I think the Wallabies are in a very good position at the moment. They are (finally) starting to gel and play with passion, the backline is looking very dangerous in attack and are improving every game indefence, the forward pack are going forward and attacking with aggression and most importantly, they look to be playing with a purpose/mentality they can win.

“Peaking” at a world cup is very real and I think we may be timing our run up perfectly.

Is there hope for the Wallabies in 2019?

This.
Beale played his schoolboy days at #10. From memory the Wallabies trialled him there to little success but he has matured immensely as a player which I think is worth backing.

When is Hunt suggested to be fully fit?

Wallabies stick with similar team for Bledisloe 2

If you want to look at a positive, there is a lot of experience sitting on the bench.

Beale is back as Michael Cheika reveals his Wallabies team for Bledisloe 1

He should have kicked the kids ass? Jeez, what a load of crap. He did the human thing and showed the kid he’s in fact a normal bloke. I take my hat off to him for that show of class.

Sonny Bill Williams: Sinner or saint?

There is extreme doubt about what precisely this is in the modern game – or what you believe it to be.
This!
Much like Phil Waugh and George Smith did, Hooper is creating a new definition of what a #7 is/can be.

Dispelling the myths about Michael Hooper and leadership

I rate DMac and thought it was a very curious move to leave him out of the All Blacks last year. With some game time he could become a very dangerous weapon.
Interesting to hear his preferred position is #10. Larkham started off in the #15 jersey and I see similarities in their running game.

All Blacks make massive selection cut in Bledisloe Cup squad

Agree 100%.

What a crap article from someone who identifies as a leading voice in Australian Rugby. Bashing Hooper is not only wrong, it feeds the fire for media and haters to further belittle our national team who quite obviously need our support during this difficult time.

I wonder, do you want Rugby Union to be successful in Australia? Sometimes I think your constant negativity suggests otherwise. Journalism doesn’t need to be looking at the negatives all the time, how about looking at what Hooper can bring to the team as a captain? How about rallying the troops together to get behind a united goal? How about suggesting it’s still 0-0 and we need to push forward as a team?

You are undoubtedly ignoring Hooper’s wealth of knowledge, respect and vision for the future. Cheika backs him, the All Blacks have been quite vocal in their respect for him and a good majority of Roarers (and Australia – no thanks to articles like these) are right behind him too and so I wonder what your agenda really is.

He is one of, if not the, Wallabies best players and leads from the front. And you want to put an over-aggressive lock or half-back who has little to do with Australian rugby other that participating in the national team in charge?

Hooper not only deserves his position in the Wallabies, he deserves his promotion to captain.

Why on earth would Cheika select Hooper as Wallaby captain?

I don’t understand this arrogance comment. Care to elaborate?

In support of Michael Hooper for the Wallabies

It’s about time someone wrote an article with a heading like this.
It blows my mind how much criticism Hooper cops from Australian rugby enthusiasts. Some days I begin to think I’m the crazy one for thinking Hooper really is the real deal.
I can understand the argument of Hooper not being a ‘complete’ #7 but as the game is changing, and the Wallabies are looking to develop their own playing style, is this really accurate? I would argue Hooper is as effective in a #7 jersey as any other in the world, the only difference being his style of play is completely different. Further to this, the whole Hooper isn’t a fetcher argument (which is absolutely wrong) can be easily offset by the way #2 is evolving. You only need to look at Latu or Cole to see how Hookers are becoming very effective fetchers.
I could go on, but I won’t. Maybe I should write an article.

Jeez, so much hate for Alcock. Did he rub you the wrong way mate?

Brumbies lose duo for 2018 season

Insane to think he wasn’t given a chance with the Wallabies or the Boks for that matter. Class player.

Brumbies lose duo for 2018 season

Now we just need Cheika to pick Latu at #2 and this whole “Hooper isn’t a fetcher” argument will become obsolete!

We’re going to need more than a few high balls to Izzy to beat the All Blacks…

Folau-Foley combo to test All Blacks

Am I the only one who thinks Latu should be starting? All this talk of weakness at the breakdown… so play Latu!

It’s time for Michael Cheika to pick and stick now

As an Aussie, I’ll be behind the All Blacks.

Mainly because they are our cross-Tasman brothers, but also because I can’t stand a winning POM.

I like to think the Kiwis would do the same for us.

Why I'll be cheering for the Lions this weekend

Well said. I watched it from the stands and I just couldn’t understand how we were doing so poorly. The handling errors and lack of structural play was seriously schoolboy level. Why the Wallabies couldn’t adapt to the Scottish style of defence (or attack) is beyond me. I was highly embarrassed as a Wallabies fan.
Again, I watched it from the stands (and couldn’t bring myself to watch the replay) but it looked like the backs were very flat footed and needed to be standing much deeper in attack. In defence, they were too deep, and as Spiro has noted, were very bunched together which left TK highly exposed.
Hunt looked good again and I think could be an exception #10. Larkham started at #15 after all… I like this idea of Kerevi at #12 too but it would need to happen now.
The lineouts and mauls were not acceptable. Whether that’s a poor throw in or simply bad jumping I couldn’t tell but whatever the problem is, it needs to be fixed yesterday.

Are Cheika's Wallabies facing an annus horribilis?

God that looks good.

Wallabies team to play Scotland announced: Cheika set to blood another debutant

Hooper is finally given the captaincy! There is no one more deserving, despite the general Hooper hate on these forums.

Why All Black fans should be worried about the Wallabies' and Springboks' woes

This.

One short step to power: Samu Kerevi at the centre of attention

When will Beale become available?

Houston, we have a problem - but we need Timani against the Pumas

I’d argue the way you defend on the wing is quite different to anywhere else in the game with maybe the exception of Fullback. It’s a speciality position and so with Hooper there we would be exposed.

Wallabies team for Bledisloe 2: Quade Cooper to start at flyhalf, Foley inside centre

Wrong. The team would be far weaker without Hooper. I feel I’m flogging a dead horse here but his work rate is far higher than anyone else in the team. You can’t drop a player who leads by example, particularity in a team who is failing so miserably.
