A new logo, new coaching staff, new jerseys, a few new players and a new CEO - we've seen it all before, but 2015…
Agreed they need essentially an entire new forward pack. No go forward at all. Simon is coming towards the end of his career, not playing 80 mins anymore either. Matulino moving on. Not sure Taumalolo or Bromwich are the answer, Bromwich’s numbers have been way below his usual standard, add in the stuff that happened in Canberra. Taumalolo would be great, though how he’d go surrounded by our forwards compared with what he has to work with at the Cowboys, would be interesting to see.

Not sure I’m a rugby supporter, or a fair weather fan – I run the supporters forum.

I believe I ended with saying I’d still be watching. Can’t manufacture emotional investment however.

Sorry I mis-read your comment as a second Auckland team rather than NZ team.
I think the warriors would still remain the NZ Warriors though.
The New Zealand Warriors need a new club culture
Haha, age old question/debate. I would think not, as if there was a second side it would most likely be based in Wellington.

Of those players mentioned it looks like Steve Matai is the most likely, given his desire to leave Manly and the Titans have distanced themselves from he rumours about their interest in him. Can’t see Foran or Merrin leaving Aus and I’d think RTVS will be a top priority for the Roosters.

Agreed re Ryan Hoffman. He may not be exactly what the Warriors needed on the field but they’re in desperate need of some mental starch when the going gets tough. He’ll be excellent support for Simon Mannering and hopefully can show a few of the young guys what it takes to be a true professional.

As Sterlo put it last year “I’ve fallen in love with the Warriors over the Origin period again, haven’t I?”

It’s a credit to the fans that the Warriors do relatively well in regard to crowd numbers despite their poor showings, especially in a city supposedly mad about rugby union.

If only Warriors management knew as much about Matt Elliot’s reputation as the rest of us. Unfortunately they gobbled up everything Elliot said and appointed him. The most disturbing part of that saga was the very strong rumour going around that they’d knocked back Bellamy because he could only start in 2014 and the Warriors wanted someone for 2013…

Thanks!
Yeah I too struggle with how we often hear how they started the season either too bulked up or not bulked up enough, or not fit enough. That’s the issue when you have high turnover of back room staff and each new regime comes in wanting to right the mistakes of the previous coach and coaching staff. That kind of thing should be bread and butter for an NRL club, sadly it isn’t for the Warriors..

You’re not alone on those 2 points.
A second team would probably have stronger backing had the Warriors been more successful than they have been. As it stands they still haven’t won a premiership, and if we’re honest, the bulk of NZ talent heads to Aus as is. Conversely the Warriors struggle to recruit top Aussie players. A second team would be great if we could show that our team now has been an overwhelming success, though personally I dont think we’re ready.

Thanks mate.
The Warriors also peddle their own reputation to a certain extent. Let’s just say that some of their marketing strategies have been met with less than great enthusiasm over the past couple of years. It all just adds up to an organisation that struggles for credibility, especially when on-field performances only confirm various perceptions. Oh well, we’ll see what 2015 brings.

Not sure the expectation from people who follow them closely is huge, most of the diehard supporters I talk with just want consistent effort. This year a lot of fans would have been happy with a top 8 spot, noone was expecting a premiership. That won’t happen however, and it doesn’t appear much else has changed or will change. You don’t miss 57 tackles purely because you’re forwards aren’t the biggest boys around.
