Actually losing to Australia, New Zealand or South Africa has no negative effect on Argentina’s ranking.
Losing to Ireland and Scotland at home does.

Australia had three teams in the Top 8 of Super rugby and have just lost to Argentina.
South Africa had one and have just beaten New Zealand.
