Strong point. Some discussions have questioned why have finals if you want to reward overall season performance. Top spot on the ladder should be champions.
I presume finals (play offs) are used to show case the better teams in September.
It is the top 3 teams that have dominated premierships in the last 19 years (current finals format).
Maybe there is argument to reduce the number of teams playing finals and have top 5 again?
My thoughts were more directed at making the final 2 rounds more interesting.
A Bulldog loss on the weekend would have the Hawks in the 8 rather than the Bulldogs.
In effect the Bulldogs have won 2 crucial games at the end of the season with great performances.
This year the final 2 rounds were interesting in many ways.

Whatever format, the fixture will remain controversial as the concept of “Home and Away” is incomplete across the competition.
