Yep, he was begging for that hook.

'Eddie got found out': Jones in spotlight as 'ferocious' Fiji leave Wallabies RWC hopes hanging by thread in 69 year first

I’d like to say back to the drawing board but I don’t think they ever had a drawing board to start with. Fiji were the better team tonight. Game plan, attack, kicking and sadly in a lot of positions they also had the better players. The only plus in the Wallabies game was the defense which held, especially early when the Fijians were using the full width of the field and their dangerous outside backs. Kerevi played better than expected from someone returning from long term injury. He was getting isolated for penalties but I don’t think that was all on him. Fiji owned the ruck tonight. Frost was pretty good in the lineouts picking off some of the Fijian attacking throws when it mattered. They really need Tupou and Skeleton back in the engine room for Wales where the result will pretty much decide who goes through to the next stages. No use blaming selections now, they need to come up with a clear game plan for the team they have and they need a 10 to execute it well. I say Donaldson to 10, Kellaway or Marky if he’s been training there to 15. They need to go all out attack and get points. Most importantly…STOP THE SENSELESS KICKING!!!

I’d switch CNK and Manu around. CNK has played 1 all year and has been outstanding plus combo with Johnson. Manu is a better center than fullback. Not sure Hughes will be fit enough to play so Brown 6 and Johnson 7. Te Martin 18th man.

Kiwis squad: Johnson, Hughes and Manu hold the key as New Zealand look to exploit Warriors fever

Great game Roosters and unlucky to bow out. I thought Trent Robinsons tactics especially bringing in the speedy dummy half against tiring forwards almost won them that game. Whoever won today was going to be facing a flogging next week. Still…glad the Storm made another Prelim. Munster’s so called ‘big game player’ status surely is a myth. Big game last week didn’t turn up….lets turn it up a notch this week adding in elimination for the loser…didn’t turn up again. and somehow gets the wraps for a brilliant take by Warbrick. Meaney was by far the best Storm player…Grant and Munster were hit and miss. NAS makes a difference in the forwards…the rest are plodders. Loeiro shoudln’t be in the team…offers nothing but cart the ball up and tackles. Has to be the least creative 2nd rower in the finals series. Still considering the number of experienced players lost this year and newbies coming on it has to be counted as a successful season for Bellamy and his boys.

ANALYSIS: Storm overshadow AFL as Warbrick speccy downs brave Roosters - who nearly repeat the fairytale

Honestly for a fullback learning his trade there is no better place to be than the Storm with Billy Slater doing backline coaching there. However he will need game time to iron out his weaknesses. As readiness goes I don’t think he was as ready as Grant was when he went to Tigers.

ANALYSIS: Broncos minor premiership stalls as Storm streak hits 14 in a row - with rookie Fa'alogo stealing the show

I don’t know if he’ll be a better wing than Warbrick or Coates though. Definitely would be a better backup than Jennings who I think has to be thinking about retiring as he has probably has no knee ligaments left. Also I don’t know whether he will be happy playing wing for more than 1 season as he should be getting fullback money.

I think what the likes of Paps, Walsh and Ponga have shown is quick elusive fullbacks are game winners. Looks like Faalogo is in that same exact mould so if Paps is going to be the Storm no 1 some club is going to snap up Faalogo real quick.

Agreed both Olam and Reimis didn’t really put their hand up in this game. I’d pick Reimis as his defense is better than Olams but I think his attitude is a bit poor. Tonumaipea gives 100% but sometimes his decision making is pretty poor like that kick on 3rd tackle when his wing was on the bench with a yellow card…starting to wonder if Reimis gave him a call out from the bench. 😂

ANALYSIS: Broncos minor premiership stalls as Storm streak hits 14 in a row - with rookie Fa'alogo stealing the show

Absolutely, same way they did Harry Grant with the Tigers..however the situations are differnt because if Paps returns to his best he has a lot of years to go wherea’s Cam Smith was on the verge of retirement. I don’t know if long term loans are going to work…I think its more likely he’ll be signing up with another club.

Not 100% sure but I thought the ball carrying arm has to be on the ground to be classified tackle complete if the ref hasn’t called it. Only reason I remember is a GI try vs Storm few years back where one of the Jennings bros was pretty much tackled and on the ground but his ball carrying arm was up and flick passed to GI for the try.

Takeaways from this game. There are some very good talents coming through from both teams. Very happy with the 3 Storm debutants although how they fit Faalogo in next year is going to be tough if Paps gets back to full fitness. Speaking of Paps I’m not even sure he did enough to make the 17 next week. Just nowhere near his best and his two main weapons of fitness and speed weren’t there tonight. Wishart showed far more utility value covering half and hooker although if Garlick plays next week than there’s be no need for hooker cover so probalby just a pure backline cover bench player.

