Absolutely, one of the biggest turnarounds. Imagine he stayed a leg spinner, it would have been Smith v Lyon for the full time spot for the last 10 years…

The young leg spinner about to play his 100th Test... as this era's greatest batsman

I said Australia 3-1 before the series, I hope we are right.

Four things we took away from the first Ashes Test

In white ball cricket, he is still as dangerous and as dominant as ever. I hope he can find the consistent form in the test arena again..

It was fantastic mate. What are your thoughts, could Australia win the series, and could they do it dominantly?

Four things we took away from the first Ashes Test

Indeed he is, he has been one of the most consistent players over the last 10 years. What a special generation we have had with Smith, Kohli, Williamson and Root.. (special mention to Babar too)

Here is a fifth one, England can’t win the Ashes without a recognised full time spinner OR a fast bowler who can hit 135km/h+ consistently.

He has been a great player for a long time and personally, I think he is only behind Smith when it comes to test match batting and the way he has gone recently (especially in India & Sri Lanka in 2021) has been superb.

‘He’s had to carry an English batting lineup for years, had to carry the Test captaincy role when he was the only quality bat’, that is a very interesting point. You always hear about Smith carrying Australia (for obvious reason) but Root has done his fair share of carrying too.

There are not many black marks on his resume but he hasn’t absolutely nailed it in Australia yet, could next series be his one to shine where he can make a hundred?

Thanks for the feedback, re the defence, the reason I said to put Suaali’i back to the wing is because he has struggled defensively in different games at centre this year.

They finished the 22 regular season great, but in that EF game against the bunnies, a lot of players lost their heads unfortunately, I will admit that.

The Bondi wall has struggled this year, that’s no secret, however it’s their attacking footy that I believe is their bigger problem considering how many attacking weapons they do have.

They will work it out though, I’m expecting a response on Friday.

Roosters' poor form can be fixed: The three changes Robinson should make to get season back on track

Great stuff mate, He is the goat and someone I want to be like when I start calling games.

Agreed mate, Robbo is a top 5 coach of the last 25 years.

He coached the Roosters to a premiership in his first year and like you said, transformed the culture.

All they need is 2-3 close wins and they will be back in business.

Thanks for the comment, yeah it’s an interesting one regarding Keary.

I personally don’t think he is a 7, I think his style is being a 6 with Walker being the perfect half for them.

However, he has won 3 comps and was a Clive Churchill medalist in one of those GFs, he is too good a player to not rediscover his best form.

Must win against St George Illawarra this week, for both clubs…..

I think it will be a very close game. Both sides are desperate.

Agreed mate, but if they gotta work it out very soon if they want a top 4 finish!

‘Not one Chooks forward ran for 100 metres against Penrith’, that is something we never see from the Roosters (especially with Lodge and Collins both playing)….

Thanks for the comment, yeah when I say move the ball more, I mean complete and run with a lot more positive intent.
Quick play the balls and easier field position will follow, I don’t mean throw low percentage passes.
It all starts with how positive you are when taking hit ups and if you can make post contact metres.
Panthers ran for 524 PCM, the Roosters, only 280….

Thanks for the comment, I think ‘you are missing the Morris bros out wide’ is spot on. They were so reliable for 2-3 years at the Roosters, all rounders. I still think Robbo is a top line coach, you don’t win 3 comps without being that good…

I did think about mentioning Smith to 13 because being at 9 hasn’t really worked but I still think with enough time, he can get back to 2021 form. He showed it in that game against the bunnies early in the year!

Thanks for the comment, The completion rate is the thing Robbo would be most aggravated by I would imagine

Thanks for the comment mate, the point about Manu moving back to centre is one I’ve thought about and I just don’t know what the best position for him is. A lot of experts believe he should stay at 6 to get more ball so it’s a tough one.
Regarding the forwards, I agree, they have to aim up better and I have no doubt they will.
Just to add to the point about the Storm and Sharks games, against the Storm, Radley got binned and they fell away from there and against the Sharks, they were right in it, but their attack was too sideways and too passive especially near the end.
They are a team with too many good players not to work it out.

I grew up with Rabs, Sterlo & Gus as the big 3 in the box with Freddy and Joey on the sidelines. Amazing memories of that group in 2011-2013 when I first started watching footy helped me decide that I wanted to be involved in NRL coverage!

Insightful comment, I think that’s a trait/quality that every commentator should possess!

Thanks mate, I don’t think Rabs went too long and respect his decision to finish when he did. I believe we won’t see a caller like him for a long time, if ever again. He changed the game!!

I wouldn’t know for sure mate, but what I’ve understood is that any fast paced sport like horse racing, swimming/running etc CAN definitely help prepare you when calling football!!

Thanks mate, he is for most footy fans. Essentially all the iconic moments were called by him for so many years!!
