the frivolous use of the ball in good attacking position and sets. Doesn’t help that Harry Grant is one of the chief culprits. Some of his 50/50 plays are wasting good attacking ball. One thing I am happy about is the backrowers, Blore, Katoa and Joe Chan are good ball players and can pass although in Katoa’s case sometime a bit too much. This at least tests defences rather than the boring tuck the ball and run into defences Loeiro did last year.

The guy was lounging in reserve grade at the Tigers when he got picked up this year by the Storm and now scoring match winning tries. 😁

Bulldogs grab moral victory, but Melbourne take the two points as Storm overcome Foxx hat trick in comeback win

The Foxx always givens his all regardless of his jersey. Still love watching him play even when he’s scoring against the Storm. Being on the end of that lefts side Bulldog attack I have no doubt he will be getting a lot more tries this year.

Warbrick isn’t the problem…Meaney is. Both Kikau and Bronson were having a field day going through and past him which made Warbrick a lot more nervous and coming in to help. When you can’t trust your inside defense (for good reason) you’re more likely to bite in hard and having a good passer like Burton with a great finisher like JAC it was always going to end in tries. Even Hughes was doing a better job defending Kikau than Meaney….at least putting his body on the line and getting trampled over slowed him down enought for the defense to get there. Kikau just brushed past Meaney effortlessly. Time to try another center.

O’Brien should have taken Ponga off to get needled and put Phoenix Crossland in (instead of saving him for the last 10 mins) so he shouldn’t be saying too much to his players. Ponga was the one to make the tackle and couldn’t get back up to be at marker allowing Smith to take off in the first place.

'Embarrassing': Joey fumes over Knights keeping injured Ponga on the park as Roosters rally to win nail-biter

Especially when they had Phoenix Crossland on the bench who they then only brought in for the last 10 mins. I think the coaching team should take a lot of blame for that loss for their interchanges last night.

How are the Bulldogs 6-7$ odds against the Storm? They ambushed them last year down at Melbourne and just did the same to the Roosters last week! Hope the Storm are ready for a really tough game because those odds are not based in reality.

NRL Round 6 Team Lists: Cleary suffers setback, Walsh return confirmed but Riki under cloud, Big Phin out

Everyones talking about the Kaola knock-forward-back try but I’m pretty sure there’s been several call of knock backwards in the first few rounds…I’d say more than the usual from past years so it might be a change in the reffing of dropped balls. This one just hit the spotlight because it resulted in a try.
Manly forwards dominated. Paseka and Haumole were the standouts in the first few rounds but Aloaia, Sipley and of course Brown are making their mark which is giving the halves a lot of space to play. Usually Jake T is the only standout forward after a Manly game so when he is hardly mentioned you know the pack is going good. Especially after a performance like that against a near full strength Panthers pack.

NRL Round 5 Talking Points: For a few clubs it’s getting late early, Jennings shouldn't be in league let alone celebrated

More clicks when they throw Bennett and Bellamy’s names in the mix. Bellamy is not going anywhere! 😂

Demetriou facing sack after Souths' disastrous start with Bennett, Bellamy, Burgess possible replacement options

Disappointing Loeiro only got away with a fine. Should have been a couple of games suspension! 😂

Wishart does Dad proud with match-winning try as Storm chase down Broncos after Reynolds limps off again

Agree on the need for NAS for punch and leadership in the forward pack. On the upside Welch finally found his offloads last night which made a difference. King/Trent are in the middle more for the amount of tackles they make rather than meters made.
