I think eventually we should bring in a 2nd NZ team and a PNG team to the comp so that new name would be perfect.
You know what Id love to see, a NZ vs Pacific Island 3 game series around the time we have our origin series. Who knows maybe it could stop really good islander and kiwi players from switching allegiance to australia just so they can be a part of state of origin as they will have their own series in the middle of the year to look forward to.
Forget the NRL, introduce a new ARL
No, I just think the on field product is just way too good at the moment that most nrl fans can seperate whats happening on the field to whats happening off it

Im from sydney but I prefer melbourne. Better shopping and nicer people imo.
In terms of sport though, Melbourne is the best at supporting their teams and sporting events while Sydney is the best at producing the sporting superstars eg. dawn fraser, ian thorpe, steve and mark waugh, mcgrath, Kewell ,cahill, a heap of legendary rugby league and union players and I believe Bradman, Wayne carey and paul kelly all grew up in NSW so i’ll throw them in.
Melbourne have done a good job this year but its just a coincidence

I would’ve had Kimmorley ahead of Prince as halfback of the year and I agree with Westy about pritchard. I didnt think he had a great season. I also would’ve had Luke o’ donnell somewhere in there.

Personally I would like to see the sharks relocated to the sunshine coast or ipswich and the roosters to a non-rugby league heatland like adelaide or some place where people arent aware of how crap they are : )

The broncos were rubbish in both attack and defence. Who knew losing Wallace would have that much of an effect on brisbane?
I reckon the storm’s easy run into the GF could work against them. It happens all the time, team has two or three fairly easy games, head into a big game and completely get thrashed.

I dont like the mcintyre system. I heard David gallop say on the footy show that teams 1 – 4 are rewarded by playing teams in the bottom half of the 8 and thats part of the reason for keeping the system. In my opinion it’s not much of a reward considering the comp every year is getting closer and closer and there isnt much between the teams nowadays. I mean this is the second year in a row the team that finished 8th have beaten the minor premiers.

I agree. I keep hearing how Jarryd Hayne has turned his life around….from what exactly? He was in the wrong place at the wrong time. That could’ve been anyone
The year from hell for NRL
I sort of agree. I think we should split the states into 2 groups
WA, SA, NSW and ACT all represent the Blues
VIC, TAS, NT and QLD are eligible for the maroons
and just call it the Blues vs Maroons instead of the NSW blues and Qld maroons but it’ll be a very long time before we start seeing talent from states outside of NSW and QLD
Let players represent their home country and play Origin
I agree just coz a sport is more international doesnt make it a better sport however if you asked me what I prefered, my favourite afl or nrl team winning the comp or the socceroos winning the world cup, I would prefer the latter. There’s something different about winning in a sport a lot of the world play and love as opposed to just winning in a domestic comp.
So what if AFL is not an international sport
I reckon next year all finals games should be played at the SFS, ANZ stadium and suncorp. Having said that, I dont blame the dragons for playing at kogorah. Just imagine the backlash against Peter doust and the dragons if they moved the game to the SFS and lost.

Ive really enjoyed this year probably more than I have any other year and Im not surprised by the increase in crowds and tv ratings. Having said that, I still think we need to make a few changes on and off the field especially the video ref. I hope they do something about that next year

The only things Id like to see change in the game is to get rid of the video ref and allow play to start straight away when there’s a 20m restart instead of waiting for everyone to get onside to start. That way the game keeps flowing. Im not a fan of slowing the game down
How to fix rugby league
Judging by the way he performed tonight, Id turn up to anything if Jarryd hayne’s name was attached to it. He was at it once again, set up 2 tries and kicked a 40/20. He wasnt my man of the match though (joel reddy and mortimer were better tonight imo) but still he was pretty good.
However, I do agree with you about not focusing on any player to promote the whole game. It puts too much pressure on them.

I agree Redb, there are biased journos on both sides. The only thing Id like to see change is for melbourne storm to get as much coverage as the swans and the lions do in sydney and brisbane and I know channel nine arent going to risk it going up against AFL because it doesnt rate but the swans and lions dont rate that well either but they still show there games live or at decent times. Thats the only area I think rugby league is treated poorly but I put that down to the NRL not having a backbone with that weak david gallop in charge

I agree AndyRoo. The swans and lions get pretty decent coverage in Brisbane and sydney compared to what the melbourne storm get in melbourne so I think its unfair to compare them until the storm do get better coverage that is equal to what the swans and lions get up here.

Of couse, there is no such thing as the best footballer of any code but Ive been watching some stuff on youtube about Hayne and he is a freak. The challenge now for him is to do it over a long period of time like an Andrew Johns or a Darren Lockyer and if he does and being that he’s only 21, I have no doubt he’ll probably go down as the greatest rugby league player of all time.

I agree. I love the way the eels and tigers play and I think if the broncos manage to continue their momentum that could really stir things up come finals time. With the talent and experience they have in their team, I wouldnt rule out them going all the way if they can string a few more wins together.
