So we need to pick on form, but then you want to select guys like Addo-Carr, Martin and Young over guys like Lomax, Tupou, Olakau’atu and Frizell who have all started the year in much better form? Doesn’t make any sense.

Wild idea but Blues should actually pick Origin team on form this time around - and that means Tedesco’s time is up

Agree on Head becoming our best batsman this summer but are Smith and Marnus still considered the top 2 in this team? Since Khawaja has come back in as an opener I’d have him well ahead of both of them.

Test cricket summer random predictions: Head to surpass top duo, Lyon on the hunt, Warner's farewell and who'll replace him

Sandon Smith was great on the weekend and has had some good performances this year but to suggest he may be better than Brandon Smith seems very reactionary.

Chooks and Cheese not a recipe for success: Brandon shaded by Sandon when it comes to Roosters rakes

Great effort from both teams tonight. Hurts to go out like that but that was a great game of footy. Terrell May looks like he’s going to have a long career ahead of him. He’s been great over the last month and was just about our best tonight. Can’t wait to see how him and Wong develop next year.

ANALYSIS: Storm overshadow AFL as Warbrick speccy downs brave Roosters - who nearly repeat the fairytale

On a seperate note, Siua Wong looks like a special talent. It’s a shame we had to wait so long for his debut this year but he’s been great since he got his start. Don’t think he’ll be losing his spot on the edge anytime soon.

ANALYSIS: Redemption for Walker as Roosters lose Manu, Suaalii and Teddy - but pull off all-time epic finals win

Thought we were gone once Teddy got binned. Felt like both teams gave each other chances but no one wanted to capitalise. Plenty of grit from the Chooks again but we’ll need more than that to beat Melbourne next week. Should be a cracker.

Thought the Storm were overrated by many going into this game but I still didn’t expect that score line. Broncos just way too good all over the park. Melbourne are always tough to beat at home but the Sharks and Roosters will fancy their chances.

ANALYSIS: Broncos surge into prelim after heartbreaking Papi injury - but were the Panthers the big winners?

Not sure I agree on the Sharks having a superior pack. I think they are pretty evenly matched. The Sharks pack did dominate the Raiders on the weekend but that was a Raiders pack missing Papali’i and Horsburgh so I’m not sure how much we can read into that. Should be a great contest on Saturday night.

'We’re better for that taste this year': How the pain of last year's straight sets flameout is powering the Sharks

Loved seeing Sam have a go at him after he scored. Not sure why but Cody always seems to go after him. Was nice to see Sammy return serve.

ANALYSIS: The worst collapse ever? Souths miss finals as Walker powers Chooks to famous win

I’d be surprised if Parra aren’t back in the top 8 next year. They had one of the tougher draws in the competition and plenty of injuries to key players. The two self inflicted suspensions from Matterson and Brown certainly didn’t help either.

That being said they definitely need to make a few improvements to their squad. The outside backs in particular need some work but it’s hard to see where the improvement comes from. There doesn’t seem to be any young talent coming through which has been an issue they’ve had for many years now. Guys like Sivo and Simonsson would struggle to crack most clubs starting 13 but there is no pressure being put on them by the players outside the top squad. They need to try and recruit 1 or 2 centres/wingers but the options are pretty slim at the moment.

Where to now for Parramatta? After finishing well short of expectations, Eels need to add element of unpredictability

I think Marsh is in for a big world cup. He’s in some fine form at the moment.

Spinner's stunning debut, Marsh magic lead Aussies to crushing win over South Africa

The game (and the Raiders) will be much better off once Ricky is no longer an NRL coach. His childish rants have become so boring and predictable (much like the Raiders attack). He’s well protected by the media but surely his position will be under threat if they miss the 8 this year after being in the top 4 just 6-7 weeks ago.

My power's not diminished: Stuart put in his place as referees boss returns serve after Sticky spray

I really hope Robbo keeps him on the edge for the remaining games this season. Looks to be a special talent.

ANALYSIS: Brown sent off for horror high shot but backline fires Roosters to victory over Manly

Yep Anderson has been really poor and his record against us is just getting worse and worse. 8 years now since he’s been part of a winning test side against Australia. Let’s hope it stays that way.

Warner loss sours Aussie comeback as Starc inspires England collapse despite drops aplenty

His first spell was fantastic. England got off to a fast start and Cummins brought us right back into it.

Neser better than Green??? Green hasn’t had his best series but he’s a much better player than Neser.

Flem's Verdict: Aussies will be galvanised to shut up England’s PR machine after washout kerfuffle

I’m not sure that they’ve changed their method. They’ve scored at 3.6 runs per over so far this innings which is similar to the rate they scored at in the first two tests. It’s disappointing that no one was able go on and post a big score but I think the English bowlers deserve some credit for that.

'Disappointed with no one getting a big score': Marnus worried Aussies have let sizeable total slip away

Bit of a frustrating day for the Aussie’s. Just needed one of the top 7 to add an extra 50 or so and we would of been in a great spot. 8-300 after being sent in to bat on day 1 isn’t the worst outcome though. Hopefully Starc, Cummins and Hazlewood can add some valuable runs and get that total closer to 350.

I just don’t see how Murphy being left out of this test is similar to the way Agar, Swepson and Kuhnemann have been treated in the past (and I’d argue only Agar has been treated/dealt with poorly by selectors out of those 3).

They’ve left him out for this test and picked a team that they believe gives them their best chance of winning based on the conditions they expect to face. That doesn’t mean that the coaches/selectors no longer see Murphy as Lyon’s deputy and successor once he hangs up the boots.

Aussies adopt defensive mindset after making changes for fourth Test - but Warner gets stay of execution

Lyon was dropped a couple of times early in his career and he’s turned out just fine. I don’t think Murphy being left out of this test is an indication for how he will be treated in the future.

So Murphy is left out of the squad in one test very early in his career and now he’s going to disappear into Shield cricket? Seems like a slight overreaction…

We know exactly what Langer would of done. You just need to look back to the 2019 series to find out. Warner was in much worse form yet he held his spot for all 5 tests.

COMMENT: Australia left it too late to fix Warner problem - we're stuck with him for the series

Who replaces Warner though? If we had a good replacement dropping him would make sense but I’m not at all convinced that Harris would do a better job. Don’t think that moving Head, Marsh or Green up to open is the answer either. Warner was poor at Headingley but he looked okay in the first two tests and survived some tough periods that set up Australia’s innings.

Maxwell smart left-field option worth considering for a spin if Aussies want to strengthen lower order all round

Watching the English completely lose the plot over this has been very entertaining. Not sure there is another sport in the world where a team would ask the opposition to reverse/change something that has happened because one of their teammates made a stupid mistake.

Stuart Broad has just given Pat Cummins a lecture on moral standards. The audacity is gobsmacking

Laughable comments from McCullum given his history with similar incidents. Also find it interesting that England think attempting a run out/stumping is against the “spirit of the game” yet telling one of the nicest guys in world cricket to “f**k off, you f*****g pr**k” after he’s scored 140 is play on.