Same, wouldn’t mind Broncos and Kevvie picking up the Minor Premiership…good to see his success as he was a former assistant coach at the Storm.

The Roar’s NRL expert tips and predictions Round 27: Jostling for position, resting the weary, trying to survive, playing for pride

99% of wingers would suffer in comparision to the Semitrailer. That guy was a ridiculous talent both in offense and defense…absolutely killed it in Union as well after he left Parra. Sivo the last 2 years seems to be down on form though. Wonder whether he is carrying an injury.

Where to now for Parramatta? After finishing well short of expectations, Eels need to add element of unpredictability

Phins are favs in the betting market so won’t be an upset.

When the team lists came out Tuesday I was pretty sure the Storm would beat the Broncos but Craig must have looked at that Broncos team list and decided to rest even more with Warbrick and Katoa suddenly picking up “injuries”..cough…cough…so now its a 50/50. Weirdly the guy that played every game and makes a million tackles and runs a game isn’t rested…Josh King might be a robot. Still think the Storm win it judging by the reaction to the debutant news and Broncos haven’t beat the Storm at suncorp for yages.
Storm, Manly, Roosters, Dolphins, Panthers, Dragons, Titans, Sharks.

Vunivalu was good but I think he still can get a lot better. EJ has one part of the equation with the tall aerial attack wings…the other part where he needs an accurate kicker to take advantage of said wingers is missing.

'Couldn't blow out a candle': Vunivalu vindicates Eddie's huge call as ex-NRL star finally delivers for Wallabies

Was expecting Storm to rest players as their postion does not change regardless of result. Did not expect the Broncos to do the same with the Minor Premiership on the line. Before this week was hoping Broncos would win it as Panthers have won everything for the last few years but now I really hope the Panthers get it along with what I think will be their 3-peat. Its obvious only 1 team is taking that shield seriously. Regardless of the lack of star power bar Paps the Thursday game will be interesting as a glimplse of possible futures of the two teams. Looking forward to Faalogo and Howarth play. Just hope Faalogo gets a shot at fullback.

Round 27 Team Lists Late Mail: Manu hamstrung, long list of stars resting, Papa's year over, Ponga races clock for finals

Storm need to rest everyone they can except Paps who needs a proper run at fullback. I really don’t think he should be fullback for Finals though but would be good to see him up against Walsh who with Ponga are the two best fullbacks going. Had a look at his 2020 highlights package on Youtube and he in nowhere near that level. Fourth place finish!!??? What the heck Craig!! Not good enough! Coach is skating on thin ice and surely the only way he save his job is to go on and win the Premiership! 😡

Played in the middles.

ANALYSIS: One in, one out as Papenhuyzen returns after 405 days in Storm win, but Hughes departs with knee injury

Prefer he go fullback and Meaney go 7 as Meaney has played 6 before. Hard to drop Meaney from 1 thoguh…he has been outstanding this year! Jonah Pezet also has been a handy fill in at 7 so he’ll likely get first shot.

ANALYSIS: One in, one out as Papenhuyzen returns after 405 days in Storm win, but Hughes departs with knee injury

Absolutely, Young is a decent replacment center but Reimis is way better especially defensivley. Brimson smoked Young and got Coates to come in for that easy try to Jojo Fifita. I never thought I’d say this but Marion Seve is better than Olam at the moment. Olam’s rush in defense is so easy to beat nowadays and was gifting teams tries. I’m wondering also if they do go Paps fullback whether Meaney can play center.

ANALYSIS: One in, one out as Papenhuyzen returns after 405 days in Storm win, but Hughes departs with knee injury

That is true although once the commentators mentioned knee and tear in the same sentence it does not sound great. If Knights beat Sharks tomorrow they should wholesale rest the team next week, especially Hughes even if passed fit to play.

ANALYSIS: One in, one out as Papenhuyzen returns after 405 days in Storm win, but Hughes departs with knee injury

Any slim chance the Storm had is gone with Hughes. Best attacking player for the Storm by a big big margin this year.

Bula. Key position and probably one of the best players on the park every game. This guys ceiling is going to be crazy.

NRL Rookie of the Year: The Brick, the flying mullet and Tigers' only bright spot

They actually should have won the Melbourne game. They lost Tohu Harris who is their link man and best defender in the first 20 mins and had injuries throughout the game to key players including CNK and finished with no one on the bench. I think in a rematch the Warriors will win. Dark horse for the finals for sure and Webster surely gets coach of the year!

Warriors’ surge to finals is biggest surprise since 2005 Tigers premiership run - and Shaun Johnson deserves Dally M
